From the APs, to HORRIBLE Ebay "buyers" to even the TPGs the pucks have brought out some bad and erratic behavior. I've just never seen anything like this puck sickness before.

Yes, I think that many of us are VERY, VERY used to looking at these large coins. Give me a break!

Excuse me, but how in the heck could you begin to think to make light of or degrade someone who won the lottery, and decided that the grading company was wrong and choose to turn back in the lottery. To me this is the sign of the utmost respectable dealer as I have ever seen. On par with a Rick Snow, I can not give more praise to them for to have acknowledged that the unique MS70 was not in fact such a coin. Gimme a break, that is the dealer I want to buy from, and I sell ATB coins.
I actually like that seller, have bought from them before and will do so again.
I also said that they get some points for pulling it.
Like the others who commented before me, one has to question whether it was pulled in response to all of the comments on this forum without which would they have pulled it??
Either way, as I said, they do get some points for pulling it - more than most would do to be sure.
One also has to ask, how could this coin have passed multi-level review at the TPG when it was so obvious to us that it was not a 70?
From all the "new" PCGS grades that I've seen so far (and I've seen many) - almost EVERY SINGLE one has been PL or DMPL except for about 50% of the Grand Canyons. My predictions based on this... 1 - The old (plain) 69's will (continue) to fall in price. - I just saw a bunch of singles sell $500-$600 on ebay. 2 - The 69PL's will become the new normal - standard set. 3 - The 69DMPL's will be the set to get (although I've seen tons of PL's and 68DMPL's - not as many 69DMPL's.) AND ONE KEY PREDICTION ---- 4 - The Grand Canyon 69PL - and even more so the Grand Canyon 69DMPL - will be the single most valuable coins. (most of them are really hazy, and wont get the PL, DMPL designation. >>
The first forum member to post these was very fortunate to get a full DMPL set from five A MARKS indeed. >>
Exactly. And how was it possible for this coin to have made it through the grading process and out the door? After all, this wasn't just "another coin". This was the first 70. And why was the seller singing its praises one day & pulling it the next? Just another chapter in this sordid saga.
"The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary."
And what if this coin had landed in the hands of someone else that didn't care (didn't have their business integrity on the line) and refused to send it back to NGC?

If I remember correctly the A-Mark box fits in a medium flat rate box. It can be sent Priority registered if you want, or you could probably send it express just by putting the sticker over the existing label.

It happens for two reasons. Known mechanical error and enough talk in the business that something was not graded properly. You must understand that both services have multiple finalizers or top graders if you will. If a coin is approved by one of them it does not mean the others saw it before it got out.

Thanks, John, for your insight. If this coin had fallen into the hands of someone with less care about business integrity, I can imagine that they might refuse to send it back for a regrade. Could a TPG essentially "de-legitimize" a coin that they've graded...ie, remove it from their registry, etc?

As long as the mint has not issued a new "ruling" allowing the AP's to vary the price with the market (spot) silver price, it is a done deal, and a "no brainer".
Anyone who buys silver at or near spot on a dollar-cost-average schedule (or something like it) would have to buy these.
Never mind the obvious flip potential.
Lastly, one never knows how hard the next round will be, and you want to get a business relationship with as many of these AP's as you can so that it goes more smoothly the next round. You just never know if you will be near a phone during the next "2 minutes to order by phone."

Just got my fidelitrades in also by far the best all around coins so far should all go PL 3/4 will go DMPL,3 out of 10 will go 67 0r lower though. Still glad to have them. Also way to go Scotsman for your honesty.
Very nice! My Yosimite looks to be about a 69 DMPL, Hotsprings looks about a 69 DMPL, my Grand Canyon I'd grade about a 69 PL, MT Hood a 69, and Yellowstone a 68 only because it has a noticable but very small scratch on the reverse.
All in all good grp from MTB. Although.... I did lightly blow breath mist on some and noticed a finger print on one coin. LoL. I wonder who at MTB touched it! haha

MTB has been taking orders here and there. I think you just gotta catch someone in a good mood who isn't busy. But for the time being, they've suspended sales until they get some questions answered from the US Mint on if they can up prices due to the spot value of silver continueing to increase.

I think the reason why Coins N THings are finally selling their ATB sets is because of the rising spot price of silver. If the US mint doesn't allow the AP's to sell their bullion coins at a higher price due to increasing spot prices, CnT will end up LOOSING money by holding onto coins that are worth far more in melt value then they are allowed to sell at. The longer they hold onto the coins that are tieing up their funds, the more money they'd be loosing by being unable reallocating those funds into something that can make them money.
But IMO, I don't think the US Mint should allow the AP's to adjust for higher prices. The AP's should have sold off their bullion months ago, not to mention they'd still be selling it at the 10% mark up Even if the price of silver plummeted. Why should they be allowed to increase prices if they would never adjust the opposite way if silver crashed?
Under the mint guidelines the AP's will never "lose money" they will only lose potential profit, and that is only due to some of them not being motivated enough to sell them quicker.

I sure would like another set but I could not even get through for A-Mark on-line...though I did get lucky and get into the first round of the additioanl 250 sets. >>
