I’m going through a change of collecting habits. I’m going from buying everything I can and having enough mini collections for now.
Started working again part time and for some reason I’m just interested in stacking cash. Perhaps I’m maturing and becoming a better collector.
So the empty cup and no new coins. 😉🙀🦫
I'm a late riser today. Here's the coin I want to share today. 1919 was my father’s birth year. He fought in World War 2 and was a pilot. He worked for NASA when he retired. He also got me interested in coins at a very young age. So, the year 1919 is very special to me. Here's the buffalo nickel from my collection to represent that year.
Happy hunting, Joe
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
Good Saturday morning, all!
Being the organization nerd that I am, I decided to start organizing my collection into groups and then store them into different colored PCGS boxes. Each group/type will be color coded by box so I know which box a certain coin is in.
I thought I would share a sample of my gold color box which contains….well, gold coins.
Enjoying some old gold with Newman’s Own Breakfast Blend medium roast.
A standard 8 piece type set in this box that I have posted before, plus a few extra goodies.
Couldn’t resist as these dang reverse proof Anahi’s are never cheap. This little guy was only $30 from bullion exchange, who I’ve had wonderful luck with.
Coffee by Kroger 😁. Actually quite nice.😉🙀🦫. Beaver sez I’m just trying to justify being cheap 😁

I do the same thing- a box of gold, a box of CBH, a box of Morgans, a type set box, an NGC box awaiting crossover, a box awaiting CAC submission, etc.
I'm sitting here with my cup of coffee on a Sunday morning weighing the evidence suggesting this coin is an unattributed late die state 1855/54 overdate half. I give it about a 60% chance that it is. The seller doesn't accept returns so the stakes are high if I'm wrong.
I decided to buy it and thankfully was the only bidder (reduces risk in terms of cost). Other bidders apparently ignored this coin and are instead chasing the unattributed, brightly dipped earlier die state specimen also up for auction. I'll report the outcome when the coin arrives. Hopefully by "coffee time" next Sunday.
Amusing to revisit this post. I was pretty certain it was a 55/54 but the seller claimed he lost the coin and gave me a refund. Bitter coffee!
Can't have coffee without coins to look at. Here's my last purchase.
Good morning to all. Just finished a cup of instant coffee (gasp.) Though a cup of Folgers is better than an empty cup.
Here is a recent pick up from @coinsarefun
Silver Rosa American copy commissioned by Connecticut banker Alfred Robinson and struck by Joseph H Merriam of Boston around 1860.
A nice addition of a rare piece. Deserves a better cup of Joe to compliment its history!

Today we are enjoying Folgers “Black Silk” and celebrating with my grandson the joy of life providing when given a chance 😁
Been looking for a 64 Kennedy to fill in the type set. Months, but no luck. We’re picky about clean cheeks.
Bought a reverse proof asahi Buffalo and the seller sent my grandson a gift. You bet ya. Nice clean 64. Amazing 😉🙀🦫
One of my favorite overstrikes. Nice two profiles on the obverse with very flashy reverse. Very nice to see Morgan's hair imprint on Peace Liberty's neck and the Eagle's wings in the background.
Not a coin, but here's an interesting piece I was just looking over. As an infantryman, I picked up this poker chip off the ground in Baghdad early on in 2003.
One of the coolest things i brought home from the Iraq War: Palms Casino, Baghdad. 1 Dinar
Bringing back memories over a cup of Joe. I think I was the only soldier that actually drank coffee in that heat. The Army used to put little packets of Folgers instant coffee in the MREs. You could just throw them right into the water bottles, which were hot as coffee anyway.

That’s such a beautiful coin. Pricey, when I last checked, not for the faint of heart, cost wise 😉🙀🦫
Nah, this was just a few hundred $$. No biggie.
I guess it’s all relative. Couple hundred bucks is big money to me.
I wish that wasn’t the case but I’m just an old pensioner raising a 9 year old grandson. Not that I don’t dump several hundred now and again but still a chunk of change around the farm. 😉🙀🦫

Gorgeous example! Beautiful!
This one pulled up this week. Way more monochromatic, but a nice greenish-grey-tan

The above goes with my copper example from the Eric P. Newman Collection.
I love when even serious coin collectors like Newman, Eliasberg, Partrick, etc let their interests wander into tokens and medals.

Just happened to admire Dan Carr’s
Nice!! You’re well on your way to a beautifully toned 1895 proof type set!

Got a spare 95 Morgan?
Haha only got the one laying around here somewhere…….
One of my favorite overstrikes. Nice two profiles on the obverse with very flashy reverse. Very nice to see Morgan's hair imprint on Peace Liberty's neck and the Eagle's wings in the background.
Todd: Love that 1823. She looks like she would have beautifully deep colors in hand. Well struck too! Love her.
