<< <i>Based on silver right now (Thursday morning), I'm going to predict a price of $259.99 for the anniversary set. >>

    Sounds reasonable.

However, I'd be totally surprised if the set went for less than $300.

<< <i>Yes. I believe Silver will be up by the time the set goes on sale. Probably be at $40 again. Up $5 dollars from its lows to $32 already. >>

Doesn't mean it will hit $40 by then. Just means it is finding support around $30-$32, but it still heads south of there as well.

So, I got the email this morning from PCGS regarding their quarterly grading special:

    "4th Quarter 2011: October 1 &#150; December 31, 2011

Modern Submission Special: Submit five (5) coins and pay for only four (4)"

So, do you think this will apply to one set of the 25th Anniversary ASEs?
  • pf70collectorpf70collector Posts: 6,636 ✭✭✭
Could be. About $200 to grade all five with shipping to an from with First Strike Labeling. With this special about $165.00.

Hope you're right on the price.

Sure would be nice to get them at $33 each like the 20th ann sets.

I'll guess, based on todays silver spot price: $279-$300 range per set...add on approx $200 grading fees per set..( First Strike) includes s&h both way.

I am guessing they will in the middle to high 300 range. Don't forget, they will come in a fancy wood box (I would think).
  • Coins101Coins101 Posts: 2,602 ✭✭✭
So, if they drop the order limit to 1 per household, do you think this will have any effect on the set?

We could very well have a perfect storm brewing: Pent up demand due to silver pulled for repricing, rarity, holiday gift giving. All that's needed would be the "one per HH" rule. image

    easily over $300 a set

it wouldn't suprise me to see high 300's

yes box, and labor to assemble the coins from three separate mints this time!

that "S" is going to be special unless it becomes an every-year deal.

i'd be inclined to just pull the "S" for grading, maybe the RP, only because they should qualify on their own merit for the "Anniversary" label and FS if submitted w/i time frame?

Agreed on the pricing, in my limited time collecting the Mint never seems to adjust the price down very much and if the 2010 ATB P pricing is any indication this set will be around 4 hundred.

That could be about right with the repricing on silver.

I just think anyone thinking it will be in the low threes is about to have a rude awakening.

    Oh man make it $359.99.

I have almost nothing to give away but a guess the price giveaway would be fun on this one.

In 2006 Silver was $12 an ounce. The 20th Anniversary Sets were $100. So the set sold for almost 3X the price of Silver. If you take that kind of pricing from the mint in 06 the set could well be around $425-$450. But I guess this time the cost of packaging won't take a large percentage of the final price and the mint will probably sell the set at $359.00.

OK, in the event they (mint personell) read this site, let's lowball them a bit:

OK, I root for 259 also (LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

  • I'm hopeing 25th price to be around $300 range.

I can not find all the pieces of my 50 th set that came back from PCGS.
Novice Question? Is a complete slabbed set important when selling the set?
How best would this set be stored if graded as a set....or would '69's be about the same
    value if,(not graded),in it's sealed carton?
My mail is at the end of USPS limits and deliveries take more time, whitch by the time it gets
sent to PCGS they have stoped using the "70" grades.
It would be nice if one could instruct the US Mint to deliver coins to PCGS in the customers name.

    Regards...Gary

    $ 279.99

    is my guess

    Proof 56.99
    Rev 56.99
    MS W 52.99
    MS S 52.99
    Bullion 40.00

    = 259.96 about about $20.00 for packaging
  • MY guess is that the UNC will be West Point.....Is that likely?

they'll have an un-mint-marked bullion piece, and 2 uncirculated (burnished): 1 from S and one from W

Even $300 would be fine. $260 would great, and I'll still back up the truck at $400.

One point. Their is a common bullion coin in this set, so no reason for a crazy premium for that one. Should help with a lower price.

IMHO, the common bullion coin of this set will command a premium over the "regular" bullion coin for 2011 if it is certified as part of the 25th anniversary set.

I don't think the Treasury boys & girls are nearly as concerned about this set as we would like to think...my biggest concern is the lowering of the household limit.
  • pf70collectorpf70collector Posts: 6,636 ✭✭✭
I don't think they will lower the household limit. I believe it was 10 limit for the 20th Anniversary. If they lower the household limit, my guess is that they will only have made 100K. If they don't lower it, it could be 250K minted.

Last I heard, the HH limit for the anniversary set was going to be 5 with a 100.000 max mintage.

I think those numbers might have been revealed when the set was introduced at a recent convention.

That's correct on the 100K/5 per. The release date was 10/27, but I'm not sure of the source?

has there been any discussion if the S MM will be sold seperately? this year or next? like the W MM?

The source was a poster that "heard it from someone at the Mint".....take that for what it's worth but it does sound like a reasonable sale date...

Given the repricing that just happened on the Sil Prf and W Unc, if Silver spot stays put, I cant see them charging more than $300 per set,

    Maybe even $280.

The 25th Anniversary Set is now listed on the Mint's website for 10/27/11 release.

Apparently it may be a month or so before the Mint begins to ship these once the orders are placed on the 27th.

    Here's the info:

If true, the only way to get these back from grading in time for Christmas will be to use the Express service level.

    Expensive proposition.

If they are anything like the 5 ounce pucks were the "expected shipping date" was a bit in the future and in reality they shipped a week after sale

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see the mint lower the limit to one per household once they see the overwhelming demand for these sets.

I hope they ship timely. I really hate it when they Fedex right during a holiday vacation and you don't know where the package will end up.

I don't know...I think they have a pretty good idea about the demand. I see it as a gift for the Mint's recent ASE collector snubbings.
