The Jackie may continue to have a slight edge on value in 70 do to the lower pops but this coin should be considered a key based on mintage numbers unless the final numbers go higher.
Gold and silver are valuable but wisdom is priceless.
Don't see that # changing much until final audited numbers late in the year. Inclination is it will remain key. Pop report has a long way to go though... Just received grades today on the last batch sent, so perceiving many more to come.

Based on the history of past commemorative coins how likely is it that the current production numbers for this coin will change after the final audit and if the number changes does it normally increase or decrease? Anyone know?

I like the NP, regardless of whether it holds the "key" designation. It's cool observing market forces at work as it supplants JR. I imagine that There are a lot of TR fans who could be attracted to buying these down the road, but they likely represent a fraction of people attracted to the JR.
My biggest concern is future issues, in particular this year's Boys Town/Father Flanagan, is a reach thematically, IMO, and may encounter hurdles which could lead it to become yet another successor to the title. Personally, though I've collected gold commemoratives for decades, I'm not eager at all for this one.

Same as a week ago so I'm guessing that's the final mintage unless the final audit changes it.

IMO the simple fact that this thread had gone 8 days between posts suggest a very low level of interest in this modern rarity. Bodes poorly going forward for $5 gold commemoratives.................

I agree, there are a couple for sale at $650, no takers. Last one sold was for under $550. Low for a key
I bought one and the other one at $545 each with 10% ebay bucks bonus incentive.
Not sure what I'll get with the $109 kick back from these two purchases.

Yeah maybe wondercoin is going to be collecting on alot of beer bets. I though he was wrong that Boys town would unseat the Parks but then I saw the early sales of Proof Gold eagles for 2017 and thought that's probably another harbinger of collector (in)activity for this year.

To early to tell. If & when PM's rebound, sales should pick up. We have over 8 sales month remaining.
Of coarse it will come down to the last week of sales and how many flippers want to chance it like last time. If the NPS unc is dead at that time then this one will hit new lows. If the NPS goes for double or triple then it may entice more to buy.

I will be drinking free beers in the near future like there is no tomorrow! Lol. Wondercoin.
Yes I am pretty sure I will be sending you some beer money before year end. The first week of Boy's town was truly pathetic, I now wonder if the unc. will even get above 4,000. Time will tell but that was a very slow start for sales.

Where do we go for the free beers? I must've missed out on the offer.
Basically the initial offer was that if you feel the 2016 Nat'l Park Unc. gold will continue to be the lowest mintage (5,150) modern commemorative gold after the final results are in for the 2017 Boy's Town gold Unc., then feel free to offer to bet Wondercoin a microbrew beer, or the funds for one, because he might still be taking bets as he does not believe that will happen.
Sold my NPS PCGS MS70 FS for $910, while the going was hot, a month ago. My unc half's in OGP are selling for double what I paid for. No complaints on this end.

Has the mint announced when they will stop selling these coins? I'm guessing many flippers are setting on the sidelines and will decide to buy or not buy at the last minute.

End of 2017.
Like the NPS coin, most of the sales for the Boy's Town coins will probably be in the last half of December as the flippers and speculators wait until near the end to see how the sales are going.

Looking at the boys town $5 dollar gold sales the proof in very low compared to the UNC. Strange and different. I wonder if the big modern buyers out there are all waiting together until the end of the year to see where sales are. Then if really low sales continue; slowly start buying as to not make a run on the bank so to speak..

Yes, I already sent Justin gift money for a couple beers; make sure he didn't already drink yours.
I don't have any hope for enough sales in December to even come close to the Park and Jackie numbers.
This coin is another reason why the Mint needs to make some changes. Yes, it will probably be the new a low mintage, but does anyone even care enough to throw more money at it?

5150 it is. Key.

You need to check the completed auctions for the unc half dollar....nice profit for anyone who held on to them. ($40+)
I bought one and the other one at $545 each with 10% ebay bucks bonus incentive.

5150 appears to be the final number.
Now, time to sell and break even on the Mint's new modern key.

There's a FS-eligible sealed box on BST for $575. Decent price, imo.
