<< <i>Nice sale on those PSA 10s, who is this bulldog682 who won those cards. He has never bought any cards before then gets those one. Jealousy on my part I guess. Would like to have one PSA 10 for my set, but will have to wait.

Who ever it is they seem to be paying a premium for the PSA 9's. If you are thinking about unloading now might be the time!!!!

Thanks for the offer, but you caught me at a bad time. I have a bunch of bids out on Ebay and if I win them all, I will be short in the pocket book.

    tennesseebanker,

It's a great set and still quite a bit of unopened material available and still reasonably priced (with a few exceptions). You should have fun putting it together. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time or money available to work on it the way I want to. I just have too many sets going right now. imageimage

tennessee- Welcome to the 75 set. I just started it a few months ago, I'm figuring it'll take me 5-7 years to complete. I've noticed PSA will put some pretty off center '75 cards in PSA9 holders, so I try to avoid those ones on ebay.

One interesting fact is there hasn't been a Robin Yount rookie graded PSA 10 yet.

No Yount Rookie in 10, Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I did not know that.image

You pick up the first Yount or Ryan 10 you would have a good amount of cash. The first Aaron 10 I think just went for $6k.

Has anyone bought any of the unopened wax in 75 from BBC Exchange ? I have opened many different years of unopened product but never any 75's. I was wondering if anyone could say the 75 wax was worth the $100 price??

Ok, here is my original plan on the 75 Topps set I am trying to build.
I am trying to acquire all commons in 8, I recently bought around 150 off ebay, all were under $4.50.
I may try to acquire all stars in 9 or better if i get lucky. this in theory should bring up the g.p.a of the set.
    Wish me luck.image

Here is a story you might like. When I was growing up 75 was the set all the kids in the neighborhood were collecting. Had a friend who had collected the whole set in unopened cello packs. Just think what that would be worth today.

    Men:

Thought I had a PSA 9 or 10 Brett for sure today. Cracked two Rack Packs and pulled a Brett, had two Gem corners, a nice one, and a softly touched one - plus perfect centering, nice gloss, and perfectly smooth edges - looks like an 8.

Also got a FRobby, Carlton, Mantle MVP, Brock (10 potential), Lynn RC, and an 8 or 9-ish Reggie Cleveland. Also a Mint (but sadly 85/15 oc) Marty Perez. Couple other decent ones. Sent in the best this morning. Wish me luck.

One rack from ebay, one from BBC Exchange - brett came from ebay.

COOL! The Brett will be an awesome 8. The Carlton looks like it could cut through a loaf of bread! I have an unopened Cello sitting around here, should I open it today and try for a Brett as well, or would I just get 25 cards with dinged corners?

Bought the one on ebay for about $160 (w/bench, mantle mvp and carlton), bought Steve's only rack for $225 (Lynn, brock, cleveland). I toyed with buying the set Steve has, but I think it's likely a little high (ryan o/c and rose has a touch - both would have to be replaced). Besides a good rip is way more fun. BUST THAT CELLO!

I have some nice 75's with blotches on them similar to the one at the top of the LOCKLEAR card in Bosox's post. How much does that diminish the grading by PSA. Does anyone know?? or is that considered a print dot? thanks al.

    Bosox1976Bosox1976 Posts: 8,536 ✭✭✭✭✭
Blotches/fisheyes don't hurt the grade by much at all. I've even seen 10's with fisheyes.

"Brett" PSA 10 goes for $6500. I emailed this 93% rated seller earlier in the week to send me a picture of the card with the front page of the daily newspaper. This is my standard practice on big ticket items. No reply. I hope the winner has done their homework.

I know it's within the specs, but for 5 figures I'd want my PSA 10 to have better centering. High and right, just barely within Gem specs. The borders look immaculate, though.

But let's talk about me. I finally added the Brett RC to my set that I picked up last month. 658 down, 2 to go. I don't know why I held off so long on getting this card, it's not like 8s are super-expensive. I never did like Brett personally, though. As a kid he always seemed like the kind of guy I wouldn't get along with. Plus he hit .390 when his Royals fought my Phillies in 1980. Thankfully the Royals lost, or my set would likely have to stand complete at 659 cards. Of course now I see him as a great HOFer and getting picked off after his 3000th hit gave me a whole new image of him as a likeable, human guy.

And overall it's very heartening to see that even about 5 years into the Registry, this is still a very active set, with updates on 8 others of the top 20 sets. Most of those sets have been there a long time, but some new ones have come in that I don't recognize by name. One of these days even Jon's Crazy 8s will get pushed out. That set hasn't changed in at least 2 years. And it's amazing that there are now 4 mint+ sets. So much for colored borders being tough.

Doug, the 1 psa 10 Aaron I believe went for around $6500. I would say it would go for around the same. Although there have been a couple different people bidding outrageous amounts on different items. If you get 2 deep pocket ego's going after it I would think it could push 8k.

in my opinion the top/bottom centering and the white print dot seemed bit questionable for it being a 10.

despite that though i figured this card would have ended at around $10k and be another example of buying the holder and not the card.

Any luck finding quality cards for grading. I have noticed with racks that I have bought that there only seems to be one compartment of the 3 that yields anything good. The other 2 always seem to be filled with miss cut or oc cards.
