Yanks really need to trade Kennedy in the off season. Its unfortunate cuz he has good stuff but he doesnt belong on the Yankees with that crap attitude. Plus, its obvious he cant handle the pressure in NY and quite possible any team in MLB because he doesnt like to be scrutinized
Thats right, I dont like Kennedy. Phil Hughes on the other hand has a future. I dont care what happened earlier this season, this kid will come back and be a #1 or #2 type starter.
<< <i>The Yankees need to just put their next two HOF pitchers into the rotation for the rest of the season and see what happens (Hughes and Kennedy). In fact when Joba gets back they will have three future HOF'ers pitching in September. >>

A nice job by Pavano to pick up the win. I never thought that I would be saying that this season. He needs to be sharper though next time out, and give us a little more length.

you may be right....in fact there should be a thread entirely dedicated to fantasy seems that ever since the team I root for gave up on the season I've been in a surly mood. we all miss you CC, Paul and Casey
Nice pic Perk!! A nice win, which we needed, coupled with the Rays loss. I suspect unless there is an actual miracle, the Yankees are toast this year. Should we be fortunate enough to sweep, that'll be the final nail in King George's hopes this year. No way could they recover from being that far back.
Was A-Rod pathetic or what? Incredible what he gets paid for such a rookie performance.
Looked like the fans were bailing at the top of the 8th, real troopers those Yankee fans. I'll bet Girardi has some serious stock in Malox or Pepto Bismol, his team just isn't doing it. Did you guys see the Cano "hot dog" over the shoulder catch? Boy, if he'd dropped that one he'd probably be on his way to Siberia.
Gotta keep it going.
Finally got 3.5" of rain from Fay A BIG deal here.
NEW YORK (AP) -When the Yankees needed Alex Rodriguez at his best, he had one of his worst games.
Tim Wakefield won in his return from the disabled list and the Boston Red Sox moved a step closer to squashing New York's playoff hopes, beating Andy Pettitte and the Yankees 7-3 Tuesday night.
Rodriguez flopped in crucial spots all night. He grounded into two double plays - one with the bases loaded - and whiffed for the final out.
''Tonight, you can put it on me,'' Rodriguez said. ''It was a lousy night. We pretty much screwed it up every way you can screw it up. There's absolutely no excuse.''
Johnny Damon hit two solo homers for the Yankees, but Rodriguez's failures thwarted one potential rally after another.
''He's the best player in the league. Unfortunately, he had a bad night,'' Damon said.
This is Boston's final regular-season visit to Yankee Stadium, the site of so many memorable moments throughout the teams' long rivalry. Next year, New York moves into a lavish new ballpark being built across the street, and this isn't the way A-Rod and the Yankees wanted to say goodbye.
The three-time MVP finished 0-for-5 and was booed loudly as New York fell six games behind Boston, which leads the wild-card race by a slim margin over Minnesota. Rodriguez also committed an error at third base.
How about Bobby Abreau slackin' in right feild and not hustling to catch that ball? It's funny, as soon as it happened I said to my wife, "He not playing like he wants to be in the World Series" then they show the clip of the last play of the Rays game and their left fielder making that awesome catch to end the game.

I was at the game. What a choke job by ARod. I think he broke a Yankee record for grounding into most Double Plays in the month of August at Yankee Stadium. Cano's error was very costly. Rasner pitched a very good game and deserved the win.
"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
I'd say that today's loss is the final nail in the coffin for the Yankees this year. Too far back, the Rays are playing some incredible ball, and the Red Sox are positioning for the WC. Throwing more bucks at the Yankee roster as Hank eluded to earlier is just insane...money doesn't win championships, the players do.
Pedroia is making $457k this season, A-Rod (and company) are making a boatload more and simply can't get it done. Who would you Yankee guys rather have right now, little ole 5'9" Pedroia, or the great A-Rod??
As Dandy Don used to say "turn out the lights, the party's O-VAH"
Dont get me wrong, I like ARod and I think he is one of the greatest this fine game has....but this article I found really interesting. Want to know why the fans boo ARod, for all of you up ARod's a$$, here ya go... yahoo article
Geez i wonder why all these sox fans feel the need to post in this thread when yankee fans stay away from sox threads? Oh it must be the inferiority complex they have. I guess if I had to wait 86 years for a championship and was beaten up so many times by the yanks I too would feel inferior.
Sox fans we get it, you finally have a winning team no need to act so boorish.
The funny thing is the Yanks fans (at least on here) never started any anti Sox threads.
Back in 1978 the Yanks were 14 games out around this very date. If I were you guys I'd keep my mouth shut and just enjoy my teams chance at backing into a PO spot.
Lets not forget that the Bosox dont have it wrapped up either. The Twins are knocking on the door of the Wild Card and there are some injuries that the Bosox may not be able to recover from. In fact, I would bet on the Twins taking the Wild Card.
Keep those mouths a runnin...we'll see where everyone stands at the end of the season. Bosox just may be sitting home on the lounge chair watching the playoffs too. What then? I know...a whole lot of shut the hell up.

I've been saying this all along. Arod is useless for the money they pay him. However, everyone wants to tell me how he's a great player, and great for the team.
He's a distraction, an egomaniac, and still needs viagra. The Yankees WILL NEVER win a world series with this clown.

There will be nothing better than if the Yankees are the SPOILERS for the Red Sox playoff hopes at the end of this year. That will bring huge satisfaction if it happens!
<< <i>There will be nothing better than if the Yankees are the SPOILERS for the Red Sox playoff hopes at the end of this year. That will bring huge satisfaction if it happens! >>
I would love nothing more, but the problem is that even when we play well the Red Sox don't lose. I'm being realistic here. While it's not impossible it's highly unlikely at this point.
Twins/White Sox still do have a chance...there is way too much baseball to count either one of them out to squeeze out the wild card. I know Chisox losing Quinten is a big hit but maybe Griffey Jr will get some new life in his bat and go hot for the rest of the season. Keep it close, Chisox and Twins!
wow page 3, not like they deserve to be on page 1 anymore with the way they've given up, but gotta give Congrats to Jeter for moving into the number 2 spot on the all time yankees hit list, great company for a great ball player.
Here's to hoping that that 80 million that can come off the payroll at the end of this miserable season comes off and stays off or gets dedicated to some young studs down on the farm.

I'll second that. What a classy guy, and a great ballplayer.
I just read an interesting article about the future of Joba Chamberlain. I'm not an expert so I can't really chime in with my opinion on whether or not I think Joba is built to be a starter or a reliever, but Posada seems to think that if he starts it will injure him. I will say though that with the starting rotation in New York as it is currently made up, the Yankees really needs Joba to start. On the other hand, if the Yankees could get 3 or 4 quality starting pitchers in their rotation though, Chamberlain would be a huge asset as a setup guy and eventually as a closer when Rivera retires.
