Looks like Brees re-signed for two more years with the Saints. I just saw that the Rams had already traded for both Marcus Peters & Aquib Talib, that secondary just got much better but both guys are major league knuckleheads.
I'd say the biggest head-scratcher signing so far has to be KC giving WR Sammy Watkins 30M guaranteed coming off a 39 catch/536 yard season.

Its reported that Cousins going to the Vikings is a done deal but i haven't heard the pricetag yet.
Philly added DT Haloti Ngata after trading for Michael Bennett a few days ago. Arguably they already had a top 2-3 defensive line before adding these two.
edit: Cousins is expected to sign a 3year 84M fully guaranteed deal

What did ya think...that we'd be satisfied winning the Super Bowl once every 52 years?
Cousins going to visit Vikings staff Wednesday night, expected to sign on Thursday
Just heard a crazy stat, after Cousins signs this deal the four highest paid NFL players going into the 2018 season are Cousins,Garopollo,Stafford & Derek Carr....who haven't won a single playoff game between them.

Cousins comes off that list 11 months from now I bet
Danny Amendola is signing with the Dolphins

Sam Bradford to AZ, ugh. Over/under on how many games he's healthy?
Not sure but Sam knows how to get paid. He's been paid $114M & counting for a total of 34 wins.
Teddy Bridgewater is going to the Jets

Danny Amendola/Dolphins terms, per source:
2 years, $12M (incentives in there), $8.25 guaranteed.
He'll be a HUGE loss come crunch time but good for Danny for getting a decent deal after three paycuts in three years.

I hate to see Danny Playoff leave but glad he got paid after dealing with Patriots brass and being such a great Patriot.
Tell ya this much I’m shocked KC shelled out 40 million for Sammy Watkins
Speaking of shocked, I’m reading Green Bay is going to cut Jordy Nelson AND sign Jimmy Graham
I'm glad he was able to get a decent deal but from the Miami standpoint this makes no sense. They trade Landry then sign Danny who has shown he can't holdup for an entire season. He fit perfectly here because the Pats would use him sparingly throughout the season so he was healthy come playoff time. In Miami he'll be expected to contribute every week.
Seeing Malcolm Butler leave for Tennessee sucks to but at least he got his big payday. Also helps he'll play in Mike Vrabel's version of the Pats system along with his former CB partner Logan Ryan.

That’s why they are the Miami Dolphins and not the New England Patriots.
Thats all 3 of the other AFCE teams in a nutshell.

Word is money is guaranteed, too. Talk about a nice parlay for a guy who hasn't won a playoff game.

Also hearing Bridgewater is headed to the Jets. I like him but can be stay on the field?

Take what he made the past two years on the tag then add his next three season salaries and he'll have a 5 year stretch where he'll have made 130M-ish in total guaranteed money.

It's a team game. We'll see how he does with some good skill players on offense and a very good defense.
After Keenum got them to the NFC CHampionship game last season, anything less than a Super Bowl berth should be considered a bust for that kind of investment.

dion lewis gone to the titans too . half the patriots are going to be gone , that would be normal if they won the super bowl but its a lot of cap space they seem to be freeing up for something.
Keenum didn't get them to the NFC Championship game any more than the defense or his three good receivers. The rebuilt offensive line may have been the key factor actually.
I would have resigned Keenum and spent the money on the offensive line, a situational pass rusher and a defensive back.
Just because you give a guy a boatload of money doesn't mean a thing, Cousins will have to prove he can lead a team that has a lot of good players.
We'll see.
I'd say Nate Solder would be the biggest loss of all if he doesn't re-sign in NE,which is looking like he probably won't. There are rumors that the Pats are going after Ndamukong Suh.

I'm not debating any of that. My point is that ownership is expecting a return on that 90 million dollar contract and that's to get this team over the hump and to the Super Bowl. Otherwise, resigning an essentially journeyman QB like Keenum and investing that money elsewhere would have been the more prudent move
Time will tell if that investment pays dividends.

Supposedly Patriots have made a contract offer for QB AJ McCarron although Scott Zolak says its probably not true.

Nate Solder going to the Giants 4yrs/60M
They better go find another Left Tackle to protect Brady's blindside.

I'll bet Glennon starts more games than Bradford and he's actually an upgrade to the 2nd/3rd string QBs they've had the past few years.
I wonder why they didn't go after McCarron? I think his upside is as good if not better than Bradford & Glennon.

Still trying to figure out the new coaching staff, but McCarron may have turned them down for a chance to go to NE.
I don't think he signs in NE if that story was even true. Are the Cards the team you root for?

Carlos Hyde to the Browns - they state they are still looking at Barkley in the draft although I think they would be foolish not to take DE Chubb then go QB at 4. McKinnon to 49’ers
Patriots are just melting away their chances at another run, players flying out the door. Butler, Lewis, Amendola, Solder...who’s next????
I totally agree with Joe Banzai, if I were the Vikes I would have kept Bridgewater and Keenum and spent the rest of that fat contract money they gave Cousins on OL and another DB
Yup and knowing Bill Belichick's free agency/compensatory picks history i doubt he makes any major signings like Gilmore last season. Right now they'd be on track to get two 3rd round comp picks in 2019 after Solder & Butler got huge deals not to mention the Dion Lewis signing probably gets them a 4th round comp pick. The only signing that i could see NE make that screws that up would be signing Suh or McCarron to decent deals.

They're my local team, Colts first, then Cards.
I’m not so sure why McCarron is considered a hot commodity by any team, the kid has not done a single thing in his short career. Albeit no fault of his own but it is what it is
True but you know Bradford can't stay healthy and Glennon isn't nothing special himself,if i had a choice of the three i'd pick McCarron. He probably wouldn't cost close to the 20M Bradford is getting either.

always a good day when your favorite team signs a fellow alum from your smallish alma mater
Allen Robinson, Cameron Meredith, Taylor Gabriel (^), Trey Burton, Jordan Howard................hopefully these play toys for Mitchy Poo will prevent us from being bitch-slapped on a weekly basis
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Agreed Eric, not a chance I’d trust Bradford as my starting QB much less pay him 20 million a year, I think potentially the best free agent QB for the money out there is Bridgewater, if he is healthy ofcourse
He could turn into a really good signing for the Jets if he finally comes back healthy and if not they brought back Mccown. If i were the Jets i would wait to see what Bridgewater looks like and not use that high 1st on a QB.

Both of these guys are big question marks. Bradford was especially troubling last year when he missed the entire year with soreness in the knee, Bridgewater was a great short to medium range passer, but blew out his knee while simply dropping back to pass in practice.
If Bradford can play he is a VERY good QB, but for how long? One year contract seems reasonable, but at 20 Million?
A big part of Teddy's game was his mobility, if his injury was a fluke, he should be a solid but not great player.
Pats re-signed RB Rex Burkhead to a 3 year deal. If he can stay healthy he can be a decent replacement for Dion Lewis with more snaps.

If ownership thinks adding Cousins is enough to beat Philadelphia, they will be sadly mistaken.
A QB on his back won't win many games. Minnesota has a good left tackle, a promising center (although he was hurt twice in his first year) a problem at right tackle and an old guy at one guard spot, unless the right tackle (Remmers) can become a good guard. Line is average and doesn't seem to have depth. Injuries have plagued the O line for several years.
If Brady isn't sacked and fumbles, do the Patriots win the SB?
Defense is strong for at least the next two years, but lack of pass rush at end of last year was noticeable.
the Vikings will add offense line help via the draft. they should be in the superbowl within one to three years
Speaking of the Vikings, they just traded for Broncos QB Trevor Siemian

that was dumb
late round pick for him, maybe not so dumb if his pay isn't more then 2 million per year
Ownership isn't just thinking Cousins will bring home a Super Bowl. They are banking on it.
