<< <i>The more Sox fans come into this thread and chime in on every day to day detail, the more satisfying it will be when they crash and burn in October >>
You still will be donning a Red Sox Icon though Dan!
Two out of three, that what we have to do almost every time out now. Our starting pitching will be ALOT better from June 1st on with Clemens and Hughes coming. Lets make this interesting!!!!
Damon and Matsui looked like a couple of little leaguers in the outfield on balls that had a good chance of being caught. I hope this isnt how this entire game is going to look. Time to get on the horse! I saw on MLB.com the boss is saying this is all on Cashman's head.
Thanks for inviting the Angels to town. It's always nice to get a sweep there! Admittedly, it would feel better if it was in October. Good luck coming back in your battles with Boston.
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
Maybe Yankee fans have quietly been reflecting on just last year, when Boston led the Yankees by 4 games on July 4th - then, if I remember correctly, finished the season a whopping 11 games back...

No lead is safe. >>
I agree, but the Yankees are ions away from playing the type of baseball they did last year, I will go on a limb and say we will not let you guys catch us. If you do then we deserve to be the laughing stock of MLB and you guys wont here a peep of bad things out of my mouth against you guys.
Interesting thing from Mike & The Mad Dog this afternoon - Mike Francesa said the Yankees were "done" if the lead got to 15 games. He said there is no way the Yankees could come back from that. And, Mike Francesa is a Yankee fan who never ever gives up on his team.
At this point in time NOTHING would be better then the Sox running away and hiding and getting clobbered in the first round Thats what I will hang my hat on and THAT would make all of this worth it Once the euphoria of running away with a title wears off the Sox fan will start feeling the pressure of win it all or you suck.
IF the Sox continue to play 700 ore even .650 plus ball and run away with the title then most certainly you HAVE to win the World Series or else we all get to laugh at you. Not to mention the Sox will have the biggest payroll of any playoff team should the Yanks continue to falter.
Enjoy the Sox rampage .... the euphoria will turn to worry no matter how far out in front you are. Once you realize that the season the Sox are having is a joke unless they win it all, once you realize the Sox are the biggest cash cow of any possible playoff team, ....
Dan look at it this way, the Sox do have a huge payroll no doubt but as far as the Sox and the Yankees are concerned the Yankees since 2000 have been the biggest playoff cash cow and fallen flat on their faces, the Red Sox would have to fall flat in the playoffs a few more times to come close to being in the same category of the Yanks in that department.

Certainly, but I am not comparing them to the Yankees at this point. I am pointing out that the World Series or BUST cloud is moving in. (It is not such a bad cloud, but the pressure to win is huge) You can't rampage through the American League and then find a silver lining if you get booted early in October.
A-Rod on 2nd. Posada hits a high pop up between SS and 3B. Supposedly on the way to 3rd A-Rod yells "I got it" and the ball drops in and a run scores. Toronto was furious. Hilarious. Mariano gets a Save. First one since May 3. UNBELIEVABLE. 1 Game Winning Streak. Break up the Yankees!
"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."

Did he really do that! Good for him, I dont see that as being cheap like some of his other stunts, Toronto should be ashamed of themselves for falling for those reindeer games!
Yeah, nothing wrong with that. As smart as when the Toronto's Aaron Hill stole home last night. Kind of reminds me of Gene Michael's "Hidden Ball" trick in the 1970's which he pulled off a few times each season.

Good to see some hits from Cabrera, Cano, and Abreu - hopefully Melky can start looking like last year with some regular PT. I thought Youkilis overreacted a little last night, I know the pitch was high and tight but it was 2-2... Should be a good next couple of games with Schilling/Beckett going against Moose and Pettitte...
I think Youk was in his right to do what he did, I dont know if Proctor did that on purpose as payback for Cano getting hit. Now Im not saying he wanted to hit him in the face but pitching inside high like that could of been ugly.
My hat is off to Posada for going out of his way to talk Youk though, he is first class guy.
This loss stunk but I see some very bright spots in these two games. Cano, Melky and even Abreu are starting to hit. I hope Doug is all right. That was a nasty blow to his head.

Its good you can see bright spots every now and then we dont want you guys losing all interest...
Great game and typical suspense filled Yankee-Sox game. Vintage Mo. Abreu's hitting is coming around and he made an unbelievable play to save the game. Say what you want about A-Rod but this year he has been clutch. That kid Pedroia on the Sox looks very good. Looks a lot like a young Trot Nixon and has that spunk to boot.

Oh, and I might add the second 2 out of 3 series won from the Red Sox. Could be a turning point for the Yankees season.

The Yanks did take four out of six from the Sox the past two weeks and with a bounce here and a bounce there we could have swept all six. If there was ever a time to turn it around it is now. Lets not kid each other, we are only 6 back in the loss column from the wild card leader. There is a TON of room to make a move here.
