Placed an order @ 1158hrs. for a (Christmas gift) of another item and for the Gold Flowing Hair @1202 hrs. A difference of 4825 between the 2 order #'s. "Received email for both @ 1158 &1202 respectively. "Confirmed" emails for the 1158 hrs order @1209 hrs and for the 1202 order @ 1226 hrs. When I clicked the "continue shopping" I was put back into the waiting room for 3 mins. and after was able to add the Flowing Hair to my bag and complete the checkout.

How many of the total already were out to or reserved for the "special" customers who don't wait in line or have product limits?
way more than you will ever know. They are under a Mandate to cut cost and raise profits for themselves and the big boys.
It's important to recognize the U.S. Mint has a checkered history. The really crazy stuff may have stopped in the 19th century but the there's been plenty of shenanigans in the 21st too.
They sold 109,000 of the High Relief coins in 2009, so limiting the mintage to 17,500 makes no sense if the Mint was trying to realize higher revenues & profits.
Que sera, sera. It was such an iconic design, too.
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally
Ran 2 windows starting at 10:55 (CST) and kept refreshing both until waiting room came up at 10:57. Refreshed at 11:00, got in, checked out, confirmed at 11:01 923xxx Got initial email confirming order placed, says a followup confirmation email with more details to follow within 24 hrs. Confirmation email at 11:14. Very impressed with how smooth it went (for once!)
I was fortunate enough to get mine yet my friend who was in the waiting room when redirected to site and the site already said unavailable.

Are the chicken dinner winners going to flip theirs immediately?
One fellow dealer buddy guaranteed me $500 profit last week... ha
We're going to sit on it short term but will likely flip.
Everyone's going to turn their attention to the privy pieces...since it's an auction format they'll go huge because a lot of frustrated buyers will get the fever. If it's a real auction don't be surprised if 5 digits are reached. Seriously.
Edit to add: Anyone know how many went to Baltimore?

I expect all the privy pieces will go higher than simply cresting five-figures. However, I doubt many "frustrated" buyers for the ~$3,600 pieces will end up as serious players for the privy pieces.
I was on the fence. Loved the look of these but that was a lot of money. I was 50/50 on whether or not they would be a first day sellout. I’m surprised (or not?) that we haven't had NJ give us the real scoop yet, since he obviously has a crystal ball.
Well, I’ve been suckered for the last time with the US Mint. I did their survey and said it was disgusting how they were selling so many in presales to the big customers while we all get gouged and have to got to the aftermarket if we want one. I’ll just buy older coins that I love. Buh bye US Mint….😏

Still a line at the Mint table at Baltimore show. Over 2 hours and still available at the Baltimore show with a steady line all morning long
Did they hand out numbers?
Last time, they gave everyone a number up to the number available and then let them in one at a time to purchase. At that time, they were all spoken for in the first half hour of the show but it took 6 hours for my dealer friend to actually get in to purchase. He was 3xx out of 500 available.

Might explain why the online sellout (Not Available) was so quick this morning.
Nothing like having access to a coin that is only available at a show when you know that the secondary market will already give you a great profit if you want to turn around and flip it. 😏

Last time they did a Baltimore release, they only had 500 coins on hand. I would not assume that there are a huge number of coins there.

Maybe they minted 10-12k and are not releasing the rest. That was a crazy sellout.
I don’t see anybody here that anticipated this. The aftermarket pricing will now go up.
And then…..
Are the chicken dinner winners going to flip theirs immediately?
The popularity of this issue can be somewhat measured by the newbies.

I knew it would happen.
Wow!!!!! Never saw that coming. Unbelievable.
Wow! I didn't expect them to sell out so quickly. Frustrating for those that got shut out on website.
Be ready at 7:30 a.m. EST tomorrow morning to try again!😎

RIP Mom- 1932-2012
With the Mint statement on the Silver mintage, and order numbers in this thread, it seems plausible that 10,000 were minted.
149219XX
Completed checkout about 20-30 seconds past noon.
Have they sold out in Baltimore by now?
My US Mint Commemorative Medal Set
Your 219xx is earliest so far posted

About 200 new listings raw and confirmed on eBay in the past hour. Most asking $5,000 OBO range.

Nope. My buddy at the show is telling me still 100 people in line..
I can't convince him to buy one. He says it is over priced and not worth the flipper potential.🙄
I expect to be able to tease him about how wrong he is for many moons! 😂🤣
I’d like to see an in hand photo from Baltimore
Boss lady from Mint keeping us in line…..literally! 😊
Edited to add: she is general manager for Whitman Expo….my bad.
These were sold in the past hour.

Is your buddy from New Jersey?

You can buy a 1795 original for less than these. Of course not a MS70 like these.
Box of 20
There is NO WAY 17,000 sold that fast. Check tomorrow 6:30am central. Sherlock Holmes “ game is afoot”
Not a bad idea for a set! You know, one 1795 Flowing Hair, one 1795 Draped Bust and one 2024 Flowing Hair.

10 to 15% go to ABPP folks. Those are the only people who get advance releases. They also have a product limit but not a HHL of 1.
I managed to snag one at 12:03pm and immediately saw it go unavailable on the product page. Order #14929xxx.
.
Mine is for sale for US$10,000 next year (unopened box) .
Whose stock? Yours or the Mint?
I stayed out and watched from the sidelines. I was on the mint site at noon and it was available had I chosen.
The gold was too pricey for me but that's OK as I was not up for the scramble to order one. Congrats to those who got an order in.
Maybe they could make a silver version, even if it was only a medal and not a coin, so us poorer collectors can participate.
The Mint.
Lol JBK . Yes, If only that could happen.

Balto coin pics?
From a buddy, I am not there.

I left at 2:15 still 50+ folks in line.
Where were the other 10,000?
