Ah, give the poor Yankee fans a break - they have to live with the fact that the MVP of the last All-Star game ever played at Yankee Stadium was a member of the First Place, Defending World Champion Boston Red Sox.

Not to mention nobody in New York "Expects" to win World Series anymore so they tend to be a little more angry nowadays image

<< <i>oh please, like dem classy goiys up in da boston yard would have done anything different. >>

Get a clue, for a few hours last night JD Drew was on the American League team, along with other Yankees players. It's one thing to trash an opponent when he's introduced, but only bush league, chump change, arrogant fans would trash the MVP, especially if he just played on YOUR team.

Get a second clue, apparently you've never been to a Red Sox- Yankees game in Fenway. You'd be amazed at the number of standing O's the Red Sox fans have given YOUR pitcher as he was being taken out of the game after pitching a good game.

May the second half of your season be as dismal as the first. >>

whatever, and apparently you've never been to a Sox/Yankees game in the Bronx, where the opposing team is just that the opposing team.

May the second half of your season be as dismal as the first 100 seasons

its also nice how J.D is da man in Boston now, when 2 seasons ago you guys were going to run him out of town on a rail he sucked so bad.

Second half starts tomorrow, we'll see you in October!

and apparently with Richie Sexson on board, oh man, where is Ax when you need him image

I have trashed Drew a bunch of times on the Red Sox thread...easy to check out. We're talking about 2 nights ago, NOT two years ago. He's not on the top of my list, I think he's too hot and cold. I didn't know that JD was now "da man" in Boston, thanks for the info. I think Pedroia, Youk, Lowell, Ortiz, Ramirez and at least Papelbon would be ahead of Drew in terms of fan favorites. Hansen and Lugo, along with Timlin are at the bottom of the list.

Point was, Drew's 2-run homer all but handed the WS advantage to the American League teams, this of course includes the Yankees. Yet he gets booed for being the MVP.

Well, as noted earlier, you guys live with the fact that the last MVP award in Yankee Staidum was won by a Red Sox player...OUCH!!!!

Give it a break Sox fans. Especially the 32 year old jobless bone head who posts from his mommy's basement ..... MCMLVTopps

Any Yankee who would come to bat in Fenway Park in a All Star game would be booed just as bad. Please .... stop boring me to TEARS with your high and almighty DRIVEL ...
image DO NOT come here and claim that you guys (MCMLVTopps excluded in regards to guys) would stand up and cheer when A-Rod or Jeter or any Yankee makes an appearance in Fenway at a ALL STAR game.

The biggest crock of horse dung dingle berry balloon knot (you all know what THAT is ..... right all of you downright saaaavy Sox fans?) air that I have heard and smelled in quite awhile. image

Now, is it not the funniest thing to see ..... Boston Red Sox fans behaving in such a stuck up elitist way. The SAME behavior that was their lame rallying cry for GENERATIONS of Yankee bashing. How comical, Yankee fans think we are stuck up now and acting like they did for decades! There is a big difference though, we "Want" to win and you people "Expected" to win and ever since you guys have been knocked off your perch your awfully defensive!

It should be a fun second half watching you guys struggle to stay in that respectful 3rd place spot!

how naive .... to actually think that New York Yankee fans do not "want" to win but "expect" to win.

    heh image

That thought process is nothing more then the product of Sox nation propaganda. I don't need to sit here and tell you that Yankee fans want to win, nothing will convince the New England new found elitist attitude and I could care less really. So the old rallying cry of the Sox "faithful" that used to lambast Yankee success now turns to "its OK to be obnoxious elitists" because supposedly you all "want" to win more then Yankee fans. "...the right-handed-batting Sexson playing against left-handed starting pitching. He batted .344 with five home runs in 61 at-bats against lefties for Seattle before his release."

Let's see, we bat Giambi against righties and Sexson against lefties. He also gives us a nice right handed bat off the bench which we simply don't have. That works pretty dam well for me!

Why don't the Sox fans ever do their research before automatically ragging on any move the Yankees make image

As far as juice is concerned- Nah I will just drink the case of Sam Adams your going to be sending me at seasons end-while sporting the Red Sox Avator yet again.

A little more research shows that Sexson is a career .265 hitter against lefties and his career slugging % against lefties is only .003 higher than it is against righties. For his career, Sexson has hit 1 homer every 16.6 ABs against lefties and 1 every 15.9 ABs against righties. I'd say that whatever "nice" stats against lefties that Sexson has accumulated so far in 2008 has to do with a pretty small sample size. Especially if you look at his recent past: 2007 he hit .238 against lefties (and .195 against righties!) and in 2006 it was even worse at .204 against lefties.

And at any rate, hasn't Giambi said that he plays better when he's not in a platoon situation? I may be wrong about that, but I could have sworn he said that.

TheVon - We didn't sign him to a long term deal. Those numbers don't have a hell of a lot of meaning when we're only using him for the next 3 months, and right now his numbers are great against lefties for whatever reason. It was a good try though image.

I dont look at the Sexon signing as anything more than what it is- a very minimal investment on a "has-been" power hitter who will get you the occasional HR and a bucket load of K's as well- good luck with that!

Great post All Star Game sweep against a team that the standings say was close to Wild Card contention. Plus we beat their best pitcher today. Now on to another Wild Card threat ..... the Twins. The Rays are coming back to earth and after the Twins we get the Sox and all of their stuck up fans image Time to make a move ....

Just a note about Sexson and why the Yankees picked him up...

vs Lefties, Sexson is hitting .338, .600 SLG, and a .429 OBP

his numbers vs righties is nothing less than dismal. It will be a rare occurrance when he hits against a righty in a Yankees uniform. If he keeps up with those numbers, he will be a real threat against the LHP.

His has 3x more at bats from the right side. I guess we'll see how accurate those numbers are vs LHP. If he doesnt perform against the lefties, you can be sure the Yanks wont hesitate to release him.

Paul ... it took a mere TWO Series wins for the majority of Sox fans to transform themselves into pompous loud mouth freaks. Its all good though .... the rilvary is as healthy as ever. I just can't wait for those who are so drunk on Sox Nation to realize how foolish it has been to write the Yankees off as has beens and a horrible team and yada yada ydad bla bla bla.

I suspect alot of these "Sox fans" are young and ignorant. THAT is what success breeds in the young. The same exact type who you all used to whine about on the Yankees side.

Watch out! This "horrible" Yankee team who really are in re-building mode are just three games behind the "nation" image

Oh, and nothing embattled about this thread sir Paul! image
