Is it the high-relief angle, a must-have for collectors of modern gold mint products, the depiction of Liberty as a non-Caucasian or multi-racial female, investment potential, aesthetically pleasing? >>
I don't like the obverse, I like the reverse and its higher relief than I anticipated. I also like the unique denomination for a gold coin. I really don't even want it that much. However, I feel that my moderns collection would have a real gap w/o this coin. I ordered several on the possibility that it could be a good investment to sell later to finance coins which I really want. Should this possibility look unlikely I'll keep only one. I thought that it was a very cool idea when first introduced. I assumed that the reason was to produce an artistically magnificent high relief coin. Sadly, it seems that to the obverse was chosen primarily to be PC over some really artistically amazing designs. This is such a bummer. This could have been a truly magnificent coin. >>
The 2015 issue may not be the last. There's the possibility that the mint uses these other designs in future releases.
But for me, that's the problem...Other countries are releasing UHR/HR coins regularly now.
"Will this coin stand out down the road as something special or not?", is the question I find myself asking myself.
I'm ambivalent, which for me is not compelling enough a position to buy one.
The BST already has sellers tripping over themselves to see who can sell at the lowest point now. Wanna-be dealers who bought in large volume and know their CC bills will be coming in sooner than later.
Started off seeing prices immediately after the coins went on sale. Saw $1600+. Now seeing $1550 as the low. Obviously, still cheaper buying from the mint, for those that want one and when available, but it is interesting to watch. Some still have them for $1800/coin. Methinks those will stay for awhile.
Now, as to whether or not these will do well in the long run, I have no clue. Just interesting watching the usual quick flippers and how they are undercutting everyone to get their $50+/coin and get out (volume does add up) versus the smaller "buy a few to resell and help pay for the one I want to keep" folks, who would obviously like to sell for $200+/coin.
No dog in this fight at the moment so I just watch with amusement.
My order of one should arrive today. The mint shipped my other two that showed a back order date of Oct 1. Looks like all of them are FS eligible. I was just testing the waters on the second order of two coins. Now I need to decide whether to send them in for grading, sell sealed or ship back as I really only wanted one coin.
Thoughts??

So, it's the folks that are largely only around the forums in the BST for "hot" flappable issues, and in the threads about those issues, and buying in large volume. Get in big, flip quickly for any kind of profit as, if done in volume, there is still money to be made, and get out to pay the CC bill when it arrives and wait for people to point out the next flappable mint item.
While I can't speak for others, I sold almost all of mine (well over a thousand coins) for quite a nice premium to the purchase price.
And while I do have a some left, the buyers I am talking to seem to be showing decent demand.

Most of what you see on BST and eBay does not reflect the real supply/demand dynamics. I just wanted to provide my insights into the marketplace right now. I'm pretty sure that was what we were talking about.

Sadly, yes. Used to be forum was used for collecting, information dissemination, sharing, etc....with the occasional discussion of hot flips. Once these got more noticed (~2006 annv SAE sets), some folks ONLY come here to brag about their (way) exceeding mint purchase limits and how to get more ... and sell on the BST for no fees. Here are my iPhone pics of the ALHRGC. I must say, each time you image Lady Liberty, her expression seems to change. Also, I can see some of these coins getting a PL designation. My very average pics don't really capture this, but the coin in hand is quite interesting and exhibits a proof like look on certain angles. Phil Arnold will have a tough time capturing this one....not as tough as the 2009 UHR of course.

Maybe the photos but don't look reflective enough to me for pl especially since I figure the grading companies are going to require a solid example before they give out the designation. Now if I could tell your camera f-stop setting by looking in the coin they you would have something.

They are on "back order" since they ran out of existing stock and have to make some more at the West Point Mint. Expected delivery is 1 October. This is assuming they haven't already reached the authorized limit of 50,000 in which case they will take your order and put you on a waiting list since there is always returns, cancelled orders, and bad credit card numbers. If you want one I wouldn't wait to order.

1490 x 41,930 hmmm $62 Mil plus not bad for a coin that trades about $350 dollars an oz more than a Gold Eagle.... or should we say $15 Mil profit to the Mint.... think its a winner for someone.... as soon as it hits 50k and sells out...more people will want in so it goes....
If that is so, why sell them at only $50 over issue price at this point?
