I was thinking about sending my Oregon trail piece in
I haven't seen PCGS slab anything that wasn't cataloged in Krause yet but it may be worth trying as I've seen PCGS slab more items that don't have catalog numbers.
AND, his work has been in the Krause Unusual World Coin's catalog for quite a while too. I have the 5th Edition of that book, published in 2007. and both Ron and Dan's work is listed.
The pieces of Dan's that are covered (with photographs in many cases) are:
o Parody Quarters
o Alternate / Prototype Quarters
o Bessie Coleman Prototype Dollars
o Sacagewea Prototype Dollars
o Presidential Dollars (both eagle and SOL reverses)
o The 2009 Astronaut Bimetallic "Two Rollers" Prototype Dollar
o The 2007 Seated Liberty 20 Trade Dollars

How did the 1964-D Peace Dollars get slabbed at PCGS (I remember seeing those in Zoins post a while back)? Did they show up in the 6th edition along with others maybe?
The PCGS website for Tokens and Medals says that items listed in the United States section of “Unusual World Coins, 6th Edition” by Krause Publications are eligible for submission. Once I was able to secure a copy, I emailed PCGS to confirm the coins would be accepted. Later, when I submitted my coins, I attached a photocopy from the book, printed email from PCGS, and a cover letter with some additional information.

That would be a good assumption. I only have the 5th Edition and didn't see any of his fantasy date overstrikes listed.
Either that or I need new glasses . . . . .
BTW: There seems to be an overabundance of the NorFed strikes in that book. The editors must have been enamored with that series.
BTW2: Those INA Pattern Dollars that are being sold really cheaply on fleaBay are also all listed.

Regarding communications, Dan has been under the weather with Covid and is resting / recovering now, which is why shipments have started again. I've been in touch with him and only recently discussed posting on the forums. It happened after our visit and I've tested negative. Please be patient and let's all wish Dan good luck for a speedy recovery!
Thanks for that update. He needs to rest and recover. Shipments can wait.
Amazingly, I just received a shipped notice on various canceled die strike items ordered on day one of availability*. Wow! Above and beyond the call, IMO.

1884cc Two ounce silver goodie & a 84cc overstrike on 1884 host joining the Carr Archive today.
It will be 8 or 9 or 10 hours before I have them in hand
Delivery came. Here is the group of 5 (Brass, Copper, Silver, Morgan, Antiqued) 1884-S canceled die restrikes. AMAZING in hand. Pop numbers on these are crazy low. Sorry, I didn't take them out of the plastic. I will at some point.
Here is the group of 3 (1884-S, 1884-CC and the 1884-S on an uncleaned Morgan). Only got the obverse on these. The reverses are the same as the photo above.
Here is the 1908-O Liberty DE. This thing is AMAZING!!!!! I could not be happier, @dcarr did a fabulous job on this (and I can't wait to see the 1848-CAL). Also received my first Daniel Carr signed insert. Outstanding work here.

Edited to add……is that the date of the under coin on the insert?
If so, that’s outstanding

Yes, Daniel added the date with his signature. I am so lucky to have this coin. It is my first DC gold. The 1848 CAL will be number 2. I hope to get some of his proof gold at some point (people seem to hoard that).
WOW, pcgscacgold! You were quick on the trigger. I was only able to get the silver among the centennial obv / cancelled S rev ones, and lucky to even grab that one.

Really amazing! Congrats for picking up all these varieties! I really like the way all these came out. They really do look wonderful together. It's not easy using old dies designed for different presses but Dan makes it work. I need to say that Dan really is a huge asset to the collecting community and much thanks to him on these!
The brass one is super rare. My guess is that only 1 was offered for sale. Dan had two and I have two. Dan generally keeps one of each issue so I assume only one has been sold so far.

Thank you for sharing the die and making these possible.
Only 5 of the 1884-S were struck on uncleaned Morgans. Does that mean the same thing as with the Brass centennial piece? Did you keep 2, Dan 1 and maybe only 2 sold of which I have one?

I have a huge fascination with overstriking unclean coins, ever since I picked up the following struck by Dan. The reverse has a really nice mirror finish. Morgan's hair on the Peace Liberty's neck looks nice as well!

I hope more people get DC deliveries this week and we get to see the Vintage Die off-center strikes and the one with obverse one date and reverse the other. I did not get any of those.

All your goodies will arrive. They always do.
The only reason I got mine is I live 150 miles south of Daniel. He uses registered mail which is safest & yet slowest mail service.
I too am looking forward to seeing items I should have bought posted by lucky super limited production owners.
Long ago I learned I cannot own everything I desire, so I pick & choose.
Choose wisely Grasshoppers !

Yours turned out really neat. I love the doubling on her face. Mine did not come out that way.
