    Guys,

I just send the following e-mail to PSA - the set should be updated shortly to be able to add any 1948 Leaf/Bowman or 1961 Topps/Fleer cards to the set.

    Hi,

Several of the collectors of this set, including myself, would like to add the option of adding a second rookie card to several of the player slots. Specifically, we would like to add:

1948 Leaf Clyde "Bulldog" Turner #3

    1948 Leaf Pete Pihos #16

    1948 Bowman Sid Luckman #107

    1948 Bowman George McAfee #95

1948 Bowman Steve Van Buren #7

    1948 Bowman Bob Waterfield #26

    1948 Bowman Charley Trippi #17

    1948 Bowman Sammy Baugh #22

    1948 Bowman Bill Dudley #80

    1961 Topps Don Maynard #150

    1961 Topps Jim Otto #182

Thanks in advance and have a great weekend!

    Rgs,

Last week, I submitted a request to create a future HOF signed rookie card set to the registry. Below are the cards that I requested. For Holmgren and Cowher, I used their 1991 Pro Line cards since they were the first issued cards of them. I think that we should allow either certified or non-certified 1991 Proline cards to the set. THoughts?

    GREAT NEWS!!!

The Future HOF signed rc set is live! See the link below:

    Linky

I don't believe all the cards were added that I requested - so I'll compare against my list and request any missing cards. I've already added my cards - and am around 25% complete. This will be a VERY hard set to complete. I'm looking forward to everyone's additions.

    Rgs,

Here is a response from Gayle regarding having the choice of adding 1948 Leaf or 1948 Bowman (e.g. Van Buren, Pihos, Waterfield, Baugh) cards and 1961 Topps or 1961 Fleer (Otto and Maynard) cards to the signed HOF rc set. I don't necessarily agree, however I can understand their position.

    Hi Greg,

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Rookie Players/Coaches/Admin Autographs set will remain as it is. Collectors have the option of using any card they want, including rookies in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Players/Coaches/Admin Autographs set.

    Thanks!

Where has everyone been lately? This thread has been way too quiet. I've added several rookie cards of current and future HOFers that I wanted to share w/ everyone. Additionally, I have a new addition to both my HOF auto and HOF rc auto sets - a signed 1952 Bowman Steve Owen! It's currently in the mail - so I'll post a scan once I have received the card. Needless to say, this card is one of the top 10 toughest in the set and is one of two that I've seen (the authenticity of the first was questionable).

    Thanks for looking!

I need to publicly thank Greg for helping me obtain these autos. Greg you are the best! I was able to knock off 3 huge cards for my HOF set. I did have to sell a few cards in my set to get these including Benny Friedman and Mel Hein. If anyone comes across either of these autos and already has them please let me know!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a great night last night. 2011 was a great year for my collection as I was able to add a number of difficult autos to my set. As many of you know, I've focused my attention primarily on 1933-1959. I picked up a few others along the way, but primarly I stayed focused on that goal.

In 2011, I was able to add the following:

    1948 Leaf Sammy Baugh
    1948 Leaf Doak Walker
    1950 Bowman Elroy Hirsch
    1951 Bowman Norm Van Brocklin
    1951 Bowman Emlen Tunnell
    1951 Bowman Ernie Stautner
    1952 Bowman Paul Brown
    1952 Bowman Jack Christiansen
    1954 Bowman Doug Atkins
    1955 Bowman Frank Gatski
    1955 Topps Ernie Nevers
    1956 Topps Rosie Brown
    1957 Topps Johnny Unitas
    1962 Fleer Billy Shaw
    1964 Philadelphia Don Shula
    1965 Topps Willie Brown
    1966 Philadelphia Bob Brown
    1975 Topps Mel Blount
    1981 Topps Dan Hampton
    1984 Topps Rickey Jackson
    1984 Topps Darrell Green
    1985 Topps Warren Moon
    1994 SP Authentic Marshall Faulk

My current want list for 2012
    1948 Leaf Bobby Layne
    1948 Leaf Bob Waterfield
    1948 Leaf George Connor
    1948 Leaf Leo Nomellini
    1950 Bowman Jim Finks
    1951 Bowman Tom Landry
    1952 Bowman George Halas
    1952 Bowman Wayne Millner
    1955 Bowman Len Ford
    1957 Topps Bart Starr

Lets keep this thread at the top this year!

The thread has been quiet lately - where has everyone been? I've added 4 cards recently - all of which have been high on my list. The first is a signed Doug Flutie USFL rc. Doug rarely signs TTM and rarely appears on the show circuit. While researching online, I stumbled across Doug's foundation for autism - in honor of his son Doug Jr. who has been diagnosed with Autism. I contacted the administrator at the foundation and asked if Doug would sign my card for a donation to his foundation. She referred me to Doug's agent, who provided her contact information and said that Doug would be happy to sign my card. After slightly more than I month, I received my card back signed yesterday...and it looks great!

The other 3 cards, I purchased on E-Bay recently - from a larger lot that sold individually. I have never seen a signed Galimore rc before - which is incredibly rare considering that he died in 1964. I believe that Willie has been a HOF finalist before and his signed rc would be a key card if he was ever elected to the HOF. I have been searching for a signed Rymkus card for several years - primarly because he has been a HOF finalist in the past. Even though this card isn't his rc (which is 1950 Bowman), any signed card of his would be difficult to find considering that he died in 1996. Little factiod - he was born in Royalton, IL where my dad lived for a while - even though they never knew each other. Finally, I already have a signed 89 Pro Set Parcells - but mine is personalized. The signature on the card below is 9/10 quality which is why I bought it.

    Doug Flutie signed 85 USFL
    image

    Willie Galimore signed 1958 Topps
    image

    Lou Rymkus signed 1960 Fleer
    image

Bill Parcells signed 1989 Pro Set
    image

I hope that everyone is doing well and please show off any new purchases. Have a great weekend.

    Greg,

I think it's just me and you left in this thread buddy! I know you already know I picked this one up, but here is the scan. It's passed the quick opinion and has been my white whale for many many years, going all the way back to when I first started collected HOF autographs in 2006. This additions fills three spots for me: HOF auto set, HOF auto RC set, and my 55 Bowman Auto Set.

It will be sent to Newport Beach hopefully this week!

Even though I'm not doing this set, I do follow this thread too. Congrats Reese. I was going to bid on that Ford card (and might have won), but my "collecting ethics" held me back. Knowing that the auction was posted on the boards and others were already bidding on the card, I felt it wouldn't be right to step on their toes. That Len Ford is awesome. $1,526 for that is not bad for something that is that rare. Very nice. Just having a Len Ford autograph is something, but to have his rooke signed is something special.

Great pickup Reese...I love the signature on the Ford rc. What funny about Ford is that I've now seen three authentic Ford signed rc (yours, mine and another that sold as part of a complete 55 Bowman set several years ago) but I have never seen a signed 57 Topps Len Ford...which I need for my signed 57 Topps set.

That was a huge addition to your collection....

How many signed HOF do you still need?

My brother-in-law attended the Super Bowl last week and his company threw a party. He told me that Fred Biletnikoff, Jack Ham, and Mel Blount would be there, so he got these cards signed for me.

I'm glad to hear so many people are still with us on this journey! It seemed a bit quite around here lol

Thanks for the compliments on the Ford. It was a big addition for me. I'm very happy to have it!

Greg, there are still quite a few cards I need for the set, but I've got a majority of the tough ones!

I also follow all posts here, but post in my own thread. Nice pick up on the Ford, Reese. I was wondering if one of you guys pulled the trigger on that one.

With regard to the set registry, have the new inductees been submitted? Also, I remember some mention of going with the Bud Grant Enor card, is that still the case? Lastly, what about adding the 2011 Panini HOF card of Ed Sabol?

I just sent the following e-mail to set registry staff:

    1. Replace the 2005 UD Legends card of Bud Grant w/ his 1995 ENOR card (since that would be his rc). I have attached a scan of the card that should be added.

    2. Add Ed Sabol (2011 Panini card)

    3. Add the Class of 2012:

    Jack Butler (1957 Topps #15)

    Curtis Martin (1995 SP #18)

Dermontti Dawson (1989 Score Supplemental #408S)

Cortez Kennedy (1990 Action Packed Update #39)

    Chris Doleman (1988 Topps #157)

    Willie Roaf (1993 Bowman #421)

I think that sums up all of the changes that we've discussed. Please let me know if I missed anything. I'll scan my autographs of the HOF class of 2012. The only one that I need is Curtis Martin (who I have outstanding TTM). I'll probably have to get one signed at an upcoming show because he rarely signs TTM.

Ok gents - the HOF rc auto set has been updated for the class of 2012 plus Ed Sabol's 2011 Panini card has been added. We are in the process of switching Bud Grant's rc from 2005 UD Legends to 1995 ENOR - I'll let you know when complete. Now - everyone update your sets!

    Thank!

They emailed me asking if the switch with the Grant was okay because I was the only one with it in my set. I said it wasn't a problem, so should be updated soon.

Here is Gayle's response to my e-mail which I find very offensive:

    Hi Greg,

The only person who has a card registered in the Bud Grant slot doesn’t care one way or the other if the UD Legend card is removed, so therefore, it is not an issue. We’ll swap the cards, which means, you, the only person who owns this card, will be able to update your set. All other members will have to wait until more cards are graded. Fair? Doesn’t appear to be from our perspective, but if you are comfortable that the rest of the participants will be ok with this exchange, we’ll do it. Just let me know.

    Thanks,

Wow, that is pretty rude. Here is my conversation with her. I actually already have the ENOR signed, as once we started talking about it I sent one out to him.

    Here is my response:

    Gayle,

There is no problem with making that switch. The topic was discussed with members of the set and we decided on that change.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Here is her original email to me:

    Hi Justin,

We have received a request to swap out a card in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Rookie Players/Coaches/Admin Autographs set. The player and card in question is BUD GRANT - 2005 UPPER DECK LEGENDS card. We are contacting you because you are the only one who has this card registered. The request we received was to swap the 2005 Upper Deck Legends #56 and replace it with the 1995 Enor Pro Football HOF card.

Can you please let me know if you would mind if we swap the required card for Bud Grant in the HOF Rookie Players/Coaches/Admin/Autographs set. Please get back to me as soon as you can so we know how to proceed..

    Thank you,

I've actually owned two 2005 UD Legend signed Bud Grant cards that I sold when we decided to use the 1995 ENOR card. To suggest that the change is self-serving is really offensive.

I don't add and subtract cards to benefit my set to the detriment of others - which is what she is suggesting. I have spent a LOT of time creating and updating the sets for myself and others to enjoy. That's hardly self-serving.

Drama aside, the HOF auto rc set has been updated to include all the changes previously listed, including swapping the 1995 ENOR for 2005 UD Legends for Bud Grant's rc.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's additions.

For Willie Roaf why his Bowman Rookie. It should be his 1993 SP and Curtis Martin should be his Bowman's Best or Select Certified.

Because the Bowman Roaf and SP Martin are their most expensive rc. We are using the same cards that were chosen for the HOF and Future HOF sets for consistency....

Greg, That is a crappy response from Gayle. Considering how anal they are about other things, the set is an RC set, you would think she would actually want an RC card in the set.
