    Bring Gruden and Mike back......PLEASE!

Beth Mowins on play-by-play and Brian Griese as color. They are not the trouble. The game is being played so poorly so far. It’s almost like a pre season game. This in MNF’s B team. The A team is calling the Rams- Raiders game. Gruden sucked as the color guy

The "A" team for the second game is a guy that should have been playing TE for Dallas yesterday and the other guy I have never heard of!

@Justacommeman ……..I feel your pain man. My team use to have a guy that played like Stafford is playing tonight.

The A team maybe as far as commentators but the B team as far as AFC west.
Yes those unlovable loser Raiders. I'm predicting a fairly easy win for the Rams.

Sam Darnold's first NFL pass goes for a pick 6.

Since then he's been very good with a couple of TD passes. Looking dominant in Detroit. I am cautiously optimistic, LOL..

Good for the Jets. El stinks for the Lions. They should give those poor fans their money back

I took a couple of sips from my SD and the game changed! I like this one a lot better. B)

Yep, the Jets did the right thing, drafted a quarterback at the #3 pick in the first round, and got positive results.

However, even if Sam Darnold was a bust, the Jets still made the right percentage move to try to bring a Super Bowl win to the Jets. After all, if that's not the ultimate goal of a NFL team owner, then shame on them.

Frankly, I don't care if the Eagles kick the Patriots arze again or the Jets arze in the upcoming Super Bowl, either scenario is fine with me. B)

Damn i went out when it was 10-7, i wasn't expecting NY to drop 48 on the Lions.
After that first bad pass he finished with a 116 passer rating, 9.4 average per pass and was pretty efficient on the night going 15/21. I know its only one game but what a start, congrats.

Riaders look lethargic out there after an emotional start. Carr has really reverted after that injury a couple of years ago it seems.

Tough roller coaster ride with this kid, for some reason I’m always rooting for this kid to get it together. I understand it’s the NFL and they are strict on their substance abuse policies but damn to have a 20 something kid in a position where he can NEVER have another drink is a really tough thing, the drugs are one thing but a few drinks is another. Hopefully he gets picked up by some team and is ok going forward

No question he has tremendous talent. The substance abuse combined with mental health issues have derailed a once promising career.

Gordon reminds me of a Justin Blackmon, that kid had the potential to be a Moss or T.O

Somebody will pick Gordon up. Not sure he is worth it given his off the field issues with substance abuse but he has talent so some team will give him another chance.

I benched Newton for Mahomes this week in one of my leagues. I'm feeling pretty good about that move.

He just tied for the most TDs in nfl history over the first two games of the season. With the way Pitt's defense has played today,he'll probably get that 10th TD.

Ownership isn't just thinking Cousins will bring home a Super Bowl. They are banking on it.

Oh, they must have missed the NFC Championship game then. Just to clue them (and anyone else) in Philly is upgrading their QB too. Other positions as well.

Ridiculous to assume that giving 84 million dollars to a QB who had worse numbers than the guy we already had is going to guarantee anything, much less beating an Eagles team that DESTROYED the Vikings.

    Can you say "delusional"?

Vikings needed a backup at QB, but they better guess right if they are counting on O-Line help in the draft. Kalil was a bust and so was Yankey, Elflein seems to be ok if he can stay healthy.

I have never seen Cousins as more than an average QB at best.

I think he's better than average, but I've never understood the mentality of those who rate him among the elites. He wasn't even playing in New York City. ;)

Seriously I can't see this guy leading any team to the promised land unless the rest of the team is far better than anyone else.

Better get them now because he looks like the real deal and his rookies might not come back down to these current prices again. Its crazy that he's been this good and both games were on the road.

Saquon Barkley with another "stellar" performance:

    11 carries for 28 yards

At this rate he should break Emmitt Smith's rushing record perhaps sometime around the year 2080.

Sure he caught passes, but running backs don't earn their money from pass receiving.

You don't draft and pay a #2 overall pick running back to catch 14 passes in a game and rush for 28 yards. That is a recipe for losing which is precisely what the Giants did yesterday.

I’m happy the Giants lost and I hope Barkley is a bust. What I’m saying is that he has the ability to get the ball and not one dimensional. We went over this type of conversation years ago about Reggie Bush, I will always say at the early part of the draft you should take a QB, Lineman or DB never a RB

  • galaxy27galaxy27 Posts: 7,861 ✭✭✭✭✭

the eye test told me a completely different story, and my assertion months ago that the Giants should draft him has nothing to do with it. Barkley looked like the real deal to me last night. he has a burst, he's cat quick on his feet, and he's a load to bring down. he only rushed for 28 yards because the Giants' o-line royally sucks, period. he had nowhere to go in between the tackles. but when Eli tossed him the rock out in space, he was then able to showcase his skills. dude looked like the tasmanian devil out there, spinning and cutting on a dime while he was absolutely motoring.

if the G-men had taken a QB @ #2, Eli would be dead by the end of the season. no respect for the running game whatsoever, crap offensive line........defenses would have been pinning their ears back and the pocket would have been collapsing even quicker than it did last night.

Well, so far except for that one long touchdown run in the previous game, Barkley's rushing has been dreadful. That is a bit alarming, for whatever the reason.

Remember that running backs aren't like any other drafted player position except for kickers. Other positions, except for RB's and kickers, usually take time to develop. RB's are normally ready to competently play up to speed in the NFL right in their first game.

I'm not saying that Barkley wouldn't have been a good pick and a good fit for some other team, but not for this particular Giants team at this particular time.

What you're basically saying is the Giants don't have a decent right guard and right tackle. Well, they should have fortified those positions previously, before drafting a RB with the #2 overall pick in the draft.

Having a RB catch passes is icing on a cake in the NFL. But right now, the Giants have no cake in which to place any icing.

Odell Beckham, the star WR the Giants just paid a boatload of money, had a meager 4 catches for 51 yards in the loss to the Cowboys. Yes, it's a passing league, but the passing game focus must be successful with WR's, you know the guys who are paid to catch the ball. Otherwise at the end of the season, the Giants will have a RB with marvelous receiving stats, but a dismal won-loss record.

The Ginats need to address the OL. They were terrible last night. Tom Brady wouldn't be able to lead this team to victoiry with that kind of protection.

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 9,012 ✭✭✭✭✭

those 14 receptions by Barkley was their run game. I've seen NE do this probably a hundred times over the years where their run game is bottled up so Brady hits his WR/TE/RB with a quick pass to get 4 to 5 yards at a time instead.

The bigger problem the Giants have is when the weather starts getting colder and more inclement later in the year on the East coast, and the passing game becomes tougher, and the running game more important.

Sorry to say but the Giants seem to have forgotten how to put together a winning football team in the NFC East. And for many years they were one of the best at it.

I actually don't know what has been going on in the Giants front office, but whatever it is, it certainly isn't good.

I thought overall he played well despite the two picks. He was the victim of a couple of key dropped passes and the fumble by Anderson. He is still green but I like the way he carries himself and even being down 20-0 I still felt the Jets were in the game and they battled back to their credit. I have no problem going through the growing pains because I do think the future is brighter for the franchise with Darnold at the helm.

Understood. However the bottom line is that the Giants are 0-2.

Next Sunday the Giants fly down to play the Texans who are also 0-2.

That game will be a dogfight as neither team wishes to go a dismal 0-3.

The Giants lose that game and their season is basically over.
