The coins I returned had issues. They may have been worth more anyway but I wanted to assure a new mintage low key. I have others I kept that I presume will be worth more because of the return.

Spot on. I think that you are 100% correct!! Well done!!
Interesting, yet I wonder if teamplayers return will be recorded before the mint drops this coin from the weekly report listing. If not its probably a case of wait for the final audit.

Thank you! MY check is in the mail for your services! haha, j/k, btu seriously, we all thank you! How many are you keeping?
I don't know off hand the date the coins arrived. I know when they were picked up and signed for and when they were returned. I also confirmed the return with the mint.
Don't know what to make of it, take it for what it's worth. Sent a number of dogs back to the Mint which show received there on the 9th. After a brief call was assured I would receive replacements, (though my gut said no.) Just now hung up with "Kamisha," a supervisor who said "when we received them on the 9th no replacements were available, we refunded your account." New key in place & possibly at the Mint's behest. Ok with me though, I overspent to begin with.
For me, the key date is the most expensive coin in the series. If this Parks coin has a lower mintage by 6-25 coins it won't necessarily fetch the price Jackie does. If Jackie is fetching $1100 raw and this coin is only fetching $800, is it really the key?
I also disagree with moderns survival rate being 100%. They're gold and unpopular, making them susceptible to the melting pot.

I don't think rare key date gold coins are normally sent to the melting pot.

It might take a while, but I think the unc. Parks will eventually catch up with Jackie. It took over a decade for the Jackie to reach its highest price. Even after the low mintage was known, the unc. Jackie was available at under $500 for quite a while.

This is a good age to live in. I used to fantasize about buying low mintage commems from the mint in the early 1900s. The latest crop of commems have some seriously low mintages, even when compared with the earlier issues.
Still, we've all seen how early commemoratives have fared in the last 20 years..

Very good point. The mint could pull 2015 spouse coins at any moment now. For example, The sale number of lady bird Johnson unc. Gold is only about 1720. Also the spouse key will be known for sure soon. But the $5 key will likely change every few years.
Anyway, I see at least 100 return next week. After that price may spike but soon will level off. Bottom line, next couple of weeks may be a good time window to sell.
Where did you get your info from? Nowhere near 100 returns last 2 weeks.
Hey Analyst...........Still waiting to hear from you...............
I can't fathom why anybody would return one, esp. the "flipper's delights" sold over the last two months or so. Honestly, nobody seems to have given a rip for the design (which I find pleasant enough). Surely there will not be much more of a drop.

This week the production number for the NP dropped by 18 coins from the prior week. Next week it only has to drop by 6 coins to tie the Jackie Robinson. I'll be very surprised if this coin doesn't become the new key to the modern gold commemorative series. I also like the design of this coin and I think the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service is actually a worthy subject for a commemorative coin.

My assistant picked up the package opened the box and gave me the coins to sort. Wow... It's like I'm on trial. All good.
@teamplayer1 Hi and welcome to the PCGS boards. Your not on trial. We had a member recently that came on and was very new and very combative with other members. So we are just being cautious. Acquaint yourself with the rules and enjoy the boards!. Lots of smart good people on here and I for one have learned a lot in the past 15 years. Thanks for your post.

I feel like I'm watching a horse race but in slow motion. If it beats out the Jackie it will be by Teddy's nose.
This was like a horse race where your horse is winning by a mile, then some spectator comes in and shoots your horse in the foot, right before the finish line.
He may still win if he can learn to run with 3 legs but the race itself is tainted and the finish line is now further away
What a great and accurate narrative! Spectator is "dead on!" What a shame! Good still, but could have been much better. I can't help but wonder if some historical writing will someday show the damage caused by "blab, blab, blab, blab, blab?" Nothing added, nothing gained!
This could of been a big key if no one side any thing.....
Not me! I liked her out the gate. Much better than Jackie's decapitated head. It's twice the diameter of the Pan Pac $2.50 gold coin and has 1,700 less minted.

Not a valid comparison. The survival rate on modern gold commems is close to 100% while the survival rate on classic gold commems is much smaller to the point that their mintages aren't really relevant to their rarity.

For the time being I'm hoarding the rest. Not that many. I may try to buy more on eBay while the price is stable.
MANY of the posts in this thread smell like manipulation!
Scepticism is warranted.
Manipulation? How so?
Teamplayer, if you dont mind, what date did the coins arrive at the post office?
The mint is a bureaucracy. Just hope the 12 returned coins get recorded properly. You never know. Guess we will know next week.
Box of 20
I don't know off hand the date the coins arrived. I know when they were picked up and signed for and when they were returned. I also confirmed the return with the mint.
Fair enough... do you remember what date you ordered?
Eh, I don't see anything wrong with anything here. What is the difference in the mint creating a new key date, or the collectors doing it?
Um, you had 12 at purchase price. Why would you buy any off of ebay when you are going to pay at least $100 morw?
Non FS 70 just sold for $781 true auction.
A day or two before the cut off.
I would buy certified 70's. I returned coins that were not 70's.
F/S PCGS 70 sold for $895 (BIN) 1/18
There is another F/S PCGS 70 up...ebay.com/itm/112275267440?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Yes I see it, kinda big to be missed by the boys... May be a shadow or something else.. Maybe a different variety!!

Last few $550 - $645.
Just wait for the story in the coin press that the NP is the new key. Prices will continue to move up.
This could of been a big key if no one side any thing.....
Hoard the keys.
As of Jan 24, 2017
Six more Non FS 70's
Does the US Mint monitor this board to observe the goings on?
Maybe the Jackie can "steal home" to secure low mintage honors.
She grows on you.....here's an MS70 TrueView.
