I received the silver Kennedy set yesterday, and the coins are quite beautiful. The enhanced uncirculated is quite astonishing. Though I haven't bought the gold yet, as I think I can get it for less, ultimately, I'll come around to purchase at least one.

For all the complaints, the mint is putting out some beautiful products this year.
    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!

Has the sale of the silver set sparked any renewed interest in the gold coin ?

My mom passed away on Oct. 1. Have been dealing with that as I am the executor.

Sold the house and have been busy going thru 50 years of accumulated possessions as that is how

long she lived in that house. It has put a damper on my collecting and I passed on the silver Kennedy Set.

I am thinking about ordering one set to keep raw but can't seem to pull the trigger for some reason.

    RIP Mom & Dadimage

A PCGS 69 Gold Kennedy sells for $970.00 on the ebay Saturday .... PCGS 1st Strikes selling for 1,250.00 on the bay.. still going lower

The joke is on the ANA bus sitters, as their gold Kennedys inventory keeps going on down .. poetic justice

Yet these bus sitters dealers are still holding their gold kennedys .. which means prices still lowerimage

Sorry to hear about your mom

Gold is showing no effect from plunging metals prices nor the silver set.

The clad is still oh household limit, is back ordered and just came off out of stock

There's like 180k pre-made and the new people shipped some orders the first day. 12 hours of sales were about 85k and sales are well over 100k now

I ordered at 12:08 and had mine Thursday.

They are above silver proof set quality but still not perfect. The most common complaint is "striping" on the enhanced uncirculated bust. This effect is the same as what can be found on silver and regular proof sets.

If you want a for sure first strike set to submit now, raw are going for $125-$135 on ebay.

HOW TO FIX CURRENT PAGE OF POSTS NOT SHOWING :

CLICK ON CUSTOMIZE, THEN CHANGE THE NUMBER OF MESSAGES LISTED IN A THREAD TO ( 100 )

THEN ALL CURRENT WILL SHOW AND YOU WILL HAVE FAR LESS PAGES TO LOOK THRU IN LONG THREADS.

FOR THIS THREAD ONLY 20 PAGES COMPARED TO 98 PAGES

I passed on the Kennedy Gold and will pass on the silver set also. I like to collect perfect things.

Meaning no lines, chips, streaks or other ugly distracting blemishes, and especially no Milk Spots.

I will wait until the mint improves production before I will make another purchase.

No hate but I do find the silvers to be ordinary. After all the hassle in ordering, waiting on dam UPS to no show, and then getting them... that was enough disappointment that I am done.

This Gold Kennedy is tacky. Screw it forever. The only gold Kennedy I'll ever buy is some of those gold foil wrapped
chocolate ones that sell in a bag of 10 or so.

This US Mint trend to put out everything from the past, in Gold, really is tacky IMHO.

You'll not see me wasting my money on any of that BS.

Using the mints poor quality control and variations in coins produced as an excuse for a rare or different variation grade is

just another BS excuse to try and gouge the collecting public for more $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Maby we need a sniffer to detect the "trickle down effect from the TPG's and other greedy dealers."

the thread is officially off 1 full page now.

for those on the standard 20 posts/page, you'll always need to add 1 to the page to get to the most current posts.

those doing the 100/page thing won't always need to add 1, but there will be times the page numbers are off.

Maybe, but I also think the Mint's markup on some of the "collectibles" is excessive.
Yes, they have employees to pay, health insurance costs, buildings, etc, but I still think they are excessive and could be done at a lower cost and still cover what they need to cover.....if they were smarter in how they did things.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Every post I read in this thread reminds me that not buying this coin was the correct decision.

Everything about this coin has put a damper on my enthusiasm for collecting modern coins.

I will eventually get over it, however I will buy less and pay less in the future.

11/16/2014...2014 KENNEDY ANNIVERSARY SILVER SET...144,572... That's +6770 over the previous week.

Sales are still surprising stong, considering the sales of other numis items. (Proof Buff gold, proof SAE's, etc.) There might be a pick up (or at least a less strong decline) after Black Friday for Christmas.

The discussion about damaged or blemished coins in 70 slabs comes up in almost every thread about recent modern issues.
I will put it plain and simple for those of you who beat around the bush about the subject. There are many coins put in 70 slabs
that are clearly scratched, blemished or otherwise damaged just to meet quotas and for the $$$$$$$$$. These damaged coins are
then shipped to the buying public who expect to get a nice coin with no scratches, lines, brush marks, ect. for the high prices they have to pay.
While the sellers have dozens of excuses why a 70 does not mean a perfect coin they will find their sales falling off if they continue to ship damaged coins.
It is true that if you throw enough $$$it against the wall it will stick, eventually it will start to fall off.

Success or failure will most likely depend on which way gold bullion prices are headed at the time of release.

Or if the mint would set a mintage limit of 5,000 or less, then:image
