American league east championship is just a T shirt slogan like the ridiculous first to 100 wins T shirts they are selling. Wake me up when they win a round or even a playoff game with Price as the starter
Another wasted ESPN broadcast tonight with the Sox vs Indians. Assuming it's ARod, etal, I'll not be watching. I think that announcing team is painful to listen to, and why ARod has been hired by ESPN to do games is beyond me, it's like he never had a PEDs problem, just laughing and joking, like he never tried to game the system. A year suspension seems like it never happened.
At some point BTW, Tito is gonna have his teeth fall out with all the bubble gum he goes through. I noticed he has his own JUMBO 5 lb bucket of Dubble Bubble gum container near him. He wraps chewing tobacco around each piece right after he softens it up. This and his incredible obsession with grape popsicles, having once eaten 17 during one game!! STRANGE!
He'll always be a fan fav in Fenway, quirks and all.
I might be on an island but this 106 Wins has done nothing for me except think about how badly they need to NOT end up like the Mariners when they set the record for wins.
The offense/defense got the Sox to 106...the pitching was and remains a bit iffy...especially the bullpen, which I think may be their downfall going forward.
Almost meaningless double header today with the Orioles...not sure how a team's players can be motivated to really excel, given the fact that they have to look at that AL East Division standings in left field, showing them about 60 games out.

Supposedly the sox bullpen is number one league wide in WAR
I'll leave it for a stat guru to explain how that works , unless its a measure of the terror you feel watching them try to finish a game
Bronco...I get the WAR thing, Wins Above Replacement, and all the theoretical mumbo jumbo the goes along with this stat. This is a stat, that IMO, is over used and waaaaay too much value place therein. It just makes statisticians have a job and show off their number crunching prowess.
Perhaps my point on the bullpen could have been a bit more clear...the remaining 5 games, other than enjoying watching Aaron Boone suffer the indignity of watching the Red Sox wrap the season in the Fens, are just going through the motions.
However, the upcoming ALDS has a "win 3 or go home" attached to it. Therefore, the bullpen may well have a substantial impact in the outcome, should a Red Sox starter falter...as we've all seen in the past, bar none. The Red Sox don't have 162 games to go through the machinations of win some, lose some...it's 3 out of 5, or go on your European vacation.
Then comes the ALCS best of 7, wherein it's win 4 or go home...again, a limited opportunity to both teams to win and move on or not...then of course the WS, again win 4 or see ya next year.
The WAR stats do not throw, catch or hit the ball...it's just a made up number with a decimal, which includes a theoretical assumption on the part of the number cruncher.
Hopefully, the bats and defense are active enough to have the bullpen pitchers have little or no impact. However, given the talent ahead facing the Red Sox, I think they may well have their work cut out for them. Matters not to me if they win 111 games, or lose the next 5...the prize is ahead.
To my point...what stat explains Price's hideous implosion today? Back to back homers, 2nd inning and a 50 pitch outing, while giving up 3 runs...after the Red Sox put up 5 in the first. This to the worst team in the Division, if not all of MLB!
They all have bad days, Price just had an uber bad day...as have the bullpen guys over time. Stats are just that s-t-a-t-s.

Last night's dismal bullpen performance is exactly what I was referring to... Kimbrel was a TOTAL EMBARASSMENT and not worthy of being the Red Sox closer. His performance has, at times, been spotty at best, last night was his worst, and this against the worst team in baseball. From about the 7th inning on, the Red Sox bullpen relievers looked like single A wannabes.
Mark my words!! The Red Sox bullpen is the BIG weak link going forward, even Steve Lyons commented on it. Stephen Wright may be the only bright spot with his knuckle ball, which appears to be working ok. Stats mean nada!!
I think the unknown is the Red Sox bullpen. If they perform, the Red Sox move on...if not...see ya next year. Wright's knuckleball has been the saving grace lately...other relievers kinda shaky.
Then again, anything can happen. Can McCutchen handle the quirks of wall ball, or does Boone put Gardner back in left, who is much more familiar with playing the angles. Voit can crush, but so can the Red Sox.
I also think base stealing will play a big part in this series...gotta get key hits with RISP situations. Too many LOBs will sink the ship.

A lot of very confident Yankee fans. Time for some shock and awe on those sissies.
As Curt Schilling once said, nothing better then to walk into Yankee Stadium and shut 60
thousand mouths. Hopefully Cora will instill that attitude into his team.
60 thousand ? That was back in the days when they could actually sell out the place. Have to be content to shut 15 thousand mouths now
The old Boston Braves used to have a saying.
Spahn, Sain and pray for rain,
The Sox saying should be as follows.
Sale, Price ( if he feels like pitching ) and pray the sox batters remember they are suppose to keep hitting the ball once someone gets on base because their bullpen is asleep.

Wife just committed us to dinner Saturday night with neighbors...
I personally would call the cops if my wife did that.
Thought about it.
Well, the other couple are Yankee fans...but not obnoxious Yankee fans, they take the ribbing pretty well. They're from Northern New Jersey, we enjoy their company. Hopefully I'll catch the last few innings, dinner reservation is for 6:30, then the obligatory socializing.
All set to record.
On a personal note, only one of two guys has paid me their $100 bet...I'd like to think the other is just on a business trip, as I know he travels to Chicago a lot...he's an attorney, he can easily handle the $$, BUT, I will extra bust him for not ponying up last time I saw him...ever get the BS..."I'll get it to you next week?? He will pay dearly for dragging his feet, I'm a professional abuser when it comes to a Yankee fan that's lost a bet to me...trust me!!
Hope Price has his A-game tonight, and the bats are hotter.
Devers is not in the lineup as the sox can't afford his errors. He can hit for sure but until he learns how to throw Cora does not like to put him in there.
Hembrey replaces Wright on the roster.
The TBS Network has two “Yankee homer” announcers on tonight. These guys are so enthralled with their “home team” that they keep saying “Boston and the Yankees.” It only gets more biased from there.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I am glad Trump and judge Janine were on last night so I did not even see the first 3 innings and once I saw the score I did not watch much more of their horrible play anyway. Price for sure will not opt out as he could not get that kind off money form any other suckers. If the sox make it out of NY I will be very surprised.

AMERICAN LEAGUE EAST CHAMPIONS 2018
What a comeback win after the slam...Mookie Betts!!!!
Liked the way they clinched. At Yankee Stadium and a come from behind win to boot.
The rookies did good tonight.
7 or 8 walks and a grand slam , without mookie we lose that game . hanging by a thread
100% agreed

Pomerance really sucks !
The yankees lose again! If they keep doing that they will be going tp Oakland for the wild card game,
so Joe Kelly not in the 25 man postseason roster, right? Please?
106 wins. Unbelievable
Cora has had the opportunity the past 2 weeks to pick the best players for the postseason so lets hope he chooses wisely.
I might be on an island but this 106 Wins has done nothing for me except think about how badly they need to NOT end up like the Mariners when they set the record for wins.
I am happy they won those games as it was good entertainment but am a little unsure if they can keep it up in October. Hope they do !

Price's brain is the problem not his physical abilities . There is really no cure for what ails him
We will remain cautiously optimistic that the Sox will continue on throughout the playoffs and WS. Pretty much all a fan can do. Think positive!
Check out Kimberly’s stat line in game 2 of the double header. I’d post it here, but I’d probably vomit

They should hold a high place in the Forum...after all, they're spanking the Yankees 7-0 right now.
Here they come ! Hope Sale and the bullpen are ready !
GO SOX!!!
Here we go. Probably go the full 5 games, just the way the networks would want it. More advertising money to be made.
I think the unknown is the Red Sox bullpen. If they perform, the Red Sox move on...if not...see ya next year. Wright's knuckleball has been the saving grace lately...other relievers kinda shaky.

I'll sneak peeks on my phone...and record the game.
I say bring on the Yankees.

That game was on Cora. Start to end, wrong personnel and no motivation to win
Price can’t handle the pressure of a Yankee playoff game. End of discussion
The team played poorly, from the first pitch to the last out. They deserved to lose.
Not surprised about Price. I had hoped for the best from him. Still think will go 5 games. On to NY and lets win there.
