2008 Donruss Elite football box purchased from my local card shop for $99.95. The Jim Kelly Throwback Threads has Trent Edwards jersey on the reverse and is numbered 08/50.

Gonna take a break for a bit but still have 5 or 6 modern boxes left to open.

Wait a minute, back up the truck.

Is that a Sayers/Tomlinson dual auto on the previous page????

That looks like a stunning card. Congrats.

Really tough break on that 75 box...not one Brett, Yount, Carter or Rice? Sounds like those packs were picked through.

A box of 2008 Leaf Stars & Rookies football purchased from a Maryland card shop for 67.95. The Choice rookie isn't bad however the Keith Rivers patch is dumb, why have an all white patch that big especially for a card numbered 5/25. When I first pulled it I figured Keith forgot to sign it.

Actually the Matt Ryan is a good RC at least and Bennett could have more value as Cutler finds out who his favorite WRs' are. Not alot of money there but I have seen worse Chrome boxes.

Robb, I'm down to needing only (7) 2008 Goudey SP's, if you would like to sell any that I need, I'm eager to buy. If you have any needs for that set I have many dupes.

Fergie....dont bust the 1987 fleer. That thing has gone over 20 years defeating the temptation of all whose hands its been in. Rather than breaking such a rarity only to come out with a couple hundred bucks wholesale worth of cards, wouldnt there be a little more dignity involved by keeping it intact? Much like the preservation of our national parks system, that box (and others with a similar importance) need to be taken care of for future generations of collectors. Is it really worth destroying such a pristine and beautiful item only to end up with some off centered cards that can be bought any day of the week on ebay? A sealed box of 1987-88 Fleer basketball is a rare and valuable entity. 3 hand coallated sets of the same are a common and cheap result!

Dont do it.....for the love of the hobby.

Box of 2008 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia football purchased from Maryland card shop for $107. Box had like 4 packs. The signed jersey rookie is numbered 1/25.

Done with the modern football rip. Pretty much a bust, didn't really pull any of the key rookies from 2008. Thinking about busting my 1986 OPC hockey box.

<< <i>One box of 1985/86 OPC hockey purchased on eBay from BBCE for $1300.00. Very fun box to open but got nervous when after 40 packs still hadn't pulled a Lemieux. Fortunately the last couple of packs were good to me. The first 20 packs or so had very clean cut cards, almost no rough cut at all. Rough cuts started showing up later in the box. Quite a few nicely centered, sharp cornered commons. Will do a check through VCP to see if any are worth subbing. Will sub most of the cards scanned, not the Lemieux Scoring Leaders, though I think they are more 8-9 tweeners than solid 9s but worth the gamble.

Next up a box of 2008 Donruss Elite football.

Fun box to open but pricey like most of the early to mid 80s OPC hockey products. The Roy rookies look like 7s. Will sub the one on the left with my 15 card renewal sub. Plenty of minty commons that will eventually make their way to PSA.

One Vanbiesbrouck in the box. Looks like an 8/9 candidate but the top/bottom centering probably makes it an 8.

1979 Topps hockey box purchased from BBCE for $2600. I've opened a bunch of 79 topps hockey packs this year and done pretty well pulling Gretzky rookies. Haven't gotten an elusive PSA 9 yet but we will see how this box goes.

Well box started off well. Pulled the Gretzky in the first pack. Had visions of 2 or 3 Gretkzy rookies, sadly the first was the only Gretzky. Some nice commons but overall a bit of a letdown. Going to head to my local card shop this afternoon and blow some $$ on modern football and maybe a box of Topps Triple Threads to see if I can pull a disputed Pujols auto image The Gretzky will probably get a 7 due to centering but has very nice corners.

I think I will also open my box of 87 Fleer basketball today as well. Should be fun.

Renewal sub grades popped. Can't complain about the turnaround time (logged on the 9th grades on the 11th). The Roy will be resubbed. Happy with the grades for the Erving and Messier. Rest of the grades were pretty mediocre but then again not the strongest cards I've ever subbed. I guess I should have subbed more 86 Fleers. I have a large sub (50+) of mostly 86 Fleer basketball, 79 Topps hockey, 75 Topps baseball and 87 Fleer basketball commons that I will hopefully send out by the weekend.

I will update the posts where I pulled these cards.

Some sharp Jordan's in that '87 Fleer rip - even the stickers look great - congrats. If you sub the Bird and it gets a 9, I need that (and about 12 others) to complete my set. I would also be interested in buying what you don't send in.

One box of 2009 Topps Heritage High numbers purchased from my local card shop for $69. Not a terrible box and the first black chrome I've ever pulled from Heritage. The Zobrist is 03/60; the Lee is 549/660; the Downs is 039/560. I also pulled 7 Chromes numbered to 1960.
