<< <i>I added a dollar set to my orders of 5 so it went over $300 for UPS shipping....

Did anyone here order just the 5 and, if so, how were they shipped? Did they upgrade the $297.40 order or send it FedEx "Smart"post? >>

My 5 were sent "Dumb" post. They were delivered to the post office by Fed EX this morning. Now we will see if they get on the truck for
    delivery today or tomorrow.

That would be a first for "SmartPost"......UPS yes, FedEx/USPS "SmartPost" has never required a sig by me

...and thanks for those who answered my shipping question. I will be away for the shipping of the next set and was hoping it would be delivered by FedEX/USPS and be held at the post office....assuming that the HH limit will still be 5. If it is reduced then this is not an issue.

Now if I can only get an answer about my medal grading question....image

They're unemployed/retired and have the mint page up 24/7...hitting refresh every 10 minutes...image

Or maybe they're running "the program" which checks for changes on webpages which trigger alerts...

Make that $265 with 7 hours to go. Probably banking on 69 being top grade...which I doubt

This dude has had 5 coins for sale....Four 69's and one 68.....no other s are graded and up for sale

...and...he is including the silver medal and OGP

I would like to see one sell on its own to get a grasp of prices

  • BigABigA Posts: 2,715 ✭✭✭✭
Any guidance from PCGS on submitting these?

Ugh. This is what I get for making fun of SmartPost.

Imagine if you will, coming home and being greeted with this...

    image

Amazingly, only three sets were damaged, two are still in great shape. However the messed up sets are messed up.

    image

So what to do? I could return the three sets, but I'd get a refund, not replacements. I was planning on keeping two sets intact, and deciding what to do with the other three later. Don't want to sell damaged sets. So the best option might be to keep my two sets and get the other three certified. So upon inspecting the coins...

    image

See that lint? Not only the big honkin' piece below "TRUMAN", but the one's on his forehead and bridge of the nose... It's NOT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAPSULE. It's one of the one's I'm going to send in for certification. I want an attribution of "Hairiest Truman". (Get it? Huh? Huh?)

Of the five RP Trumans, none scream "Grade Me!". Maybe one has a shot. The medals look okay, but one already has a big spot on it.

Crap. Big fail on both the Mint and FedEx or USPS. At least I have a 5-coin coupon from ATS, so it'll be a cheap submission...

MCM had 143 + sets in OGP for sale. Are they less than 69's? Did they look too bad to even take a chance on
getting a 69? Did they just decide to quickly unload in OGP? Stay tooned for the further adventures of "Flipper"

I would not buy one of them sets. Has to be a reason they are not off to a TPG.

And the PF 69 goes for $320 which reminds me of the first PF70 Washington Dollars going for $700 and more. Even these 69s are not guaranteed against spotting by the TPGs.

I arrived home and found my single order 5-household limit Truman C&C sets not in one box but 5 separate boxes(?) I want to have them graded, instead of sending 5 unopened boxes, IIRC, I can send in the 5 Truman dollars in flips for the First Strike designation provided they get there before the cutoff date which is July 31, correct? Thx in advance.

So, can these be sent in with just the coins or do we need to submit the sealed boxes?
  • KudbegudKudbegud Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭✭✭

<< <i>So, can these be sent in with just the coins or do we need to submit the sealed boxes? >>

Go to the First Strike page LINK

Look at the Silver Eagle Set 2 coins below the Truman set

    or

3 coins below Truman at the Silver Proof Set

    Both show:
" ** Set must arrive in sealed mint packaging to qualify for First Strike Designation."

The Truman Set does not have this special instruction ....so ....you only need to send the coins if you beat the cutoff date, the sealed Mint shipping box if after the cut off.

    or

You can call PCGS Customer Service and confirm any requirements. 800-447-8848

Any guesses what a 70 would bring?

  • << <i>Any guesses what a 70 would bring? >>

My guess is over $1,000.00 for starters, then when there is so little of the 70's out there it could grow closer to $5,000.00.

WOW, just saw that listing. Not sure if we will be seeing too many sets of 70's. I opened a box and saw that a 70 will be a tough grade to get. Of course that is just from the one box of 5.
