Coffee and coins on a Saturday morning 😉🙀🦫
Today, I shout out to gumby1234. Thank you for all your help in finding all the 46 - 64 Roosies.( as advertised in his tag line)
There’s one toner(63) that I had, the rest were the amazing work of gumby! He found the most beautiful bU++ examples 😎 and was very patient with me. I really needed a little guidance and he was very helpful. Thanks buddy. James and the boys 😉🙀🦫
Here is a most interesting piece that I love to study over a cup of Joe: HT-201A Howell Works Garden token struck over an 1820 Large Cent, PCGS XF40 ex. Q. David Bowers
I just love this enigmatic piece! It has a lot of local history for me and is the only known example struck over a cent. The details of the undertype really pop under a loupe. Oh, the stories it could tell!

This morning I decided to give a little attention to some dogs in the collection. They really don’t have a place in my collection, but I like to hang on to my gold. Enjoyed them with a cup of Newman’s Own dark roast.
This week I took Monday off, and drove out to Monterey for breakfast and a whole day of coins and friends with Lance @lkeigwin and Blake @ebriker . For those who don't know Blake, he's a humble and affable guy from Florida, and he has an amazing collection of Pre Turban (Flowing Hair) Bust Halves, including some R7 and R8 coins. He brought a box of 30 for show and tell, and to have Lance photograph over the week.
Suffice it to say, it was a great day to be a coin geek in that room!
Blake also brought me a present ... and I am using it from now on for my "Saturday morning coffee with coins" musings.
Some of you may know I am an Associate Member of the BHNC, but as I was invited to be with the club since last year, this cup pre-dates my time there. Blake had an extra one and wanted me to have it. How cool is that?!

Oh yeah ... coin! Here's one of the latest to my group!
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”
I'm late to the party. Slept in for the first time in what feels like years.
Now getting a cup of the finest Java my cupboards hold and having a little hobby time on this rainy day in Jersey.
Here's a medal struck during the American Civil War featuring our two greatest Presidents, the father of our country and the man who held it together. Lincoln/Washington medal struck by Jos. Merriam. PCGS MS65RB ex. Baker, Pennsylvania Historical Society
It developed some really great colors over the 100 years of cabinet storage in the Pennsylvania Historical Society. I was lucky to win a few pieces in the great auction 3 years back.
Enjoy the day, lads.

This showed up and to my surprise it was in new ( maybe opened once or twice) packaging and was way more than I was expecting 😉🙀🦫
Ha ha. 😂. Up side down pictures and multiple cups. ( I better get a second pot o Joe going 😂😎
Spent the day in Charleston, SC yesterday. Lots of fun art galleries and bought a couple of pieces. Came home and this was waiting to be picked up this morning. Enjoying it's great strike and delicate toning. Just posting the reverse today.
Here is one of my favorites to examine over a cup of coffee: 1861 "I AM READY" Patriotic token with All Seeing Eye reverse, PCGS MS65RB
This one is so nice, I had to buy it twice!
I purchased it directly from Q. David Bowers as he began deaccessioning his enormous Civil War token collection which began 5 or 6 decades ago. I sold it to a forum member to fund another purchase and had instant regrets. So I wound up buying it back a few months later.
Just love the theme. Pilgrim decked out in patriotic garbs, stars on his shirt, proudly declaring "I am ready" (for war.)
But no one is ever ready for war. Indeed the citizens of this country had no idea of the tragedy that lay before them. One that would last four years and send over a half million men to their graves.
How could anyone truly be ready for that?

Picked up a silver.999, 5 ouncer very reasonable and added a dollar page to my type set album. Needed a place for random Morgan’s and Peace Dollars. Coffee ofcourse. A foot of snow 🤨. It’s just about done snowing 🌨😉🙀🦫
Amazing it is still snowing in parts of the country. Sunny day here in Jersey, pushing 80 degrees.
Coffee and coins just naturally go with inclement weather, so enjoy the day guys!

Have coffee, but no coins to show this week ... although ... while on vacation my good friends @ebriker@lkeigwin and @drddm helped convince me to spend a bunch on three newps that will be incoming after I return.
I had more important things to attend to this weekend.
My first grandbaby, who actually, like me, really appreciates big Busts!!
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”
It was a busy week. I look at the Classic Head QE and still can't believe I was quick enough to buy it. Then there are the 3 Double Eagles from Daniel Carr. Anxious times waiting for delivery but the group of all 70's made it.

This is one of my favorite coins. I love the color. It’s the only Bust half I have.
LOVE IT!! Great looking coin!
You should really contact PCGS and have them fix the TrueView page though!
