This clearly is the origin of the conceptual obverse design- My apologiies that I don't have an image of earlier examples from the late 1840s to share. This is an 1870A 5FR

I noticed that too, but assumed it must just be imaging since both PCGS and CAC gave it a thumbs up. The hunt goes on....

The coin was graded AU 53. I thought it was AU 58 material. Do I need new glasses?

Gold Sticker CAC candidate now. The norm used to be one downgrade (if a crossover) but now seems closer to two.
Will that sort of undergrading pattern help to more quickly usher in CAC's grading service?

Here are photos I took of the raw 1899 O Quarter before sending it in. There are some marks that the TrueView Image doesn't capture:

There's also a small "divot" off the corner of the eye; it looks like a small strike thru to me:

It doesn't seem to me that these minor marks would cause the coin to net grade, but by wear it's certainly not a 53.

Please don't be fooled by the green sticker....it says Watch Dog Coin which I can't even find via Google? It's coming off shortly.

Yes, that is why I thought Id post it here. I knew someone would have had to see it auction somewhere. Its not a coin I could afford, but will be fun to watch to see if even gets a bid. Opening is very high!
