What looks ridiculous is your above post. If you bothered to read before making the above statements you might be embarrased a bit. Axtell has been mouthing off ALL YEAR about how the Yankee pitching has SUCKED. So, spare us all your spin on the numbers too. If the Yankees pitching truly SUCKED they would not be 4th in the AL in Earned Run Average. The small differences between the Yankees and who is behind them in your arguement is SPIN CITY. As a matter of fact, all of the touting about the Sox pitching you did early on in the season combined with your biased thoughts on the Yankee staff is ALL THE REASON IN THE WORLD for you now try and downplay what has been a solid Yankee pitching staff all around thus far.
Top 5 is Top 5. Your either in it or under it. No "skewing" of the facts went on, simply put. It doesn't matter how closely bunched #6-10 is, they aren't in the Top 5. Ax came on and said the pitching "SUCKED". Top 5 was the response.

I knew you guys would say that - no problem. The Yanks 4.30 puts them in the top 5. There you go.
I never disputed that. What's ridiculous is that you are getting all worked up over a small advantage (.15!) over his Mariners. It matters when you need to offer a lame excuse.
First off, you came on here and said the Yankees sucked. It then was mentioned that they had a record well above 500. and were 3 games behind the leader. When you could not dispute that hard fact you tried to change it to the pitching sucked. When it was shown that the pitching was in the top 5 in the AL you as usual tried to downplay that. FWIW .15 difference in ERA in the case of the Yanks and mariners equate to having a winning record (the Yanks) or a losing one (mariners).
Also whenever you get owned (which is always) in the case of the Yanks you bring up payroll. I wonder if you truly know anything about baseball.

Mariano did a really nice John Wetteland impersonation tonight ....... even so a nice win all around against the tough White Sox. Now, if the A's can finish off the Red Sox it will be a nice beginning to the second half The Yanks need to stay as close as possible to the Sox as they try and mend up for the push. Knocking that 3 game lead in half after 2 days will be a nice start.
As much as I detest the Red Sox I really wish Josh Beckett would STOP killing my PSA fantasy team. His record aside, Josh has been a poor fantasy pitcher ....... and pitching has been my teams strong point.

His change-up sucks. All the hitters are just looking fastball and teeing off on him now.

Great game today. Mussina pitched well enough, as did the bullpen. The offense looked real solid, some nice hit and runs, sacrifices, bunts, and big hits in big spots. As of now they closed to within a game of the Red Sox, hopefully they can keep it going.
"The other teams could make trouble for us if they win." -- Yogi Berra
Bri, I will take every Red Sox loss at home we can get. The majority of their schedule is at home by a big margin the rest of the way. Every loss at home for the Sox is a bonus for the Yankees. The Yanks need to stay close until the team is settled (whatever that may be) for September.
You guys pasted the Chi Sox today, looks like you guys are ready to take over the division lead. Again it still drives me crazy how you dont loose a step after Matsui and Sheff go out, I meen thats over 50 Hr's and 200 plus rbi's gone from that lineup and still right there battling my Sox. Quite frankly I wish neither the Yankees or the Red Sox make the playoffs but one of them will. We need fresh blood. Either the Yankees or Bosox will be the odd man out for sure. It is a fluke that the Yankees have beaten the White Sox 2 games. The White Sox will be in the playoffs at the end of the season. Did I hear correctly when Tim McCarver said that Mike Mussina is the only pitcher in American League history to have 15 consecutive seasons of at least 10 wins? McCarver is always yapping so I am sure he is wrong. It's hard to imagine that there haven't been others besides Mussina.

right on, topps... I am of the belief that Detroit will fade heavily in the 2nd half as well. They have tons of games left vs. the Yanks, Red Sox, and Chisox, who they are 3-10 against this year.. Cleveland always plays better in the 2nd half, and Minny is a bad team to face when Liriano and Santana pitch...Tigers starters Jeremy Bonderman, Nate Robertson and Kenny Rogers all have pitched dramatically worse in the second half in their careers. Justin Verlander almost has exceeded his minor-league inning total from last season and rookie Joel Zumaya has to make it through a full year as a high-powered set-up man for the first time... and Todd Jones?
The Yankees will finish with a better record than the Tigers.
When I heard that Moose had that record i thought of Walter Johnson and sure enough Johnson did not do it either. Cy Young did it but he played in both leagues. Incredible what Moose has been able to do.

<< <i>Yep, Moose holds the AL record for consecutive seasons with 10+ victories. He's never been dominant but usually very consistent. >>

Next up after tomorrow,
Axtells' Mariners
We'll never hear the end of it if they win this upcoming series or even worse sweep
But will he show up if the opposite happens?
Of course, he doesn't know when to quit. >>

149 posts and you're running your yap? Or did you forget to sign into your primary account? Or are you hiding behind your alt? >>
Ax, maybe if you'd get off your mom's titty for a few minutes (in between trips on and off of A-Rods jock and shifts at Jack in the box), you'd realize that no one likes you, no one wants you around, no one CARES one iota of what you think or say.
I'd tell you to get a life but it looks like you've already been dealt a bad hand there
Of course, you could always cast a level 13 jocksniffer spell on me, or some other fantasy world of yours spell to out my alt

<< <i>Ax,
Guy is legit. He was the number two 1978 Topps baseball set for a long long time HE posted mainly in the 78 Topps thread. He lurks more than he posts. He knows that you can be quite a ding dong
Fat a$$ drunk Ponson starts against your Mariners Ax ....... >>
Soft, thanks for the cover, i was almost found out by the master genius detective Ax
I don't think there is anyone else on these boards that is truly more clueless or annoying than Axtell, how many times can someone be utterly and completely wrong about something and STILL continue to spout and spin until everything turns out right in his own little world.
Sheesh
The Yankees will finish with a better record than the Tigers.

Please post here more often.
BTW - found what may be the A$$mell problem.
In the OF the Axhole mentioned a family reunion in Tennessee. Turns out he's a descendant of the Beverly Hillbillies. That may explain the NYC / Northeast US anger.
Ain't that right AxJethro?

Many Southerners typically have a problem with those from New York and the North.
There's nothing wrong with being from the South. I have many, many friends from the South both here and around the country.
But it does explain why you're such bigoted goober.
bigoted - blindly and obstinately attached to some creed or opinion and intolerant toward others; "a bigoted person"; "an outrageously bigoted point of view"

I was in Tenessee for 10 days. I just got back. Nashville was ALOT of fun. The Opryland Hotel is out of control ..... what a great place. What a great place to blow a TON of money

You mean *you're*?
Well it is good to see that at least you agree with the statement other than "you're"
That's true but I think he has a good shot this year. Hey, who is this Milky kid the Yankees have? I saw him throw out a White Sox runner on Sports Center highlights. He looks like a baby. I didn't think the Spankees had anybody in their farm system.
Things are getting tight in the AL East. The Jays are 3.5 back.

Good to see you're trolling as usual.
Do you ever come up with your own material, or are you always piling on? You remind me of one of those guys cheering on 2 guys fighting, but you never have the balls to get in a fight on your own.
Get lost, chump.

Well, in the course of the past year if you don't count guys like Chein Mein Wang, Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrera, Scott Proctor, Andy Phillips, and Bubba Crosby who have all came up from the farm system and have done well then ...... yeah the "spankmees" don't have anybody in the farm system

If you don't see the irony in calling someone an 'idiot' while at the same time committing an obvious spelling blunder there's no hope for you.
