Have one in my bag. Can I leave it in the bag until tomorrow?

Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally

    I knew it would happen.
  • The gold Flowing Hair was out of my price range. But it is a beautiful coin and congratulations to those who snagged one.

Van, did you already have one in the bag?

112 flipped this morning. GL if you got one.

How do you know the number available? I thought that doesn’t work anymore on this new site.

  • coastaljerseyguycoastaljerseyguy Posts: 1,347 ✭✭✭✭✭

I saw the gold went available at 7:30 added to bag but by time I finished checkout and Proceed with Order there were none available, it was only 7:32. For those that got 1 this morning, did you have your payment info already on file from a subscription or something. Maybe that lost me the purchase.

  • JerseyBJerseyB Posts: 113 ✭✭✭

I was able to place an order at 7:30. Just got confirmation email. I still don't believe they all sold out in 4 minutes yesterday.

Yep, only way you stand a chance with the 6:30 game. I didn’t have one in my bag though yet. I added it and then cruised through with my saved info this morning.

Most recent order number minus earliest I see in this thread:

    USM14930XXX
    USM14922XXX

8,000 orders with a HHL of 1! And some orders were for other products. I bet they sold 7,500 online yesterday.

Did not. Waited for the Red button to display after refresh. My guess is many more will become available in the next week.

  • GoldminersGoldminers Posts: 3,984 ✭✭✭✭✭

Since all 17,500 were minted and sold so fast, it does appear that social medial buying clubs and other large groups expected a sellout and many likely purchased these only for flip potential. Some are dumping them to Pinehurst and other dealers for just a few hundred over their purchase price.

How many plan to actually keep these is still unknown, but there are more than 200 on eBay at buy it now prices asking $4,500 and up. I think those prices are likely to drop down to $4,200 or so in the next few weeks and stabilize.

It was also interesting the mint did not increase the HHL this morning. Good move for some of those who did not get one yesterday.

    Rumor is this is happening.

Orders get cancelled. Often for issues relating to payment, HHL, matching addresses, etc.

True, I understand that, but appears to be more than that from what I’m hearing.

Need a source... and not just reddit complaints.

Like I said, rumors, but was from someone with a decent sized YouTube channel. Not the greatest source I know.
That’s why I asked here, somewhat more reliable information and I’m just curious.

And I was able to add to my cart but didn’t complete purchase. Nice looking coin but it is not what I collect.

I wonder if reports will be given about availability today at the US Mint booth at the Baltimore show. I was there yesterday and rumors were there was to be availability of additional coins today and everyday of the show.
I'd like to know if that was true or not.

Anyone know how to get this label from PCGS?

  • GoldminersGoldminers Posts: 3,984 ✭✭✭✭✭

The one I purchased arrives today at noon via UPS next day air. The Mint has been doing a good job with shipping items fast, as far as my experiences have been lately.

I really hope it does not have a minor flaw, as most of the ones I do receive direct from the Mint seem to have them. Is it possible many of the advanced release coins are from newer dies? How many coins would a single die be expected to produce on these high relief proofs?

Maybe you could send a PM to a member on the Baltimore thread who posted they are going to show today.

Maybe they will stop by the PCGS booth and ask for you. They could show them your label pic

I submitted yesterday at PCGS booth in Baltimore - we used the same special label instructions but indicated GOLD Flowing Hair Label. $7 extra.

Did you add First Strike? If so......................

The $7 per coin/label fee is in addition to the selected service level grading fees, with the exception of First Strike. If First Strike (additional $18) is selected the $7 label fee is waived.

Im not putting out any type of a call on this one in terms of how many were available, but, the jury is out until we see the sales report on Tuesday.
The USM has the ability to sell >10,000 units in a short window, but, i may be hedging on the fact that the Coin World article (which I havent seen) stating that all 17,500 have been minted may not be correct.
    4 minute sellout of >14,000 coins at $3640 each......hmmmm.
I do not believe more than 10% went to Bulk buyers. Too many dealer buyers at +500 yesterday at the show.

It would help if we knew how accurate @treybenedict number was. If there were really only 6700 available, they might have only released around 10,000. 6700 + 500ish at Baltimore+ 200ish at Mint stores +1750ish ABPP.

Coinworld usually reports 1st day sales and vABPP

It was 6,293. The min/max order number sleuthing is a good approximation, but this number comes from the Mint site itself.

I am curious how these numbers will add up. Just in case of an error I posted a screen shot from Coin World above. If correct and we can get a better feel for distribution and this can be a hypothetical model for the 2026 issuances of the Bust and St Gaudens

It's still there, but not in the same place as it used to be. I imagine Trey and others have scripted a way to pull it without manually digging, but that's just a hunch.

That confirms they have all been struck. It would be interesting to see how many sold and where they sold.

Noon eastern time today should be inconsequential for these and the HHL likely won't increase. Can you imagine the uproar if they did lift the HHL and made more available today? One buyer might grab 500! :)

How can it be gone? 17,500 really? Where is @NJCoin opinion with this?

Sorry I got jammed up at work today, but I'm here now to take my figurative beating. 😀

I know some folks will be disappointed to see me say this, but I was WRONG, WRONG WRONG!!!!

I always said I'd admit when I was clearly wrong, and I was clearly wrong.

I can't really explain how I was so wrong, but I was wrong.

Either there is truly organic demand for this, basically at any price, or this is just a buying club creation reminiscent of the good 'ole days when the site was crashed by the bots, and many collectors found themselves shut out.

Truly inexplicable how 40K silver medals with a $3K+ lottery ticket lasted a day while these, at $3640, didn't last 5 minutes. Especially with everything dealers have been offering on eBay over the past week. I guess we'll see over the next week or so whether there is a strong secondary market for these, or whether the price collapses when everyone who scarfed them up has no one to sell to.

Either way, once again, I WAS WRONG!!! I truly thought these would last until at least noon tomorrow. After which we'd see whether there was an appetite for 17,500 gold coins priced over $1,000 above spot. Clearly, there is. At least today.

For anyone who missed out, happy hunting at 7:30 a.m. the next week or two.

Hopefully anyone who thought 230 privys would have a difficult time cracking $9K will also step up when the time comes and admit they were wrong. $20K+, for the least expensive PR 69, based on today's action.

Glad you're back. And I mean that seriously. If you added up all the times I was wrong I'd pass you by a mile. Keep the faith and use your best judgment.

Thank you for the kind words! 😀

I debated all year if would like this as proof vs unc. Now that actual images are available glad it went proof.
