Nothing like having access to a coin that is only available at a show when you know that the secondary market will already give you a great profit if you want to turn around and flip it. 😏
Mint lady said they brought over 300 coins to the show.

Still a line at the Mint table at Baltimore show. Over 2 hours and still available at the Baltimore show with a steady line all morning long
Might explain why the online sellout (Not Available) was so quick this morning.
Tim
Possibly. I can't believe they have more than 1,000 coins at the show.
My guess is the big dealers got their big allotment of coins like ticket resellers get their guaranteed blocks of tickets for resale and the general public is left to feed on the crumbs.🙄

Last time they did a Baltimore release, they only had 500 coins on hand. I would not assume that there are a huge number of coins there.
If they're selling one a minute x number of cashiers and the line it still going strong after two hours, might have more on hand this time.

You wouldn't think so but this is the U.S. gov't. What if they did something insane and only made 10,000 available this morning online?
well certainly I did not see this 3 minutes sellout coming!
I was hesitate to order one considering the bad exchange rate between the US$ and the Canadian dollar, but glad that I ordered one now. Will be one of my elite collection coins.
Probably giving the mint too much credit… but wouldn’t it be interesting if they minted less than the max mintage to help future sells. So now collectors will wonder if a coin with a seemingly high montage actually might be less, thus bumping up interest. If it was indeed not all 17,000+ sold today, I’d guess they may release some as a set with the silver since they have a bunch of those still able to sell.

Regardless of the reason you can rest assured it's going to be a cluster f**k.
Tried to log into my account at noon or so, jammed up, locked up, froze up you name it. Finally logged in to find out not available. If you think you're going to get one tomorrow morning, good luck, you'll have 1/10th of a second to place your order. I hope the Mint strikes 17 million more.
They had the number of bulk presales on the mint website last week, and they have taken it down so I can't pull up the number again. I think it was about 2000 or so, plus add in the ones taken to the coin expo, and they may have some at the mint store in DC available as well.
Very orderly procedure. Woman stands at #1, far enough to her left so police can watch the transaction between her and the line. Then follows the numbers.

edited to add: When I entered the hall I went to the west end where the Mint usually displays. To my surprise, the booth was on the far east end of the hall. Probably cost me an extra 20 minutes in line.

My order has changed to shipped.
I paid the $17.95 for 2 day expedited shipping. Its getting sent First Class mail. Is that expedited shipping?
Having been in Logistics for 40 plus years, I would not consider first class mail expedited service. I don't believe there is a delivery guarantee as with a UPS or Fed Ex Two Day service. Unless you live near the shipping point, your delivery time could be several days.

Why do you guys think they will release more tomorrow morning at 7:30? Do they have a history of doing that with limited, sold out releases?
They do have such a history. The timing varies but more releases are almost guaranteed.

They reload all inventory at that time. If they have a few cancelations or something, they will appear. If not, they won't.

Yes. All the problem orders, and usually not too many, get sent back through the shute at 7:30 sharp...and if you're really lucky, you could snag one. The window of opportunity is usually under 30 seconds.

They could have popped for better than a cheesy snap box. They probably figured everyone gets them in 70 slabs and their cheesy snap boxes end up in the 💩 can

300 x $3,640 = $1,092,000

You've got to hand it to the Mint for creating drama.

That’s not going to attract many sellers. Great people to deal with but that’s a weak offer.
Sooooooooo weak. I like buying from them, but have not taken the plunge, otherwise. They tend to have pretty lowball offers.
Even with fees, eBay is a better choice (for now):

Does the mint sell coins first day at minting locations? If so may be option for people local to areas.
These are struck at the West Point Mint. As far as I know, it is not open to the public.
Tim
I thought I'd be able to get one at leisure with the 1 HH limit. What is the time to check the mint website tomorrow?
You have to be on alert starting 7:00AM ready to jump on your laptop to order one.
As did I. 7:30 EST is when the fun starts.
Successful transactions with forum members commoncents05, dmarks, Coinscratch, Bullsitter, DCW, TwoSides2aCoin, Namvet69 (facilitated for 3rd party), Tetromibi, ProfLizMay, MASSU2, MWallace, Bruce7789, Twobitcollector, 78saen, U1chicago, Rob41281
6:30am central exactly
Typically it's right around 7:30am EST. And yes, be ready to jump!
I'd be interested in what NJC thinks is going on.

Was there only one check out (payment) stand?
Tim
My buddy at the show just reported to me that line is dwindling and there is a dealer at the show offering to but them for $400 to $500 over cost
Yes, but they were very fast.

Seriously? Do you have Gell-Mann's amnesia?
Remember the 5 ounce silver quarters in 2010 and how crazy it was when some bulk buyers got a lot of those? Deja Vu all over.

Shhhh, NJC is still in the mint's waiting room, refusing to refresh or reboot.

I didn't read that fine print close enough.
She's a beauty. I'm looking forward to some better images from other forum members.
What a day!!!! 😊
Congratulations! Did you ask how many were available at the show and if they are saving some for tomorrow?🤔
My buddy reported they just sold out at the show

This is probably the key question. How many coins went to dealers under the US Mint's Authorized Bulk Purchase Program?
Nice pic.
Are you getting her graded?
If so, will you send without the Mint capsule in the 2½ x 2½ mylar flip?
I always put the capsuled coin in the flip, just wondering what others do.
Don’t sneeze
Keep getting error messages and waiting for approval to post so will try this again.
Not mine. Direct link.

When mine arrives it will be submitted to PCGS. Planned on capsule only. Good question and curious what others do.
