Nice get Vern on the 1907-O BQ. I wish I could find something that I like. The market is slow and dry IMO.

    Best wishes to all.

Believe it or not 01-S is right there with it and the POP's are lower in Au/MS It is currently the key to the everyman set with an AU58 POP of 5!

Craig - I agree that the market for nice AU barber quarters is as you say, and has been the past couple of years. Any idea why? I'm certain there is demand.

Those are a couple really nice looking '07 O quarters! I am awaiting arrival of one of the same date and mint but this one made a few more trips around the block. Still I like the look so I will share and...

    I value your opinions.

Market: Didn't seem that way (slow) at all from the Chicago WFoM viewpoint last week. A lot of people. My local dealer thought so too. It has been down but the pace of the show had a "turn the corner" vibe to it. We shall see in time.

Was at the Chicago Rosemont ANA show on the 14th... Detroit afterwards... so now back home.

NEWP... VF/XF '14-D estimated until I get it out of its 2x2 and examine...

Also purchased an '01-P in PC30 I'll have to bring out later. I also brought to the show an 18yr old YN who I got signed up with BCCS. Mentoring the future of the hobby is critical to me.

Here is the 1901-P half dollar in PC30. Ex-Glen Holsonbake of Americana Rare Coin. Fellow BCCS member. He said he didn't make the 9am meeting (14th) because he was so busy at the WFoM show.

I like this sort of halo look.

Darrell - The common date half had the perfect look, and a provenance.

Jon and Tim - Congrats on the ANA newps.

Had a wonderful time at the ANA. Unfortunately I couldn't be there Wednesday when the BCCS meeting was held. Here's one of my newps, PC55:

My two newest, I think they count as Barber? From my understanding he had some hand in design for each although I guess there’s some ambiguity as to how much of the Isabella was his original or based on another design?

You took pics right at the show? brought your camera? I am interested in how you got the lighting right to your order of happiness. It seemed pretty bright in there to me... unless you found some side room location.

I believe the izzy quarter is one of the best designs out there for the commems... other than maybe the hippocampus reverse for the Pan Pac $2.5... aside from the Barbers of course. The izzy is attributed to C. Barber but is said to stem from a Morgan sketch. The kneeling lady on your PC62 has a beautiful halo-rimmed tone @SiriusBlack !

    Here's my 1894 O Quarter, PC 55 as well:

Mine has the MM centered; Vern's has the far right version. I still think PCGS should recognize these as Varieties.

    I love them Barber Halves.....

    To all my Barber friends:
After many, many years of Barber Quarter collecting, for me, it's time to retire from this area of collecting. Much of my BQ appetite was lost when my friend Mike Hayes moved on to a better place. I will not abandon the Barber blogs but my collection of 101 coins has been consigned to Gerry Fortin (@www.seateddimevarieties.com). My other collection activities will continue to keep me busy.

I appreciate the years of information and knowledge that everyone has shared and I look forward to others enjoying some of the treasures of which I was caretaker for many years.

    Thanks,
    Craig

(other collection activities)... Are you sticking with Barber Halves though Craig? It sounds like you are not getting out all together but I was wondering if you will still pursue other Barber areas beyond quarters? (confirming!).

Our host's price guide seems pretty cheap for the '05-O quarter in 58 at $500. Nice color and eye appeal Vern.

Mine, purchased in 2011, is a CAC'd VF25. Low volume of CAC's. This is one of those coins that struggles to digitally image well vs. looking nice in hand... photo courtesy of Heritage:

I'm skipping out of school today to bring awareness to global warming (no not really, but I think I would have back in the 70's- I didn't need much of an excuse to skip school back then.) Here's what I think is a cool upgrade to my Dansco set:
