"There's no loss there. 5 sets for $169 is about $155 net. Cost of 5 sets is $155"
Your math is flawed....assuming he owns an eBay basic store
6% eBay fee= $10.00
3% PayPal fee=$5.00
5 sets mailed via USPS Priority padded envelope - 5 would not fit into a small flat rate box (weighing over 16 oz) $6.25.
Even with the 10% kickback in FVF, seller would not clear more than $149 at the most creating a loss of about $6.

Okay, got my last strike sets. (Bought 2...)
Now I'm ready for those 10K sets to be released on Black Friday....
I wish someone in the press would query them on the numbers and their plans. I fully expect some more to reappear at some time. My only desire is for them to hit $45 for one day so I can make fun of Best Day FOREVER!

Well, I was kind of ignoring the shipping. Can't even know if he paid for shipping or what commercial shipping rate he might get.
Frankly, also can't know what he paid for them. They have been moving on the secondary market (dealer to dealer) at $28 each.
My point was that it is much closer than coinpalice's post suggests.
I have been collecting coins since the 60's. Just buy what i like to have and do not care about the resale. Only flipped a few mint items to remind me of the old days. By old days I mean Beanie Babies. God bless Ty Warner. I made enough to pay off my house, pay for my daughters college, wedding and buy her a house a still put away enough for a very comfortable retirement. Now I just buy what I want just to have it.

When I looked it was over 40 available then few min later less then I saw 22 and ordered 5 sets more. But good thing that I was able to get 3 sets of United States Mint Limited Edition 2017 Silver Proof Set early this morning 4:30am my time. I am wondering if those sets were returns or not.

Returns or cancellations. That's all they have
hopefully not returns. Thinking to grade Eagle from this set.

LOl ,, Set Currently unavailable .. with a remind me button to buy later .. No Sold Out Banner posted by Mint
More sets on the way
You are smarter than that. First of all, there will be cancellations or returns from the 1000+ per day they sell. The NEVER EVER GO DIRECTLY TO SOLD OUT. Look at the limited edition silver. They've have 50,000 souls for two weeks, but they have a hand full of cancellations or returns every day.
They very well might find the missing 15,000 sets. They might very well call it sold out at 210,000 or 215k or 219k. You SIMPLY CAN NOT TELL from the "Currently Unavailable". It always spends some time there before they go to sell out. ALWAYS.

I also note the return time from all those sales passed and they better be en route now.
The next two or three weeks numbers should be very interesting.
I think you're wrong about the 17,000, but we'll definitely see a few hundred more. They sold like 10,000 in the last two weeks. There will be returns/cancellations.

Sorry, i was busy with iPhones last night - this AM.
Glad to see them unavailable again. I don't think the 17k are coming back fwiw (just a guess).
They are not needed at this point. A couple of thousand on eBay is enough supply to depress the market for years.
Like to see some data on this. (who is posting bids, who is posting live sells and where are they posting them)
I run on the biggest wholesale trading network and there is ABSOLUTELY NO ACTIVITY on these sets at ANY price.
Dealer to dealer at shows and by phone. Lot of people holding a lot of sets. Some looking to lighten up. I got offered some last week. Every time I talk to someone they've been offered. I also have to admit none of them took the offer.

Thats really not a market. A market is a posted buy sell spread
I strongly disagree. At many shows most of the sales are dealer-to-dealer. To argue that having numerous buyers and sellers does not constitute a market is silly. By definition (google):
noun
1.
a regular gathering of people for the purchase and sale of provisions, livestock, and other commodities.
"farmers going to market"
2.
an area or arena in which commercial dealings are conducted.
"the sale of cruisers in the American market continues to plummet"

LOl ... $$ 28 ?? buy price no way ... such number pushed by some who bought too many sets.... Doubt there will any activity on these sets for a long time ..Those holding sets, better to sell on the bay
Some B&Ms buying the set to sell on ebay,,.. A very large local coin wholesaler , passes on buying the 225th set
This is the tenth time I've changed the title to this thread.
This also happened with the Platinum Proof. A few more would appear every time it got flipped to not available.
It's like the Mint is reading CU and they're playing with our heads: "Okay, the EU set went to unavailable, move a couple hundred more into inventory. Let's see what those losers comment about it this time..."
It would be great fun on their side, don't you think?
no noticeable pickup in sales on e bay on these sets when they went unavailable. I don't think people are buying the unavailable game by the mint anymore. going to take a sold out posting by the mint to create reality
I want to thank all the posters in this thread for two reasons. First, when the thread was young, I was reminded to pick up a couple of sets for my collection. And I might have missed that without this thread. Second, as the thread has aged, it has provided me with hours of entertainment reading about the cliff-hanging issue of "Are they or are they not available?"

feel free to put me on ignore.
Maybe you want to spend some more time discussing glue with the other trolls.
Just funny comments. I like this set and purchased five myself.
two for the grand kids and three for myself.

I bought the last 2. LOL. Assuming my order went through before someone else.
CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE!

I have some Incan sell at cost
Around 100

how may more do you have left?!?!?
LOl ,, Set Currently unavailable .. with a remind me button to buy later .. No Sold Out Banner posted by Mint

More than 100
There will never be a "sold out" banner until all the CC issues, returns etc. are accounted for. Nothing different here...
The LEPS is not listed as "sold out" either....

I did think I was low-balling when i said there would be 100 available at 0730

At the Mint's recent sales rate, a couple of thousand on eBay is enough supply to depress the market for less than a week.

Over 100 available at 0730
Good to see that it's re-re-re-re-available again.
We need another number to see if the “missing” 17,000 have resurfaced or if it’s a lower number.....
