Our host's price guide seems pretty cheap for the '05-O quarter in 58 at $500. Nice color and eye appeal Vern.
Mine, purchased in 2011, is a CAC'd VF25. Low volume of CAC's. This is one of those coins that struggles to digitally image well vs. looking nice in hand... photo courtesy of Heritage:

I purchased this '05 O Quarter raw several years ago and sent it in to PCGS for grading:
Anyone care to guess how it came back?
It is a delicate balance between the softness of a New Orleans mint and wear. I would guess AU55. Wear on cheek and below the headband from what I can see. What do you think the surface preservation is? doesn't look impaired at all to me. Reverse looks really good. I am curious, why you held on to the coin so long without submitting it? '05-O is a scarce date relatively speaking. Nice coin Jeff.
A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.
You all were on the right track. Look at the wire rim left on the OBV at 12:00- not much wear on this coin. My guess it's a 53 because of the weak strike, not wear. This coin was graded about 3 years ago when I purchased it.

Pretty confident it would green bean sticker if you did that sort of thing. I know you detest the bean so disregard the comment. - T

The sad day has arrived as I have retired the Barber Quarter Labelman87 sets. The BCCS and its publication will be my "hold" on the series as well as the PCGS boards. I hope to see a few "old friends" here from time to time.
@barberkeys - Nice '86 O. Here's an '05 S just received today to upgrade my Dansco set. I'm very pleased with the look; in reality it's even better than the pics. I got it from Dan Young.
Hi, I'm new here and just wanted to share a pic of my ONLY graded Barber half. Most of my collection is Morgans. I found this at a pawn shop mixed in with a collection that was way over priced. I spotted this lustrous gem and made an offer, which he accepted. My thought was that this was at least AU. Much to my surprise, it got MS63+ (POP 1), when I submitted it.
@Bullet01 I like the half; however, I am curious about the horizontal toning effects on the obverse. I'm sure with all the experienced collectors here someone will have some interesting and welcome input.
Recently found (today) and out of a late 1950's Whitman holder. Knowing the previous source, it has not seen the light of day for quite some time. Pretty cool.

@JeffMTampa Jeff, I think I better sit back and savor this moment after where you actually stated you wished for a Barber quarter and not a half! Wow... thanks for the kudos

I'm torn between 53 + 55 on your 05-O Jeff. Nice Coin!
@JeffMTampa That 05 O looks to me to be the nicest AU55 that can possibly be.

Looks like a solid 55 to me. I like it better than some 58's I've seen.

@cheezbean - Nice job on cherrypicking a beautiful half
Vern - A lot of fresh sparkle to that tougher date San Fran '92.
Wouldn't be surprised of it being so fast due to having one purchaser with a large wallet.

LOL! Now that's a username I could agree with a lot of the time! Nice Quarter!
Milo, Thanks for the compliment. I hope you were able to add a few to your collection. They would be in a "good" place.
