    Reese,
According to SCN his last success was over a year ago and he has been refusing requests "due to contractual obligations." He will be signing in PA next for $30, that would probably be your best bet. I got him before his HOF induction and he personalized my card.

Not that I've seen. I've had a TTM request with $35 in cash out to him for quite a long time. I'm guessing his health is poor.

For what its worth, I sent out a 1955 TAA to Kazmaier, along with $30, and recently got it back signed after 399 days. So he might just extremely slow nowadays (and it seems that everyone on sportscollectors.net who sent him money eventually had their card signed).

edit- tried to post image, and cannot figure it out. Heres the link if anyone is interested (his signature still seems to be pretty strong)

<< <i>It's been entirely too quite around here! A big "Thank you!" to Greg who pointed this one out to me. Who is going to the National in Chicago this year?

I've been searching many years for this one. It finally showed up on Ebay! It is JSA certified and PSA/DNA quick opinion approved!

    << <i>Greg,

I love the Nomellini! What a great card!!!!

What's new with everyone? I've been out of the loop for a bit. I did manage to pick up some duplicates for my 51 set and made a couple new additions to my 52 Bowman auto set.

    Reese >>

    Reese,

It's been VERY slow w/ the HOF / future HOF rc's but I'm been working on several new projects. I saw that you're selling some of your signed 1952 cards. Are those duplicates or are you selling off you 52 set?

I decided to "refocus" my collection to solely this set, 55 Topps All American set, 1950 and 1951 Bowman sets. I love the 52 set, but I've got too many sets going to keep up and plus I'd like to free up some cash for some new additions I've been negotiating for my 55 Topps set.

The cards I have listed right now would make it really easy for someone working on the set. The Bach, Campanella, Shaw and Phelan are next to impossible to find. I've done the hard part! lol

Anyone interested can check out my store:

    Greg,

Nice additions! The Bowman McAfee is surprisingly difficult to find.

So although not HOFers, I figured I would show off some of my new signed 55's. This is my favorite set and with these two additions it will put me currently at 48/90 possible. If anyone has any for sale shoot me a PM or email me at rcover213@yahoo.com.

Congratulations on 51 out of 90 in 1955 Topps. I doubt anybody else has more than that. Vic Hanson only died in 1982 and I've never even a 1955 signed by him. Do you have Bobby Dodd signed?

I regret not sending some of my duplicate 1955s to get signed in the late 90's when I was putting the set together. By the time I started getting them signed the guys started dropping like flies. Heck even a guy like Gaynell Tinsley is rare and he died in 2002. Between 1995 and 2005 a lot of those guys died. One of my biggest regrets as collector. Most of those probably signed. It is a cool set. My dad said he remembered the 1955 All-Americans still being the stores until the 1960s. Nobody wanted them.

I hope that everyone is doing well. I have a few new additions that I would like to share. The first is my 1955 Topps AA Ernie Nevers that I recently upgraded. The card is signed in beautiful, vintage ballpoint ink:

    image

Next up is my 1952 Bowman Small Steve Owen that was nearly crushed by UPS:

    image

Next up is my 1997 SP Authentic Tony Gonzalez signed TTM:

    image

Next up is a 1996 SP Jonathan Ogden that I had signed at a recent show:

    image

Lastly, is a 1995 SP Terrell Davis that I purchased from the SCN board. The seller had it signed at a recent golf outing.

    image

That's it for now. Does anyone else have any new additions to share?

The Owen looks nice in the JSA holder. It still presents well even after the accident.

Friedman is a pretty tough signature. He passed away in 1983 and wasn't inducted into the Pro Football HOF until 2005. I know it sent most of us scrambling around that time. Most of the signed cards he has are from the 1977 Touchdown set. It's been quite some time since I've seen one show up on the market. The only recent sale I've seen was in August for $1000. I previously sold my PSA/DNA example for $1250 a couple years back in order to purchase a 55 Topps Ernie Nevers which I still consider much more rare. It took me almost three years to replace! lol

I'll get the second one sent off to PSA and we'll see how it goes. If it comes back good, I'll list the top one. On another note, this was the last HOF RC card I needed from the 1955 Topps Set. It's all about the small victories!

Nope, just working on the 55 Topps set (62% complete) and 51 Bowman set (85% complete). The 51 Bowman set came along quickly but the 55 set has been tremendously difficult. I sold off most of my 55 Bowmans with the exception of the HOFers. I did keep one copy of Ford, McCormick, JHJ, Ringo and St. Clair for my collection and would always be interested in upgrading those if the opportunity comes along.

Hi Frank! It's good to see you on here. How is your collection coming along?

Hi Reese. Been doing well. I do keep up with this thread and others. I don't post as often. Many of the threads seem to have gathered a negative slant. I've been on these boards for 13 years and although guys have come and gone, everyone has always been supportive of each other and their collections. Lately some of that camaraderie has been missing. Not necessarily on this thread, but on many of the other threads I follow. Now when you post, your more likely to end up in an argument. Or someone will trash the new card you bought. Or call you an idiot for overpaying. The constructive passing of hobby knowledge gets thrown out. It's that negative energy that's kept me on sidelines.

As for the HOF autograph set (i don't participate in the HOF RC autograph set), I need some of the new HOF'ers. You and Greg used to be my main sources of filling the holes in my sets. Hopefully you can find me some new cards soon.imageimage

    Frank,

I've noticed some of the same things around the board, but thankfully I still feel the bond that all the football guys involved here and in the NFL HOF auto thread is still going strong. It seems as though most of us are still contributing and willing to help each other out.

Which sets are you working on these days? Maybe I can help image

The past year I made some strong improvements in my modern sets. Actually completed a few of my SP and SP Authentic football sets. 3 of them in all PSA 10 (1995 SP Holoview, 95 SP All-Pros, 2008 SP Authentic Pro Bowl Performers). Some of the bigger sets are a few cards away from all PSA 10 completion.
All my sets are current and viewable. I think you can probably help me out in my HOF autograph set. If you have any cards I need or upgrades, PLMK.

Over the next few months all be starting registry sets for individual players in baseball and football. I've been keeping these "player runs" on an excel spreadsheet, but think it's time to transfer the cards onto the registry.

Keep in touch. keep posting and I'll keep reading! image

<< <i>Congratulations on 51 out of 90 in 1955 Topps. I doubt anybody else has more than that. Vic Hanson only died in 1982 and I've never even a 1955 signed by him. Do you have Bobby Dodd signed? >>

I picked up Bobby Dodd! It cost me a pretty penny.

    Reese,

I can't believe that it's been nearly a year since I've posted. Thanks for trying to keep this thread alive. I'm currently on vacation in Disney w/ the family but will post scans of my recent pickups when I'm back. I haven't picked up anything for my HOF rc set lately, but did find a beautiful signed 1962 Topps Johnny Unitas signed in ballpoint ink. I'm trying to collect an entire run of signed Johnny Unitas vintage cards and am halfway there.

Did the Friedman that you bought at the end of last year pass certification? I have one that I purchased last year w/ a paper JSA cert that PSA has twice rejected. I'll have to compare mine against yours.... From the exemplars that I've seen, the one that I purchased looks good.

    Hope all is well.

    Rgs,
