It's important to recognize the U.S. Mint has a checkered history. The really crazy stuff may have stopped in the 19th century but the there's been plenty of shenanigans in the 21st too.

The popularity of this issue can be somewhat measured by the newbies.

They sold 109,000 of the High Relief coins in 2009, so limiting the mintage to 17,500 makes no sense if the Mint was trying to realize higher revenues & profits.

I expect all the privy pieces will go higher than simply cresting five-figures. However, I doubt many "frustrated" buyers for the ~$3,600 pieces will end up as serious players for the privy pieces.

I was on the fence. Loved the look of these but that was a lot of money. I was 50/50 on whether or not they would be a first day sellout. I’m surprised (or not?) that we haven't had NJ give us the real scoop yet, since he obviously has a crystal ball.

You can buy a 1795 original for less than these. Of course not a MS70 like these.
