I just picked up JD Drew for my fantasy league. I think he's coming out of his two+ month slump finally. I hope.

Are you sure that is a wise move? Based upon his previous history he only has about 100 more at bats before he gets injured and is out for the season. At least he plays some games unlike a certain Pavano guy we Yankee fans just love. image

Tek wins the game for us tonight - and Tavarez turns in another decent start.

HUGE WIN! Keeping pace with the Yanks and their string of wins is so freakin' important, we need to keep it going!

As far as Drew goes hopefully he can start earning a portion of the ridiculas money he is making, better late than never though, so keep it up JD!

I just realized...was it that old washed up pitcher, Randy Johnson shut down the Bosox today? Gee, a little irony there!

Let me tell you - that is not the same Randy Johnson that pitched in NY. It was the old, unhittable, surly, miserable Randy Johnson from before those New York days. Clearly something was wrong with him in NY, because he was like his old self today.

And, that was me yelling at Tito not to bring in Mike Timlin. Ever again. Please.
    image
  • Come on, even when Randy Johnson was on the Yankees he had some great games. He was like a yo-yo, he pitched a great game then followed it up with a terrible game....no consistency. Last year, I particularly remember a 1-0 shutout against Wakefield and the Red Sox when he pitched a gem. Big Papi could never hit a lick off of him.

You're probably right - but whatever surgery he had before this season seems to have done him good.

Dice-K pitched well again, very well actually, but he is getting no run support these last few games. It doesn't help that the Sox have to play these ridiculous inter-league games on the road (where you lose Big Papi some of the time, and pitchers have to hit who have basically never hit in their entire life) while the Yankees get to play candy-ass teams like the Pirates at home. When do we play the Pirates?
    image
  • Sure the Pirates aren't a great team but they have one of the best pitchers in the NL in young Gorzelanny who was 6-3 with a 2.5 ERA before the Yankees beat him and increased his ERA a bit. Give the Yankees some credit. Who knows, Gorzelanny might have beaten the Red Sox.

The Yankees lose some of there big hitters too. You are making excuses.

Dont worry CTSox. You have the Rockies for the next 3 days. Maybe that will even you up with the Yankees playing the Pirates.
  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,606 ✭✭✭✭✭
Well lets see if we can get it going after todays day off, we were flat against the A's, flat against AZ, the bats need to wake up and start producing runs like we have been. The Yankees Softball type run support will end soon enough and things will be looking back to normal again.

BOY! Randy Johnson and Sheffield are doing great right now! The YAnks are just ONE, yes ONE game below .500. MAybe the pair would be willing to run back to NYimage

    Jerry,

Do you whine about every little supposed "slight" you see? Its the schedule, its the road games, its losing your DH, its the day game after night game, its the umpires yada, yada, bla, bla, bla excuse, excuse, excuse. Are you going to disregard Sox wins against crap teams too? If not .... stop it already man LOL

OK, Wakefield on the hill tonight! Hopefully he will bounce back with a nice performance after his last DISGUSTING outing.

And lets hope the bats are alive as well....

Yeah, let's hope the day off helped them recover from the road trip. I read that a lot of the guys stayed home and rested yesterday rather than going to the ballpark. Let's hope that gives them what they need to finally start giving the pitching staff some run support.

Is it too early for a "let's score some freakin' runs" chant?

Again! Not much freakin' run support! Well at least Wake redeemed himself with a gem of a performance tonight.

Wake is back on track! Excellent! image
  • 2 runs? What's wrong with your big guns Manny and Big Papi? Are they hurt? You guys are lucky Wakefield was on.

UMM, Papi was 3 for 3, Manny 0-2 with a pair of walks... We are fine, just in a minor slump as far as producing runs goes BUT still winning ballgames and keeping the distance from you fellas. Thanks for asking though.
  • Home Runs down. Don't seem to be the Papi and Manny of old.

I know, it's scary to think how good this team is going to be once Papi and Manny start hitting the way we all know they will.

The pitching saved the day again - Wake was sharp, and Papelbon looked the best I've seen him all season. It's true, when the hitting comes around (and you know it will) this team will be really tough to beat.

I also liked the new lineup tonight. At least Tito isn't sitting back and just waiting for the bats to come alive.

Hitting? I think Big Sloppy and Manny are old and washed up! Their days have come and gone! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

I just had to say that cuz thats what Yanks fans always hear when a player isnt playing their norm image

But seriously, Bosox pitching is doing well and possibly even slightly over-achieving...along with Lowell with his bat which often happens in big seasons for teams. Yes, you can go back to the 1996 Yankees for a bunch of guys that over achieved all together in one year. That's the way the magic happens!

But the Yanks are back so keep on your toes Bosox!

I have to admit I really hate that so much attention is being paid to the wild card race and playoffs already. It's meaningless right now! Way too much baseball yet to be played and anything can happen.

Just remember to keep an eye on who is coming up behind you! image

And the Yankees won again. image

Seriously, even with the best of pitching, 2 runs is not acceptable for a lineup with this kind of talent and it's not going to get the job done. I'm frustrated now.
  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,606 ✭✭✭✭✭
Yea Im starting to get Pi$$ed off BIG TIME. We had NY 14.5 back and these guys are ALLOWING them to come right back in the rear view, if they mess this up and continue to allow that FREAKING Yankee team to climb back into it then they deserve the ridicule.. Im serious! I cannot stand this bull$hit 2 runs here and there, with NY putting up softball #'s EVERY FREAKING GAME!

    OK I had to Vent.....................

What I think will be interesting with this whole AL East race is that the Sox and Yankees don't play each other again for quite a while. It seemed like we had a little rivalry overdose early in the season, but maybe by the time we match up again the games will have that playoff atmosphere again?

I've officially decided it is a race again, by the way. The Red Sox can't seem to score more than 2 runs a night and their pitching can't hold the other team to 1 or less every game. In fact, the Sox are averaging a little less than 4 runs per game in June and if you throw out the two games where they scored 10 and 11 runs you're looking at 2 1/2 points a game. Completely pathetic.

I guess my question is which will happen first: will the Sox bats wake up before the Yankees arms grow tired?
