what on earth has happened to this place

I can't speak for everyone else, but as far as me, I have been very distracted by what's going on in Ukraine. As some of you may know, I got a friend that lives in Donetsk, a guy I met online in the card hobby, and I haven't heard from him since this crap began back in February. The Ukrainians recently launched a counteroffensive and they are starting to turn the tide of this thing, Putin cut off the gas supply to Europe, a last ditch desperate move by him, and this thing is starting to come to a head, I think this is the beginning of the end for Putin. I've been helping out on Twitter with spreading information about what's going on over there, anything I can do to help, and that's where I've been a lot lately. Yesterday, videos shot by Ukrainian troops started to come in, videos of Ukrainian troops liberating areas, and it was an amazing thing to see. They are a determined people, and they are really taking the fight to the Russians right now.

They raised the flag, I believe this was in the Kherson area, reminds me a lot of Iwo Jima.

One last video, this is Ukrainian soldiers liberating Kharkiv.

My cousin and I were talking via telephone this afternoon (he's up in Massachusetts) and as usual it was 95% sports. He didn't watch the game last night, or at least didn't watch the second half I should say. Anyway, the four straight SB losses come up. He tells me that back then he had bet the Bills to win the first three years. Then the fourth year comes, and he felt strongly that they wouldn't win, but he also felt he had to stick with them. Then we talked about how hard it would be as a fan. Then I thought of this year. Yes, lots of thens. My point? The Bills better hurry up and capitalize on this QB and win their SB. The MacAttack isn't going to just idle quietly forever. Remember, after all, the Patriots are still on that stairway to seven.

No sir, you're mistake was getting rid of Cam Newton, you don't do that and get away with it. You have until midnight to sign him, or he will bring Gotham to it's knees!

what on earth has happened to this place

I'm here, my long work week has finally ground to a halt.
Rams-Bills pretty much went like I expected, great second half performance by Buffalo.

My lock of the week Sunday is Dallas over Tampa Bay.
The Chiefs might have 6 or 7 receivers with 40+ yards.
Wish I had put money on the Eagles over Lions, that one should be a blow out.

I'm still in shock about Allen running the football up 31-10 with 6 minutes to go in the game lol

My prediction is Allen will not last the season and it will be entirely 50/50 McDermott and Allen's fault

Settle down, Darin. You are just getting into betting and you were going to take Rams over Bills, now Dallas over TB is a lock. Dallas may very well take this game, but a lock? Take it easy, my friend, take it easy. 😂

If this happens it would be bad. I hope it doesn't. The Bills are our enemy but Allen is a really fun player to watch. He is an absolute unit.

It would be too easy to have a lock of the week that was a huge favorite like
the guy on John boy and Billy taking the Broncos over Seahawks for his lock of the week.
At no point was I going to take the Rams over the Bills, don't know where you got that from.

Allen may have the feeling that being as big as he is that he's invincible but he could be in for a surprise.
I couldn't believe all the designed runs for Allen in that game. Your prediction could very well be correct.

I'm definitely not hoping for him to get hurt at all, he is a great player and I wouldn't have any issues with the Bill's winning it BUT if he does get hurt from running too much I won't feel bad, if he gets hurt while running after the game is well in hand like he did the other might I will laugh

This type of thing is why I really disliked Belichick, he got Gronk hurt on a meaningless extra point late in a game that was already decided and this was during the playoffs. He used to leave Brady in on blow outs and it used to piss me off because it's so stupid.

I get that players contracts are built around games played and stats but afterwards game is won you can and should protect the best players

Before the season I said I’d like to see him run less, much less. But he’s been doing this for 4 years now. He’s a competitor and remember he’s just a big kid who loves football. I’d like to see 3 or 4 designated runs and a few scrambled a game but you just can’t kill his drive to win.
The thing that makes him great is the triple threat he brings to every play. How the heck do you defend him. The play before he ran for the touchdown is an example. He could hand off, no he’s running up the middle, no he stops and passes to Diggs just a hair behind him.
If he finishes the season with under 200 yards rushing I’d be ecstatic, but he won’t.

Brady used to stay in every game almost to the end. I always felt that was his decision more than Belichick's. It became "his thing". I feel like it was representative of how he is as a player and competitor, therefore it was necessary. Yes, it scared me. But I thought it was pretty cool seeing him stay in unnecessarily when most other QBs would be out. I think that line of thinking carried over to the team and made guys a lot less likely to put up their hand and ask out of a drive. There were so many little things about how Brady operated that spilled over positively affecting the rest of the guys.

I won't be surprised if Tampa does beat Dallas but I think Brady will have to come up big for it to happen,
probably at least 4 TD passes. And it is Brady so it could happen but I'm hoping he's rusty from missing
a lot of the pre season.
I do think Dallas is coming into the season underrated but time will tell.
And of course I know you didn't mean any offense, we have to poke fun at each other around
here from time to time or it would get kind of boring. I'll admit it does look weird
having Dallas over Tampa as my lock of the week I could have at least picked a sure thing but that's too easy. :p

I'm sitting in the kitchen. My wife and daughter are cooking dinner. They are not into football. At all. I say something like tomorrow's the big day. wanna hear some of the storylines? I'm obviously messing around. They take the bait. I can tell they they are just playing coy, not even looking at me as I speak. Talking to each other as if they don't even hear me. I start with a doozy. The Mayfield revenge tour against the Browns. I'm already losing them. I tell my wife she might have seen Baker, in all of those insurance commercials with his wife. I instinctively reach for my phone to show her one. She says don't show me. I don't want to see. But I think I know him. He's the one with the curly hair and all of the furniture? I give up and write this.

I have a bad feeling about the Bucks chances in the Cowboys game tonight. The Bucks are counting on too many guys who are over the hill with Brady in a state of distraction at 45 years of age.

It will be interesting to see how well the Patriots do against Miami. The Dolphins have always been tough on the Pats, especially in their home game, against the Pats, even when the Pats were a super team.

As for my third favorite team, if the Eagles lose to the Lions, it will be another of many long years on the hungry line for the Birds.

NEW ENGLAND CANNOT PLAY WELL IN MIAMI!

You can carve that statement in stone. It’s 10-0.

Time to switch to New Orleans - Atlanta. The New England game is over.

    NOW IT’S 17 - 0.

The argument is settled. Was it Brady or Belichick who made New England great? It was Brady.

The Panthers should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for this pathetic, garbage, worthless effort today at home.

Bill Belichick has become the Horacio Gates of Patriots football. This Miami game looks like the Battle of Canden. Like Tom Landry was at the end, the league has passed him by.
