HOF FOOTBALL RC AUTOGRAPH SHOWCASE/DISCUSSION

Whaddya know, it didnt take another year this time. I think i gave Mr Otto $15 to sign these.

image

he also signed this one for me for fun:
image

edit- has it really been a year since I've added a card to this thread? guess so. wow.

Here is the new one courtesy of John- thanks a lot for getting it signed, John (Jsweiton). He is really the man.

Finally have some new ones to post. here ya go:

Got this one back from Paul with donation.. 11/5/09

image

Got these Rices from a private signing... one will be available ( probably the one on the right).

11/2/09

image

extra Bob is avail as well
image

Dawsons today, thanks to Drew (Drewsef) for the cards (and extras)! Drew is the man.

5/18 Tom Matte
image

5/15/09

Charlie Sanders. Bought the Rc at a show a couple months ago, it's nice NM quality. upgrades my current one (which is now for trade). Also got the '71 topps game insert signed. I think that covers his RCs?

image
image

4/28 Tom Mack signed 1 of the 2 Rcs I sent.
image

waited 9 months buuuuut.... LT! sweet!
image

4/25 Largent upgrade.. one further down this post is for trade or sale.
image

4/25 Munchak
image

the one on the left is pack certified, on the right bought off ebay. is it real? I dunno. doubtful?
image

Joe Perry , he charges $10 per card.
image

2/20 Bob Lilly. He charges $5. Got the card for a very reasonable $40 from Ryan... this is a TOUGH card to find.

image
image

2/17 Ace Parker. I bought one of these during the summer an either didnt get it from ebay or sent it and didn't get it back, I can't remember. So I bought another one a few weeks ago (advertised as NM-M, yea right), and sent it. got it back, glad to knock Ace off the list.

image

2/8 Al Wistert. Nice. I wonder if he usually signs on the border like this?
image

2/8 Bob Griese! Nice. I sent this card during the summer! If anyone sent to Bob I think you will get yours back soon because I got 2 separate ones from the summer both back now. The card has a crease but oh well. Nice signature.
image

1/20 Nick buoniconti 64 Topps. The only '63 fleer RCs of his I see on ebay are psa 8.5s for $1200 so I got this for $5 instead.

image

1/18- dinged top right corner that wasn't disclosed but cool card for 10 bucks.
image

1 for trade
image

1 for trade
image

image

eventually for trade
image

1/16 12x pro bowler Randall McDaniel. Extra traded to Scott, thanks buddy.
image

12/19 I donated $15 and Mr Lary signed all 3 of my '52 bowman smalls! The one on the left and one in the middle are both for trade.
image

12/19 MR. Robustelli signed my '52 bowman small and added a signed 97 legends card as well! He is a nice guy.
image
image

12/16 Mr. Landeta was kind enough to sign (and slightly smudge) both his '84 topps USFL RC and his '86 topps NFL rc's for me. I don't know what his chances at canton are, but he punted for a LOOOOONG time, and he is who I think of when I think 'punter'.

image

12/15, Ted Hendricks. Top right corner bend, but I think it's around vg/ex to ex. Bought on ebay for under $5 shipped.

image

12/12 Not a HOFer but good QB by all accounts. I'll put it next to the LT when I get his.

image

12/5 An ugly George Blanda Rc..
image

12/5 6x Pro Bowler Karl Mecklenburg, the one on the right is for trade.
image

12/1 Heisman winner John Cappelletti signed 2 1977 Rookie cards for me. I'd be happy to trade one of them.
image

12/1 Mr. Steve Largent. Thank you to whomever sent me this card!
image

11/20 Mr. Bill Dudley! I sent him a $5 donation to his scholarship fund.
image

11/17 STEVE YOUNG! I know it's not the USFL card, but it is his first NFL card. He gave me a gorgeous signature!
image

11/17 Mr. George McAfee! Awesome.
image

Lenny Moore, I sent him $10 and he signed both cards for me. the '56 RC is an upgrade of one shown further down in the post, so if someone has a card I need I'd gladly trade it.

image
image

Lem Barney charged $10 to sign his Rc. Gave me a great signature and the card turned out pretty nice. Funny that the card cost $1.50 and the signature cost $10.
image

10/30 Pro Bowler Tom Scott
image

11/1 Pro Bowler and actor Fred Dryer
image

11/1 Alex Karras 4x pro bowler
image

10/23, Hugh McElhenny, another 52 bowman small. Hugh charged $15 to sign the card:
image

10/23 Gene Upshaw, thanks Mark (meteoriteguy) who gave me a great price on it!
image

10/17 Larry Little (this one is sweet!)
image

8 new ones in the last 2 months... here they are:

10/08 Gino Marchetti. Gino did not charge for his signature. Card is g-vg and it's the small not the large but it only cost $20 so it'll do!
image

10/08 Warren Moon. Mr. Moon also did not charge for his signature. This was a psa 8 crackout that now has a pretty dinged bottom left corner, but thats the nature of the beast.
image

10/08 Alan Page. I sent a $5 check donation to Mr. Page's charity. I got a letter back (this was in July I think) saying they wanted more money or else they would send the card back unsigned in a few weeks. I decided to wait and see what happens, and low and behold it showed up signed eventually!
image

10/08 Ken Stabler. Rough card, might upgrade this one someday.
image

10/08 Bob Kuechenberg. Cool success, 6x Pro Bowler and frequent HOF finalist but never elected.
image

10/08 Joe Ferguson. Came back a little bubbly, for some reason both the 74s I sent are glossy.
image

10/08 Elvin Bethea. Mr. Bethea charges a $10 fee. Glad to get this card back in the condition I sent it!
image

10/08 Bert Jones. Another 74 that came back with a slightly bubbly signature because the card is so glossy. Hmm.
image

Charley Trippi 8/7 thanks for your help Mike (Vito)!

image

Joe Schmidt 8/5
image

Selmon 8/5
image

Carrier 8/1
image

Mackey 7/24. He cost $10.

image

Grimm 7/19
image

Jackson 7/21
image

image

4/30 received this one in the mail. He isn't a HOFer but it is what it is. Still cool.

image

Got this card from Bob (Bottom9th) 6/3/08. Nice guy and sent me a nice group of hof rc's.
image

Got this one 6/4/08 from Greg M. He said it was a PSA 5 crackout.
image

Mr. Summerall mailed this one back to me 6/4/08. Sweet! Should be in the HOF one day I would think.
image

Mr. Newsome sent this one back 6/9/08 C/O the Ravens.
image

Got this one back from Mr. McCormick on 6/12. Sweet card from a sweet set!
image

Got this one from Mr. Anderson on 6/12. Not a HOFer but cool signed star RC nonetheless.
image

Got Mr. Zimmerman on the 13th:
image

Tarkenton came in on the 16th. Glad to get this one back!!
image

Reed came in on the 16th as well:
image

6/18 Mr. Langer
image

6/19 DeLamielleure
image

6/21 Charlie Joiner. can't tell if I like the signature. any opinions?
image

6/26 Charlie Sanders
image

6/27 Anthony Munoz
image

7/1 Harry Carson
image

Not quite coming in as fast as before! Mr. Campbell on 7/7. This is one I was wanting. He sure used a fat marker!
image

7/10 Lenny Moore. This one is big thanks to Perkdog!!!
image

7/11. St Clair charges $10 to sign a card.
image

7/14 Willie Davis
image

7/16 Stan Jones. Cost $5. I can live with that for sure.
image

7/18 Sayers charges $10 to sign a card. Had $30 into the card (it's EX), so $40 total for this I think is awesome!!
If you don't know much about Sayers, take 2 minutes to watch his greatest performance (agruably best in nfl history), the link is at the bottom of this post.

image

7/18 Don Beebe, just for fun
image

thanks
John

I have been contemplating doing something similar. I just got permission from Chuck Bednarik, George Mcafee, and Charley Trippi to send them 1948 Leafs. I'm figuring I'll have to send them a ballpoint pen, too as they tend to sign everything in Sharpie, otherwise.

The saddest thing about TTM is that the older players (even those in the HOF and that do shows regularly), the ones who probably need the money the most, are the most apt to sign without requesting a donation and are willing to sign as requested.

I just got this one back from Ace Parker who is 95 and I believe the oldest living HOFer. He charges $10, but he signed this and sent me 2 signed goal line art cards. Good luck with your set John!

John, if you send a lined or unlined index card to Bednarik he will stamp it with the Eagles logo and provide a big signature with his HOF year and playing years included. I have one and it is my favorite TTM I have. Darn scanner is down again or I would show you. Good luck with the project.

    John,

Does Campbell sign for free? If so, I might get him for my signed HOF rookie card collection as well. Right now I only have one football player in it (Montana) I always enjoyed watching him with the Oilers running with his shirt tail out and just dragging and running over people.

so far I have just stuck with ttm due to (typically) lower costs. I might venture one day into deceased. I dunno. I think first i'd be tempted to get the guys like marino, elway, rice, etc that you can't get ttm but are still living.

We all need to keep in mind that according to several reports I've seen over the last year or so, John Mackey is suffering from Alzheimers. So, we should all be thankful that he still even responds to autograph requests.

I agree....Mackey is in the latter stages of dimensia (sp?). The other day I was at an event which Lenny Moore attended and someone asked him how Mackey is doing and Moore told him that he really isn't good (no longer recognizes him).

I got Mackey IP last year. It was sad, he is probably down to a 4 year old's mental capacity. No joke. They actually had to place his hand with the pen where he was supposed to sign, and he struggled through it.
