There are plenty of similarities with the ’59 set. First – and most noticeable – is the fact that team cards (that serve as checklists) are slotted in the same numbers as in 1959. So are the combo player cards – and there are several of them. They also place similar players in the same numbers as the ’59 set. For instance . . . Brewer was a promising career until he injured his pitching arm. No. 60: Andy Pettitte and Bob Turley, starting pitchers for the Yankees No. 80 Grady Sizemore and Minnie Minoso, sluggers for the Indians No. 88 Clay Buchholz and Herb Score, two young pitchers who had immediate success. No. 90 Hideki Matsui and Bill Skowron, two Mooses for the Yankees No. 100 Jack Cust and Bob Cerv, two big bats for the Athletics No. 102 Moises and Felipe Alou. Nuf Ced. No. 115 Ryan Garko and Mickey Vernon, key first basemen for the Indians No. 150 Albert Pujols and Stan Musical, one in, other headed into Hall of Fame for the Cardinals There are plenty more. Such as 176 is Preston Wilson, in ’59 it was Preston Ward, 180 Jorge Posada and Yogi Berra, 220 Mike Lowell and Frank Malzone of the Red Sox,, 300 Chase Utley and Richie Ashburn of the Phillies, 400 Manny Ramirez and Jackie Jensen of the Red Sox There are numerous others. But earning the Frank Thomas Award this year is No. 49 Bill Hall of the Brewers. In 1959, it was Bill Hall of the Pirates
OK, I've sorted everything. Collation this year is actually pretty decent. I'm six cards from a "master" set (Julio Lugo, 4 All-Stars and a NAP), which is much better than last year's case results. If anyone's interested, my list of probable and maybe SPs is above somewhere. The first list is comprised of cards I either only pulled one of (62 cards), or in the case of the five base set cards I need, didn't pull one at all. The second list contains cards that I pulled only two of, so I'm assuming the rest of the SPs are in there somewhere.
For anyone who may later give a rip, here's my wantlist. I'll list chrome and relics later when I wake up from a nap.
285 - Chad Billingsley (for my Dodger set) 457 - Dodgers team card (for my Dodger set) 457 - Dodgers team card (for my team card set) 477 - Julio Lugo 482 - Justin Morneau All Star 483 - Orlando Hudson All Star 489 - Ken Griffey Jr. All Star 500 - Justin Verlander All Star NAP13 - Josh Beckett
Anyone who pulls relics, please contact me - I will be making the relic set my highest priority.
I had purchased my case from aaee88 on Feb 3rd with deliveries within 30 days close of auction.I realize its a dead horse at best at this point .Do I have to wait a certain time before I can file a claim with Pay Pal? In all my years on Ebay I have never been hoodwnked by a seller as far as delivering the goods.
Ok, I just started my case+one box break. seven packs into the odd box and my first impression is that many of these card fronts are cut off center, mostly Top To Bottom, short at the top, long on the bottom.... No excuse in this day of modern hi-tech darn those guys.... Charlie G
Anybody see the new wrinkle, unadvertised paintings by Perez. There is a David Wright card that's just been put on EBay. I would link it, but I'd a tech-idiot
Interesting, to say the least. I wonder what the story is with it? Is there a Rowand with a Giants uni? What other recent signings didn't get airbrushed in time?
edit: I gotta say, I'm just not a fan of Perez' work. Not flattering at all.
<< <i>Anybody see the new wrinkle, unadvertised paintings by Perez. There is a David Wright card that's just been put on EBay. I would link it, but I'd a tech-idiot >>
I'm going to redo the checklist, once we know how many Perez paintings, which cards are black blacks and SPs. As soon as the info is released, i'll get on it.
I'm new to this Heritage world but have a question. I see a black refractor of an Alex Rios on Ebay with a starting bid of $50.00 is this normal? Are they really that rare? Thanks
I am making the case that based on Geordie's rip, that ALL the SP's are #s 426-500 (I am really hoping for this).
From 426-500 geordie reports: 5 cards he did not pull 42 cards that he pulled once. 24 cards he pulled twice.
Thats a total of 90 sp's. There are 4 cards that he did not list...maybe he got 3 each of them? 440, 460, 476, 478....or maybe they are really non-sp's.
If they were sp's that would mean he got 102 sp's in his case, which is not too far off of the expected pull rate of 96 sp's.
My local guy just sent me an e-mail letting me know that my case is in, so I'll hopefully be ripping tonight (I'm on the West Coast so I'm still some time away from it). Geordie, you are absolutely the man for keeping us all living vicariously through you all through the night. Great stuff. My relics have your name written all over them.
It sure seems like the first mover advantage is working well for sellers of singles on eBay so far - a quick look at open auctions shows that some singles are selling for pretty solid prices despite the fact that the SP list may not be known...

Jim - above #426, I pulled singles of every card except: 2: 427 428 429 430 435 437 442 444 446 448 451 452 458 459 461 462 473 474 480 481 487 493 495 (This could very well make them short prints) 3: 439 4: 476 478 5: 440 6: 460
I'm thinking that at the very least, cards I pulled 3 or more of are not SPs, unless I just had an incrediblly lucky run of Tom Gorzelanny and John Smoltz.
Don't think I'm going to get my original cases. I've offered $1400 for 2 delivered so hopefully this will work out! There are quite a few listed on Ebay right now.
Now I wish I would've gotten my 'backup' cases. Hopefully the refund will come in a timely manner.

Very nice indeed Kurt! I have a pretty good feeling that the meeting that's on my calendar from 3-5 is going to take place in significantly less time than 2 hours...
<< <i>I have only opened two packs, but did find one correction from the checklist that I have. The CL. has card # 440 as Tim Hudson. The card which I have is Smoltz, # 400. Perhaps someone has already posted this. Craig in Ohio >>
Craig - Tim Hudson is #40. I have him as a potential SP, but only because I pulled a single card of his. That may just be bad collation on the part of that particular card.
Well, I just cracked a box of this stuff. Nothing special that Im aware of- I got (2) Matt Cain and (1) Brian Bannister chromes, 1-Arod, 1-Jeter, 1-Ellsbury base cards, Richie Sexson jersey card, Antartica card, Buddy Holly card and a few Sport thrills -Manny, Arod.
I got ZERO clue of SP's or anything else for that matter!
Nam812 has first dibs on the Chromes if he needs them, if not I dont mind sending them to someone who can use them.
My case will be here early next week. Couldn't wait that long, so I had to scratch the itch and buy 4 boxes from the local shop. I feel like a druggie that NEEDS his next fix.
Now, I just have to wait an hour and a half for my dad to get here so we can commence ripping !!

Isringhausen is a black back. The Kaz is an SP (per Geordie's list) and was the 7th card down (starting from the end of the pack where the cards are face up). By the way, Geordie, I'll echo everyone so far in a big THANK YOU !! for the work put in so far.
The other 6 are just base cards. I love the look of the rookie card. It was nice to get an Oriole in the 1st pack. Mr. My-Bullpen-Loses-My-Lead-In-Every-Start, Jeremy Guthrie.
I'm not sure about the 110 vs 88 card set. I'm thinking there are 88 black back variations that can also be found in green back and there are 22 additional cards that are ONLY available in black back. Not sure, we'll find out more when everyone starts ripping.

Ah, good idea. I was a bit confused because the sell sheet makes it sound like the black background would be a variation on the front of the card (similar to the 2002 set) instead of the print on the back of the card. Should be fun to find out though!
There is a source on blowout's forums, a Topps employee, who told friends on the boards (FOB), that this year Topps CUTBACK on its Topps Heritage print. There are actually less cards than last year!!!!
