Ordered first day between 2:22 and 3:03PM.
    Amazing, working on Easter sunday!

My first nine orders were well before 2PM and I only have one order being shipped right now. That could change tomorrow hopefully.

All my first 9 orders were in the 1:11 to 1:35 range ans include both silver and gold. The only one being shipped is for 7 silver proofs and it was at 1:11 PM. All the others are only in process with the cancel box.

cheezhed has it right. If you remember back to previous orders the notice of shipping from the mint only signifies the preparing of the shipping documents and transmission to PBGS. Check the tracking number, it will come back with "check again later" or similar wording. PBGS will download the documents Monday morning and will print the packing list, start picking and filling boxes. They could leave the facility Monday via the various shipping vendors trucks but for sure Tuesday. This is the pattern of all my previous orders. Nothing goes out Sunday. Nothing has ever been on the truck (which can then be followed with the tracking number) on the first day of notice.

But if you got notice then your stuff is actually on the way. Keep checking the tracking number and report when you see it's active.

Here's a good one....UPS 2nd day air scheduled delivery on Friday 4/18 "by end of day" (2 Mint shipments)....stayed home all day...never came. Checked tracking and it was postponed due to "holiday"????? Good Friday is NOT a UPS holiday.

Rescheduled for "next business day"....today I checked at 10a and they aren't coming today either....nice

<< <i>Is the deadline for 1st. strike May 6th. or 8th. I thought I read NGC is May 8th. here somewhere??
Also, for the deadline do they have to have the coin in their hand by May 6th. or 8th. or does it mean it has to be post marked by then?
Also do you have to send the unopened box to get a special label?

Sorry if this has already been talked about, there are so many pages to look through and I just gave up looking.
Never sent anything to be graded before..

    Thank You... >>

The deadline for FS, opened mint box, coins inspected, = shipped and postmarked to PCGS by May 6th.

Sealed un-opened original mint shipping boxes post marked no later the May 6th can be sent to PCGS un-opened whenever and still receive FS designation. PCGS just has to know that the coins shipped from the mint by the cut off date, May 6th in this case. Keeping the box sealed verifies this.

What the other guys (NGC etc) do I don't know or care >>

OK thank you for the information I do appreciate it.....

Since neither: UPS, FEDEX or USPS work on Sundays except for "Express Mail" shipments, I would almost be certain that a shipping label was created, but chances are slim to none that they were actually mailed out on Sunday...click on the Tracking #.. My guess, it will be picked up on Monday. >>

I'm sure a shipping label was generated and actual shipping takes place Monday. >>

I had one silver order shipped Friday 18th. and another Sat. both Fedex Smart post, when you click on the tracking number is says not found.
I called Fedex this morning and they said due to the holiday/holidays they may not be in the system for another 24 hours...

Mint rep just told me that there will be no gold shipped until July 7th at the earliest.

They also said they are running out of silver that have already been minted but are still taking orders for the wait list.

I guess they know they are going to get lots of cancellations.

    What a bunch of clowns.

You had better do it soon as the prices will surely rise after the 6th when no coins are coming from the mint.

I have talked to several of the mints reps since Friday and am getting the same basic message.

They just don't have that many coins made as of yet and are not sure when they will be available.

It does not look good for 1st strikes i know that.

I received the clad halves from my 2:04 p.m. order of March 27 two weeks ago. According to the Mint's website, my dollars are being shipped today. I didn't order any gold; 50,000 seems like a lot for a gold commem, even one with a unique shape. I have to wonder what will happen to their price after all the flippers have sold their supplies, when only 5,000-10,000 examples of most gold commems are sold. It would take a lot a diehard baseball fans to shell out the money for gold. I don't think their enthusiasm for the sport is that strong. If they want a baseball coin, a clad half would suffice.

Well, after telling me mid June this morning, part of my order is reserved and getting ready to ship. CC is pending with cancel boxes gone.

Now here's the kicker, only 4 of 50 will ship soon, the other 46 are on BO until 6-1.

    My guess...............returns....image

Relax, it's not returns. The mint just completely blew it on estimated demand and were incredible ill-prepared for this issue. It's going to take them a while to crank these out. I've got a similar order - half is ready to ship and the other half...whenever...

Or maybe the Mint grew a pair and is retroactively decreasing the household ordering limits??? Did anyone else get their order of 50 coins shipped yet??? We all know that no collector needed 50 of these!

Did I do something wrong? >>

Not at all... I apologize if my comment seemed directed to you personally. I have just read posts from many others complaining that the household order limit should have never been 50 from the start and that many collectors were shut out from buying these at Mint prices. I have read that many of them have also been complaining to the Mint and urging them to do something about it. I was just wondering if maybe the Mint stepped up and is actually doing something to help the collector. I would be surprised if that were the case, but you never know... it does seem strange that they would only send you 4 of your 50 coins... unless those 4 coins are the last 4 coins in inventory???

That said, if the Mint allowed you to order 50 and you have the means to do so, nothing wrong with that at all!
  • Some of you are forgetting that 24 hours before these went on sale the plan was to offer them with no household limits whatsoever. That might have resulted in a 15 minute sellout with the gold coins concentrated in very few hands.

The mint DID do something by limiting households to 50 coins.

  • KudbegudKudbegud Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭✭✭
What about my idea to limit first day orders to 2? Then raise the limit on some succeeding day to 5 or 10 or 20? It woud sure even out the opportunity to more people. Dealers and others will hate this.

And the Mint also had posted on the ordering page that they reserved the right to adjust or remove the household order limit if they deemed necessary... presumably this would include retroactively adjusting the limit.

If they had a limit of 5 coins per order some folks would get their family members and friends to order. The 2011 ASE sets are a great example...image

Of course that happens... even with a limit of 2 or 5 or 50... but the lower the limit is the better chance the average collector has to get their coin(s). With a limit of 50, the home shopping networks and large modern dealers just had to get their networks of employees/friends to order and they could have all they wanted. With a limit of 5, the 2011 ASE sets were also ordered by the big guys using their networks of buyers, but it wasn't as easy and a good number of sets ended up in the hands of collectors. If the limit were 1 or 2 sets, even more sets would have made it to the collectors at the Mint prices.

With this HOF commemorative program, one of the main goals stated by the Mint was to bring new collectors to the hobby. That may happen, but it would be better for the hobby if some of those new collectors could get in at the Mint prices vs. paying huge premiums in the secondary market.

Edited to add that some of the recent mint releases that end up selling out fast, with large quantities of coins ending up with a small number of large-scale dealers who then make quick and substantial profits, is similar to some of the stories of the classic commemoratives of the 1930s... the result of that of course was collectors getting upset and turned-off to collecting and the termination of the programs by Congress.

Some will always figure a way around the rules. Doesn't make them particularly evil, just trying to get an edge. My idea would limit this activity as it would be known that the limits would be increasing after a designated time and they could get all they want. As well as allowing collectors to order after they get home from work and not face a sold out or waiting list situation.

  • BullsitterBullsitter Posts: 5,617 ✭✭✭✭✭
I say 1 coin or coin set per address....end of discussion.

New raw numbers from the mint:

    << <i>B31 2014 BASEBALL HOF GOLD PROOF 39,140
    B32 2014 BASEBALL HOF GOLD UNC 21,964

So there are about 35.5K on the waiting list for the Ag, probably more since these numbers are through Sunday. Silver was still on sale this morning.

The numbers for the gold varied slightly from last week as well. 47 less proofs, but 47 more unc, so a wash overall. image

Why? It's called generating a buzz.... I seriously doubt if the gold coins hadn't sold out, the silver would not have sold out, much less the clad. Usually, if you are in BUSINESS to sell coins, you want stuff to sell out and sell out quickly. It's not the United States Collectors store. It's the US Mint. They can do whatever their business model says will make the most $, I haven't seen any legislation ever signed into law that said there should be order limits. Thank the Mint they self imposed any limit or go blame your congressman.

Real collectors who "really" wanted any of these coins stuck it out and dealt with the "pain and hassle" to get one. Anyone that did not did so under their own power. My mom was able to order a gold coin from an iPad, while playing bridge, with a bad Internet connection.................

One order of 3 silver proof and 3 MS Silver shipped Monday. Keeping sealed for First Strike and see what happens in a year. Won't waste grading fees on these. My gold probably won't make First Strike. Only graded coin I have is a PCGS First Strike MS 70 First Pitch Baltimore Clad Coin I bough for $400. Probably reached its price saturation point and probably come down another $200. Right now about 206 in that label. Probably will be about 500 or more 70s in the regular label. Definitely not rare.

I am done with these. No interest in buying any graded 70s on the market anymore. The $1200-$1300 for the gold 70s is way overpriced and hyped up. I do believe the gold will hold its value at around $700 raw though. Have about 8 single orders of 1 MS Silver/PF Silver each. Also will hold these. Only hope for these is if they become popular like the 2001 Buffalos. Lets hope the baseball card collectors will help, but doubt it. I think they are a dying off.
