so cards moved backwards in the pizza tracker? from disappeared list back to reappeared list counts in my book. im hoping this is what you are saying bc while not bookmarked, i think i had about 5 bulk orders that were in grading a month ago that reverted back to r&id. not 100%, but fairly confident. the member that posted grades and then reverting back to a lower grade has me convinced that anything is possible with the stages too.

my mind is blown. its a coincidence bc i literally just posted and bookmarked a sub that moved into grading for this specific reason in case it went backwards too. i hadnt felt the need to keep up with each subs individual stage progression or even the grades once theyve popped until very recently. headscratching, for sure.
Overall I am satisfied with the grades, I was hoping for at least a couple more 10;s but who isn't. lol

how many PSA 10s did you realistically expect tho? Did you send in the Jordan, Kobe and Shaq cards knowing that PSA 9s were still okay?
These were some of the best from my collection especially the Shaq’s and Some of the Jordan’s. I was expecting at least 5-10’s since I looked them over a few times and they don’t get much better. I am ok with the 9’a but feel it’s “tougher”to get 10’s from PSA now.
I've been tracking their six busiest categories every day for a few weeks (the three major sports, non-sports, tcg, and hockey).
In those categories, the pops increased 34k yesterday. Previous high was 31k from last Thursday's output. The pops jumped about 18.5k over the weekend in those categories alone.
I know the guy on youtube - retro hoops - was thinking they'd hit 180k per week for all categories soon. Looking like that will be the case, though the holidays obviously prevented any gains last week. I'm guessing they'll at least come close to 170k this week.

The disturbing trend continues. You have a highly critical eye. I tend to send a few more sliders than you do, so I am slightly taken aback to see you get hammered twice in a row. I have an 80s sub in QA2 that has 72 cards in it. At the time (a year ago) I felt good about all the cards I sent. All are low dollar and only wanted as pc items as 10s and on some of them 9s. I have seen strictness come and go over the years, but this is the most prolonged, and by far the most strict. I do not know if this will ever wane.
Wow, @OAKESY25 that was a bloodbath. And the Jeter RC was MinSize. OUCH.
I had an PSA/DNA Express order that has been in Research & ID for weeks, went to grading at 1:06pm today, and by 3:50pm was already marked as shipped. Wow.
I thought the Trout would get a 10, but I'm pleased at least the Berra did, as it was perfect. Musial is properly graded. Overall, I'm happy.

I had about 4600 for hockey the last two weeks out of about 281k for all categories. Yesterday they did 395 and Thursday they did 869.
Absolutely unforgiveable. I am very close to selling everything I have in my to grade pile. This is such a horrible insult to anyone that has done this for some time. It is sickening especially after the announcement of no tightening standards, it is just new submitters accounting for new lower grades. What an absolute joke.

At this point I don't even want my cards back. Seriously, I'd rather they keep them instead of getting them back as 7s and 8s. Sickening is right. To wait over a year (I'm assuming I get poppage in November if I'm lucky), just to receive cards graded on a different grading standard and values from when I sent them. Ridiculous. Mine is just a small 25-card sub, I can't even imagine how mad you guys are who have hundreds or thousands of cards spending over a year in Newport Beach. I've been subbing cards to PSA since 2005, and even though I still have a stack of cards sitting here ready to submit, it's gonna take a lot of convincing before I send any more their way. It sucks man because I loved PSA.
Just a few random notes if it is not noted I expected a 10 and a 9 was livable.
on the 80's and 70's stuff they will blow your mind. I don't miss wrinkles and other issues.
I don't sub crap. All this stuff I have subbed over the past 12-15 yrs, The fact that I hit on 9's tells you I know what I am doing.
I am not subbing an 83 topps Ryan to pull a 7 or 8, if it is a 73 ryan ok.

First off I want to say SORRY, and I definitely know how you feel right now. I'd love to see these when you get them back. I first thought they were dropping cards a grade compared to old standards, but this almost looks like 2 grades. Again, not knowing the cards specifically but knowing your history.

At this point I’d rather PSA just stop what they are doing and work on additional trading for newer graders. Something is off and it’s painful to see these results get posted. So sorry to all involved. I have several modern value orders there now and I’m nervous when orders move along the pizza tracker. All cards I’ve submitted before with a solid history of 9’s and 10’s. Accurate grades is the most important thing for me, I don’t mind the extra wait to get things right.

agree w/ 100% of everything else ya said, but a million times yes to this. its been months on end already. id rather wait some more for a better trained/experienced eye than have them rushed thru and get hammered. whether its 19 prizm or 79 opc, each set has its own allowed characteristic tolerances that dont automatically knock the card down to an 8 off the rip. ie back print lines on prizm or rough cut edges on opc.
its virtually impossible to teach and train someone off the street each sets individual intricacies in a 3, 6, heck even 12 months timeframe to assign grades properly.
in the end, its all just cardboard. but then again it isnt. a broad brush grading system should not be in play and i just cant see how this couldnt be the case w any new grader.
Do you have it broken down to pops by category? Be curious to know the ratio of hockey to the three other major sports over that period.

Comments on tougher grades don't ring true. Many long time submitters on here who have submitted thousands of cards over the years who are complaining of tougher grades. We know an 8 vs a 9 vs a 7 vs a 6.

OMG, ouch.... I feel like I just took a gut punch for you. No way I would doubt your eye or ability to evaluate a card. The 70's with nothing higher than a 6 for a veteran submitter as yourself is just plain unacceptable, insane, gut wrenching and head scratching. I'm at a loss of words.....
Well this is discouraging, I've got two small subs in (my first with PSA). That said, I'm a long time submitter to Becket and all cards I submitted were cracked out of BGS/BVG slabs. I expect them to be lower or the same as Beckett but now I'm not so sure. If I have cards that were 9s come back as 7s I sure will not be sending in my higher dollar cards to be re-slabbed. Of course they have only been in 6 months so I won't know for awhile.
The problem is quite simple to understand and it hurts. The newer stuff is seriously getting over scrutinized and the older stuff is being graded by people without proper knowledge of vintage. They are used to grading new cards and the end result is vintage getting hammered.

notes: ill be honest. in the past, ive never really subbed for dual grading. w/ my pc vintage hof set, i like simply card grade w/ just an authentic sig. modern crowd tends to want factory auto grades too. i know what to look for in a sig like does it run off the card, is it bold or skips, is it smudged and does it run off the sticker. i dont plan on keeping any stickered auto cards for the pc anyways. but i really have zero input on what this looks like in an overall grading aspect. doesnt seem too bad though? the hayes mojo is /25 and culver green choice are /8 and no 10s on anything outta the big two.
A group value modern sub that I participated in flew through from assembly to grades available in 4 days between June 1 and June 5. However, my CC sub has been sitting in shipping since June 3. No rhyme or reason????
CC sub entered 11-24 popped this morning. I'm good with these in our current environment. Thought the Playoff Mahomes was a dime and pleasantly surprised with the Optic Shock. Don't know why I threw in a Coby White.

Comment first on CTD- seems they are working on Sept/Oct bulks as quite a few movements. My Economy crossover came back as expected and all my Economy levels are now finished- hoorah.Bulks all had movement into Grading finally from Research that were Aug/Sept last year so that's good news as well.
Sorry about the Trouts @OAKESY25 . I try not sending too many in at once , as its always been my belief for well over 20 years that PSA grading gets "lazy eye" and then only gems the perfect. Sending one or two eliminates a weak one from popping out too much. They are still giving Gems out these just popped 6/4 and already came back.
I will make my own set of comments based on personal observations of 2600+ slabs that flew thru here the past 2 weeks
Seems PSA grading is spending MORE attention to surfaces and the edges. Just an observation based on those slabs
The print dots, edge issues, size issues, surface issues -- all being caught now. Again-just a personal observation.
May be the new tool in the toolbox coming into play in the grading area (re:Genamint tech)
I see it making a mark against a lot of Gem and turning them into 9's on the slabs I see
Now is it making PSA look bad that PD that used to only get hammered if it majorly detracted from eye appeal are being treated differently now-- which is also something I am seeing ? TBD. Seems like it, but I only have 40 vintage slabs come thru here so far. There's a couple hundred backlogged that I'll see later this summer.
I actually sent 4 test cards in the same bulk these came back on. They caught them all- all were reverse surface tests.
Overall on the first group of PC stuff- no surprises, all popped with expected grades except 3 - and they were HIGHER
Go figure. And two groups of surface related issues- those I know to have surface and chipping as major problems, they continued to be the same. So far whatever they are doing isn't affecting my stuff- yet
Entered 9/11...very pleased with these ($9 each)...Lines 1-56 are my 80 year old brother's. He's never had a lot of $$ to spend on cards, but he got his first 10! Very pleasant surprise on line 77 for me.

WhT are we missing on that Murray that can’t be seen in the scan. That looks like a brutally hard grade. Seldom do you see Murray’s that nice. What PD’s are you talking about? I can’t see anything that would make that card remotely close to a 7

In the past- when it was more "affordable" to test and teach myself- l would insert various series with known surface issues to see how bad the surface issues affect overall grades . Could afford to send 2-3 cards ( $24-26 roughly) to get an idea what I personally needed to look for and teach myself how PSA would treat that series.
I know a lot of card series, but some I just don't slab enough to know EXACTLY what to look for before sending higher gradeable items ( Mint / Gem Mint levels) . I dabble in hoop, and couldn't tell the first thing about certain series that @blurryface or another hoop subber knows off the top of their heads. I have to know exactly how bad each issue affects final grades- otherwise its a waste of money.
These were the testers. Can't tell on pics but in hand turned to a certain angle have various amounts of surface 'waveness" perhaps de to someone putting weight on the cards in the past. Two had actual surface flaws ( dings). Front surfaces were fine as were most corners/edges. Just wanted to test the level of hammering they'll do on future surfaces for types of cards like these. I'd say I did okay in deciphering the high/low aspect.

Well I woke up to grades this morning. I sent this out right at at a year ago. Grades were in line with what I expected at the time, and not what I was currently dreading. This was my last of 4 80s subs. These cards were primarily of players I collect, lower end rookies or in the case of the 1983 Topps Lee Smith, it caught my eye going through it as a particularly nice example

so cards moved backwards in the pizza tracker? from disappeared list back to reappeared list counts in my book. im hoping this is what you are saying bc while not bookmarked, i think i had about 5 bulk orders that were in grading a month ago that reverted back to r&id. not 100%, but fairly confident. the member that posted grades and then reverting back to a lower grade has me convinced that anything is possible with the stages too.
@blurryface yeah the red light where you can edit/ review cards was gone and the cards disappeared. They were like that for 3-4 days then yesterday both economy orders had the cards and red light back. One was gone this AM and popped a couple hours ago and my other one still has the red review light and cards in qa2.
my mind is blown. its a coincidence bc i literally just posted and bookmarked a sub that moved into grading for this specific reason in case it went backwards too. i hadnt felt the need to keep up with each subs individual stage progression or even the grades once theyve popped until very recently. headscratching, for sure.
These were some of the best from my collection especially the Shaq’s and Some of the Jordan’s. I was expecting at least 5-10’s since I looked them over a few times and they don’t get much better. I am ok with the 9’a but feel it’s “tougher”to get 10’s from PSA now.
I've been tracking their six busiest categories every day for a few weeks (the three major sports, non-sports, tcg, and hockey).
In those categories, the pops increased 34k yesterday. Previous high was 31k from last Thursday's output. The pops jumped about 18.5k over the weekend in those categories alone.
I know the guy on youtube - retro hoops - was thinking they'd hit 180k per week for all categories soon. Looking like that will be the case, though the holidays obviously prevented any gains last week. I'm guessing they'll at least come close to 170k this week.
Do you have it broken down to pops by category? Be curious to know the ratio of hockey to the three other major sports over that period.
this order just popped, it was one of my economy orders I was talking about above. The pizza tracker showed
the red light and within 30 minutes the grades popped. Overall bummed with these grades too,
I expected 3 9's and a 6.5-7, I have graded a few 8's over the years and these were way nicer. Thought I might
have a shot at a 10. I am getting killed lately, I have a bulk sub that should pop today or tomorrow. Praying I do better on that one.

The disturbing trend continues. You have a highly critical eye. I tend to send a few more sliders than you do, so I am slightly taken aback to see you get hammered twice in a row. I have an 80s sub in QA2 that has 72 cards in it. At the time (a year ago) I felt good about all the cards I sent. All are low dollar and only wanted as pc items as 10s and on some of them 9s. I have seen strictness come and go over the years, but this is the most prolonged, and by far the most strict. I do not know if this will ever wane.

Wow, @OAKESY25 that was a bloodbath. And the Jeter RC was MinSize. OUCH.
I had an PSA/DNA Express order that has been in Research & ID for weeks, went to grading at 1:06pm today, and by 3:50pm was already marked as shipped. Wow.
I thought the Trout would get a 10, but I'm pleased at least the Berra did, as it was perfect. Musial is properly graded. Overall, I'm happy.

I had about 4600 for hockey the last two weeks out of about 281k for all categories. Yesterday they did 395 and Thursday they did 869.
Absolutely unforgiveable. I am very close to selling everything I have in my to grade pile. This is such a horrible insult to anyone that has done this for some time. It is sickening especially after the announcement of no tightening standards, it is just new submitters accounting for new lower grades. What an absolute joke.

At this point I don't even want my cards back. Seriously, I'd rather they keep them instead of getting them back as 7s and 8s. Sickening is right. To wait over a year (I'm assuming I get poppage in November if I'm lucky), just to receive cards graded on a different grading standard and values from when I sent them. Ridiculous. Mine is just a small 25-card sub, I can't even imagine how mad you guys are who have hundreds or thousands of cards spending over a year in Newport Beach. I've been subbing cards to PSA since 2005, and even though I still have a stack of cards sitting here ready to submit, it's gonna take a lot of convincing before I send any more their way. It sucks man because I loved PSA.

First off I want to say SORRY, and I definitely know how you feel right now. I'd love to see these when you get them back. I first thought they were dropping cards a grade compared to old standards, but this almost looks like 2 grades. Again, not knowing the cards specifically but knowing your history.
I'd also love to see your Rice rc as I have a couple due to be graded in the next couple weeks and I couldn't find any flaws in them, and hoping for a 9 expecting an 8. But Now I'm starting to prepare myself to see a 6.

At this point I’d rather PSA just stop what they are doing and work on additional trading for newer graders. Something is off and it’s painful to see these results get posted. So sorry to all involved. I have several modern value orders there now and I’m nervous when orders move along the pizza tracker. All cards I’ve submitted before with a solid history of 9’s and 10’s. Accurate grades is the most important thing for me, I don’t mind the extra wait to get things right.
This. This year has been painful enough already...
agree w/ 100% of everything else ya said, but a million times yes to this. its been months on end already. id rather wait some more for a better trained/experienced eye than have them rushed thru and get hammered. whether its 19 prizm or 79 opc, each set has its own allowed characteristic tolerances that dont automatically knock the card down to an 8 off the rip. ie back print lines on prizm or rough cut edges on opc.
its virtually impossible to teach and train someone off the street each sets individual intricacies in a 3, 6, heck even 12 months timeframe to assign grades properly.
in the end, its all just cardboard. but then again it isnt. a broad brush grading system should not be in play and i just cant see how this couldnt be the case w any new grader.
Do you have it broken down to pops by category? Be curious to know the ratio of hockey to the three other major sports over that period.

Comments on tougher grades don't ring true. Many long time submitters on here who have submitted thousands of cards over the years who are complaining of tougher grades. We know an 8 vs a 9 vs a 7 vs a 6.

OMG, ouch.... I feel like I just took a gut punch for you. No way I would doubt your eye or ability to evaluate a card. The 70's with nothing higher than a 6 for a veteran submitter as yourself is just plain unacceptable, insane, gut wrenching and head scratching. I'm at a loss of words.....
Dayum - their basketball pops just jumped 18k yesterday (4774587 to 4792834). 13k for baseball (17076602 to 17089899). 7356 for TCG.
44k in their six largest categories.

Well this is discouraging, I've got two small subs in (my first with PSA). That said, I'm a long time submitter to Becket and all cards I submitted were cracked out of BGS/BVG slabs. I expect them to be lower or the same as Beckett but now I'm not so sure. If I have cards that were 9s come back as 7s I sure will not be sending in my higher dollar cards to be re-slabbed. Of course they have only been in 6 months so I won't know for awhile.

The problem is quite simple to understand and it hurts. The newer stuff is seriously getting over scrutinized and the older stuff is being graded by people without proper knowledge of vintage. They are used to grading new cards and the end result is vintage getting hammered.

notes: ill be honest. in the past, ive never really subbed for dual grading. w/ my pc vintage hof set, i like simply card grade w/ just an authentic sig. modern crowd tends to want factory auto grades too. i know what to look for in a sig like does it run off the card, is it bold or skips, is it smudged and does it run off the sticker. i dont plan on keeping any stickered auto cards for the pc anyways. but i really have zero input on what this looks like in an overall grading aspect. doesnt seem too bad though? the hayes mojo is /25 and culver green choice are /8 and no 10s on anything outta the big two.

Comment first on CTD- seems they are working on Sept/Oct bulks as quite a few movements. My Economy crossover came back as expected and all my Economy levels are now finished- hoorah.Bulks all had movement into Grading finally from Research that were Aug/Sept last year so that's good news as well.
Sorry about the Trouts @OAKESY25 . I try not sending too many in at once , as its always been my belief for well over 20 years that PSA grading gets "lazy eye" and then only gems the perfect. Sending one or two eliminates a weak one from popping out too much. They are still giving Gems out these just popped 6/4 and already came back.
I will make my own set of comments based on personal observations of 2600+ slabs that flew thru here the past 2 weeks
Seems PSA grading is spending MORE attention to surfaces and the edges. Just an observation based on those slabs
The print dots, edge issues, size issues, surface issues -- all being caught now. Again-just a personal observation.
May be the new tool in the toolbox coming into play in the grading area (re:Genamint tech)
I see it making a mark against a lot of Gem and turning them into 9's on the slabs I see
Now is it making PSA look bad that PD that used to only get hammered if it majorly detracted from eye appeal are being treated differently now-- which is also something I am seeing ? TBD. Seems like it, but I only have 40 vintage slabs come thru here so far. There's a couple hundred backlogged that I'll see later this summer.
I actually sent 4 test cards in the same bulk these came back on. They caught them all- all were reverse surface tests.
Overall on the first group of PC stuff- no surprises, all popped with expected grades except 3 - and they were HIGHER
Go figure. And two groups of surface related issues- those I know to have surface and chipping as major problems, they continued to be the same. So far whatever they are doing isn't affecting my stuff- yet

Entered 9/11...very pleased with these ($9 each)...Lines 1-56 are my 80 year old brother's. He's never had a lot of $$ to spend on cards, but he got his first 10! Very pleasant surprise on line 77 for me.

In the past- when it was more "affordable" to test and teach myself- l would insert various series with known surface issues to see how bad the surface issues affect overall grades . Could afford to send 2-3 cards ( $24-26 roughly) to get an idea what I personally needed to look for and teach myself how PSA would treat that series.
I know a lot of card series, but some I just don't slab enough to know EXACTLY what to look for before sending higher gradeable items ( Mint / Gem Mint levels) . I dabble in hoop, and couldn't tell the first thing about certain series that @blurryface or another hoop subber knows off the top of their heads. I have to know exactly how bad each issue affects final grades- otherwise its a waste of money.
These were the testers. Can't tell on pics but in hand turned to a certain angle have various amounts of surface 'waveness" perhaps de to someone putting weight on the cards in the past. Two had actual surface flaws ( dings). Front surfaces were fine as were most corners/edges. Just wanted to test the level of hammering they'll do on future surfaces for types of cards like these. I'd say I did okay in deciphering the high/low aspect.

Well I woke up to grades this morning. I sent this out right at at a year ago. Grades were in line with what I expected at the time, and not what I was currently dreading. This was my last of 4 80s subs. These cards were primarily of players I collect, lower end rookies or in the case of the 1983 Topps Lee Smith, it caught my eye going through it as a particularly nice example
