If anybody has any of the common, common 9's for sale I would be interested. By common, common, I mean ones you would be willing to sell for $6 or $7 each. Let me know need almost all as I just started. 9s only, with no qualifiers, no 8's or 10's unless the 10's are at 9 prices image
  • Options
Anyone know who just broke up their mostly 9 set?
  • Options
Apple383 (Dave Sobie) just broke and sold that '75 set on eBay. I don't believe
it was a registry set though.

p.s. Some REAL STRONG prices on several of the "toughies" (Did you see the
sale price on the Rusty Staub?!?!?! image

That was a real strong price!! I remember selling a John Morlan (Pirates) when it was a pop of 6 or 7, don't think it even cracked $200.
  • Options
I bid on a number of those cards as I am now 11 cards short of the set and didn't even bother bidding on the Staub card since it was already way over what it typically sells for.

For anyone that can help - here is what I am missing PSA 9s or 10s for:

    47 Tommy John
    90 Rusty Staub
    120 Steve Busby
    196 1958 MVPs Banks / Jensen
    343 Danny Frisella
    402 Bob Tolan
    481 Will McEnaney
    485 Sparky Lyle
    555 Al Oliver
    590 Cesar Cedeno
    647 Claudell Washington

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I submitted what I feel are 61 of the nicest 75 Topps I have ever submitted today under the collectors club special. I am very optimistic of my first ever 10 on the set. I really think there should be one or two in there. Sorry Rooster, I did not have any on your list worthy of submitting. Has anyone on here submitted one that graded a 10? If so did you feel you would get a 10 when you submitted or do you never really expect a 10 and just hope you get a good grader?
  • Options
Any 75 collectors out there have some high end 75's sitting around that you aren't motivated to get graded? Looking for raw singles that are PSA 9 worthy.
  • Options
I ended up with 34-8's out of my 61 card submission. (No 10'S) If any of you are working on a PSA 8 set let me know.

I was one of them. I am down to my last 10 cards and want to complete the set and move on. I have been watching PSA 9s sell for over 3 years now and that is the first one of those I have seen come up. Given the recent price the Staub card brought, I thought I had bid high enough to get it.

That common is likely the thoughest card in the set to get and I sure would like to get my hands on one graded a 9 (as well as fill out my remaining set).

Anyone else that can help - here is what I have remaining:

    47 Tommy John
    90 Rusty Staub
    196 1958 MVPs Banks / Jensen
    343 Danny Frisella

Yep the 343 card was definately a high one I too bid on it but not that high. Another other card was the 551 Larry Christenson another tough one. I'm sending a 343 Danny Frisella in that I got out of a rack pak its border line for a nine. Hope I'm not disapointed.

    Hi,

I am a '75 mini collector but have a regular '75 Topps Claudell Washington in PSA 9 if anyone wants to buy it. Feel free to PM me.

Edit to add: this is the only copy I've seen that does not have that print dot on the top right, which is why I jumped on it way back when. This card is even tougher to find mint in mini form, with only one PSA 9 and no 10s.

    Best,

    Matt

That PSA 9 Frisella is not OC...the name is lower than normal on that card which is a common anomaly in the 75 issue. If you look closely at the card, the baseball on the bottom is not OC and neither is the team name on top, just the player's name is lower.

Were all of them printed low like that or just part of them? If only part were low I would think that woudl fall under a print fefect that woudl have to be taken into consideration for OC?

Darrell Evans is another that has the same "low name" issue. There are a couple others but I cannot remember which ones. I think they are all blue-green variety.

I was always under the impression that they judge centering from the bottom of the name, not from the baseball, and that was what made it so tough. So to find one centered, you have to find one that is actually centered a bit high, if that makes sense.

BTW DCaudle - that's not what they mean by PD. A PD would be an ink smudge or something similar.

I'd think $200-250 would be the range for Claudell. Of course the mini version would bring 4X that.

    That is one WEAK nine.

    Rooster,

Turn on your PM. I'm still open to best offers. Will see how they shake out then maybe throw on the bay.

Below are pix of the other two PSA 9's which have sold (pulled down from VCP), for comparison. To each his own, but I personally prefer no tilt and no printing imperfections.

There are several cards in the 75 Topps Sets, Regular and Mini, that have the player name printed lower from the player photo than other cards. Those that are like this are not a variation type situation. If the player name is lower from the photo of the player on one it is lower on all cards of that player. Professional graders need to be more aware of these nuances in sets like this of the 75 Topps (Regular/Mini) Sets. Cards may have been mis-graded because the grader simply is not aware of the fact that some cards of a given player in this set have the name printed lower from the player photo on certain player cards (and I mean all of that given players cards). Thus, INMHO, they should be graded with that in mind. They should be more cautious prior to slapping a lower grade or an OC qualifier on these cards. Other cards in addition to those mentioned that come to mind are #344 Ben Olglivie, #354 Dick Bosman. I'm pretty sure there are a few others. I'll check the set and get back with a complete list. A list that all professional grading companies should have!

I agree completely...and while we're at it, as far as minis are concerned, I'd like to think that every pack fresh red/yellow or green/yellow card I pull won;t automatically come back minsizereq because those color combos were cut that way in the factory.

    Sorry all sold
  • Options
Yes, I have some absolutely steller examples of red/yellow and green/yellow 75 Topps mini cards that are too short for PSA's grading standards. They are perfectly centered and straight from packs I opened. PSA may not grade them, however, I won't be getting rid of them anytime soon. They are great looking cards!

Think I posted this previously in the incorrect forum so here goes again:

Hello all. I'm new to posting here and just started collecting the '75 Topps set in (hopefully) 9's or 10's. I've been collecting for years and post mostly on the Freedom Card Board site. Anyone who has extra 9's or 10's, I'm always interested.

    Thanks!
