The Official 2023 NFL Regular Season Discussion Thread

erikthredderikthredd Posts: 7,892 ✭✭✭✭✭

I didn't see one of these after a quick search and decided to just make one now for all NFL related stuff or random thoughts.

Looks ike Aaron Rodgers just reworked his contract over the next two seasons where he voluntarily took a 35M paycut, going from a guaranteed 110M down to 75M. its going to be interesting to see how the Jets use that extra cap space to keep building around him.

Wow,that's going to be a tough loss if he's down for the season. a case could be made that Ramsey & Xavier Howard would have been the best starting CB duo in football.

Hopefully he is OK, my buddy is a fanatical Dolphins fan and he wasn't happy when I sent him that link

Probably dont want to send him anymore links. Ramsey is going for an MRI. Unfortunately theres a pretty good chance its an ACL

  • Basebal21Basebal21 Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭✭

Good and bad news for Ramsey. Wasnt an ACL which is good but was a meniscus and will be out a couple months

Really best case scenario if youre getting sent for a same day MRI

The Tampa Bucks are putting up a brave front, but this season is going to a disaster. When Baker Mayfield and the guy who backed up Tom Brady are your hopes for the season, it reminds me of @doubledragon’s trashcan lineup from two seasons ago.

The Tampa sports scene is turning to dust. The Lighting need to rebuild. The Rays will be moving because there will be no stadium for them. They wanted to play half of their season in Canada a couple years ago. The Bucks are lining up for trash can duty.

At least I have my old childhood teams, the Phillies and Eagles.

He may have a new deal by the time he comes back, but if he was going to hold out he likely wouldnt have been there at all

He wasn't holding out, but I'm thinking that he lets it be known that the deal need to be done for him to return. 🤷

If youre going to hold out though you do it from the start. I'm sure his agent and the team have been working on a deal for a while. He very likely was waiting for some other QBs to sign first like Lamar did with Hurts, and now that Herbert has the record deal they have a baseline to work with for him

Burrow won't have to hold out, they will pay him without question.

I agree, I was just saying that, if I had to guess, people are in his ear telling him not to come back without a deal. They are saying "this could happen again , but be worse".

I remember memes like this in the buildup to the 2018 SB Patriots Eagles. I think the theme was prehistoric. The Eagles had never won a SB but had won 3 NFL championships before the SB era. Then they beat my guys. 👎👎🙃

The theme that i remember heading into that game was the Pats were 3-0 against the Birds in the SB (Eagles,Seahawks,Falcons)
That was until we all watched Nick Foles flip them the Bird right before catching a touchdown lol. 😎

I look forward to seeing how the 2023 edition of the Denver Broncos do. New coach in Sean Peyton. Will Russell Wilson rebound from his disappointing 2022 performance. I will be very happy if Denver rebounds, plays well and makes the playoffs this coming year.

It's definitely an interesting storyline,.and probably Russell Wilsons last chance to even be considered a top tier QB

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 7,892 ✭✭✭✭✭

I've been a fan of Russell Wilson for years now and last season was really so out of place as far as his production goes. Was it due to playing in a different system on an entirely different team or did it have more to do with Russell himself? Wilson is definitely in position to improve with Sean Payton calling the shots now.

Denver's offense might have lost one of their key contributors in WR Tim Patrick going down with an achilles injury.

Definately did not see the Lions going into KC and winning last night, crazy game. Too many drops from the KC receivers, but I suspect Patrick Mahomes will slap em' around a little and get em' back in line!

I was shocked at the games outcome. those receivers were terrible. Missing Kelce was important to the eventual outcome.

George Brett, Bobby Orr and Terry Bradshaw.

    Great to have football back.

I know I am not in anyone's talent demographic, but I just cannot stand...commercials, and all of the NFL marketing that is seen during games. The way the league and the players are portrayed completely turns me off.

Yeah, I saw that - didn't even make it to game one. No news if he will play or not. Dependson if he can make a full practice today.

I am happy for the Lions. Their fans have suffered enough. Let's hope they can be consistent through the season, and not have a spotty record the way they did last season.

did you bake or grill your wings with the honey bbq?

I tried a honey glaze on the wings before, and even had 'em on the top rack on the grill in an aluminum pan, and they seemed like they became a little too dark, almost to the burning point...

Looking forward to the Cowboys and their excuses to the fans why they didnt make the Super Bowl and "Chip on his shoulder" Baker Mayfield telling the press that he just has to work harder after the losses mount up behind his sub par play 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

And yes I think my Patriots will stink it up this season so I'm not throwing stones in a glass house 😉

This is from a person from Buffalo <—— Me
Set oven at 350. Space wings on baking pan lined with tinfoil and sprayed with Pam. Sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder and pepper on each side. For hotter wings use red pepper also. Bake on each side 30-35 minutes. Depending on size, Smaller wings 25-30
In a bowl melt 3 tablespoons butter. Pour in liberal amounts of Louisiana Hot sauce. For hotter, jalapeño juice or crushed jalapeños.
Cover and shake. Longer in the sauce, hotter they get.
Serve with celery and blue cheese. For you southerners ranch is acceptable.
The reason I bake them is less mess than deep frying and healthier too.

I’m expecting 9 wins from Pittsburgh this year. Pretty sure we don’t have enough weapons to get a ring but trust our coach will get the best out of the team.
Good luck to the rest of you !
