i'm sure a lot of people will say the Broncos suck and had no business being on the field today, but i don't view it that way. at all. they have the right pieces in place -- an established HC & promising QB. they just need experience and time. today they were playing a well-oiled machine that's roughly a handful of years ahead of them. keep your shades on, because the future is still bright.

The New England Patriots have hired Mike Vrabel as their new Head Coach.

NFL’s way to create parity is to give teams a schedule to match their ineptitude the year before. You get the Chargers and Broncos leading the league in defense and giving up 63 in the wild card round

No dog in this hunt but that fumble was BS. The overhead shot clearly saw the returner with possession and was down. The the pile began. It should have been blown dead. BS

My favorite team is a one and done this season. Better than the past 8 seasons of not making the playoffs.

Hopefully the team will be better next year, make the post season and win a game or two.

Grats to the Bills. I would like to see a Bills v Vikings or a Bills v Lions Super Bowl.

They did well with a rookie QB.

And that was with an 89M cap hit mostly all due to Russell Wilson's huge dead money cap hit for 2024. In 2025 their dead money hit drops to just 33M which means they'll have a nice chunk of cap space to improve their roster.

For a team that had hoped to recover from that disaster of a decision at QB, the fallout from it worked out better than expected.

who wins the Buf v Bal game? I cant wait. Bal rushing attack was incredible. If they can keep that up they will be hard to beat. but Josh plays for the other team. He really seems like an unstoppable football player at this point. He is a menace to whatever team they play.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I think KC easily handles Hou.

    KC should throttle Houston

Baltimore vs Buffalo should be an epic matchup

If I'm Buffalo I'm seriously nervous

I agree. Baltimore's rushing game was top notch. if that continues, I dont see any team that can beat them.

If we must make a pick:
--- KC over Houston and it may not be close.
--- Baltimore over Buffalo by 8+ because Derrick Henry is playing like a rookie.
If those are the teams that win, it will set up what could be an epic game with Baltimore traveling to KC.

I think KC has a much better Defense than Buffalo

    Baltimore 34
    Buffalo 27

    KC 28
    Baltimore 17

The Bills are playing with house money. No one predicted this after losing 6 all pros and their entire secondary. Would I be disappointed? Sure. I just love watching a team win 14 games when they were picked 3rd in their division.
Baltimore is a tough out for anyone. The Super Bowl winner is in this game

I was surprised by the strategy used by Buffalo yesterday. My observation is that they ran as much as they did early to wear the DL out somewhat and draw those DB's up towards the line to defend the run. Then they passed more as the game progressed. It was smart and effective. To your point, KC does have a better defense then they are ever credited for. The spotlight is always on the offense and Mahomes, but the defense is one of the best.

If Houston even sniffs a victory the flags will fly fast than you can slap a tick off a hound dog.
Nothing is going to stop an epic KC - Baltimore/Bills game.
The NFL will make sure of it. Houston May get called for PI in the tunnel and roughing the passer when Mahomes is still in the locker room

Mike McCarthy does absolutely nothing for me personally. but i'm so completely numb to us hiring the wrong guy that i wouldn't be able to get sick to my stomach if we gave him the reins.

if i'm Ryan Poles (our GM whom i don't like), no one other than a brilliant offensive mind is getting the job. we need someone who is going to cultivate Caleb & the O and max them out. period, end of story. and that would be Johnson. he transformed the Lions into a league-leading, 33.2 PPG juggernaut when they have the ball.

as i said previously.......a blank check, hookers, blow, my girlfriend, whatever he wants

with that said, i'm fully prepared to whip out my 'Don't Kill Yourself' book after our next hire

No one talking about Vikings/Rams, so I'll chime in.

I'm hoping Darnold has gotton over his big game "nerves/fear/overpsych" and will be playing more like he has during regular season. Otherwise Vikings don't have much of a chance.

If we do win, it's on to Philadelphia, and that doesn't look very promising. I haven't watched the Eagles this year. Are they healthy? They have been highly regarded this year.

Chicago seems like its the best option for an offensive guy like Johnson where they have most, if not all, of those pieces already in place with very few holes to fill. I hope that he ends up being their guy. At this point, I wouldn't want McCarthy either.

I was wondering how many QB's had great performances in their first truly BIG game?

For the most part, he performed VERY well during the regular season.

Many here in Minnesota have written him off already over 1 bad game.

@JoeBanzai, my opinion of Darnold isn't based on his performance this year, it's based on what he's done prior to this season which was horrible. Granted, he is surrounded by better players now but that doesn't improve his personal skill which has never impressed me, even when he came out in the draft. Sometimes just a change of scenery works wonders and that appears to be what's going on with the Vikings this season.

  • galaxy27galaxy27 Posts: 8,144 ✭✭✭✭✭

prior to this season i didn't think Darnold possessed any redeeming value whatsoever as a QB. but having watched him a number of times as a Vike, he looks the part now. he deserves a lot of credit for his improved play.

    but

and this is a significant but

he best be the best version of himself, because he has Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and TJ Hockenson to play pitch-n-catch with. if your production isn't elevated with that type of supporting cast, then it's very much a glaring you problem

The Minnesota quarterback lived a charmed life during the regular season until the last game with Detroit. Now he’s shown himself to be second rate. Minnesota has shown that they played above their heads for much of the year. The Vikings are dead now.

Darnold was bad last week. The offensive line has been brutal and the play calling has been awful. Other than a couple of big runs, the running game has SUCKED.

No doubt Darnold holds the ball too long. How about a roll out, a slant pass, a screen pass, a quarterback run?

Give the Rams defense something to think about other than rush the passer.

    Probably too late for this.

Blame it all on the QB.

I blame a lot on O'connell's play calling, he gave the Lions a gift FG and failed to kick 2 FG's in the first half last week. The Vikings should have been ahead at halftime.

Going for it on 4th this week before halftime gave the Rams a TD.

Sam's not playing well either, no doubt about it.

I can only agree that a better offensive plan might have helped the Vikings but Sam Darnold is everything @JoeBanzai hinted at, almost a strict pocket passer who doesn't show much mobility when needed. It's why I thought he'd fall flat when he was drafted, he doesn't "fit" the mold of what's needed in a modern QB.

The Vikings had a good season.
