Official NFL HOF autograph set thread???

I would love to see both of their collections, but your right who needs that many Thorpe autos. There have been two PSA/DNA Thorpe autos on ebay just this last week that sold for $1400 and $1000. I couldn't justify spending 6X what the autograph is worth.

Seriously, how many Jim Thorpe autographs does one person need? I think it's silly to say the least.

I think you're best bet finding a Thorpe auto is to buy an auto'd 1933 Sports Kings. I bet you could find one cheaper (although there aren't many out there) than a cut auto. For some reason, people go crazy over cut autographs.

I agree. But we also see the same with people that collect HOF Rc cards for example. I hate it when I am trying to pick up a card to only to see someone who already has one or two swooping in at the last second to pick up another. But then again this can also be a business for some people. But for the Thorpe guys not too many people will pay that much for that card. I put a decent bid on the last cut that sold on ebay but was still out bid.

It just depends. If dealing with rare/expensive autographs, then definately have them PSA/DNA authenticated. If cheaper/easier to find, I don't think there's a huge differerence b/t raw and graded.

I'm just curious why you bought the Turk Edwards? You just finished showing us the Turk Edwards cut that Knuckles made for you...why go after the 1955 All American? To be honest, the cut you have is a lot nicer (bolder) autograph than the 1955 All American that you bought.

wow that went fast. yesterday i did my normal searches, he must have listed last night.

as for why reese might buy it maybe he isnt as convinced as he has said that PSA will allow him to add his cuts to the set. yes they will slab them but maybe he is worried that they might not take them for the set. any other reasons he will have to speak for himself.

everyone needs to know that from here on out this is going to be cut throat. just like with the marshall auto. reese posted the link he but i had seen it earlier in the day than that. what i have learned now what i need to do when an item is posted is to try to immediately email the seller to have him end the auction early. it going to be who ever swoops in earliest will get the prize. that is unless we all agreee to let the auction run its course and then its whoever bids the highest.

As far as I'm concerned, people can do whatever they want as long as they're not purposesly bidding up another registry member or something else shady. Reese did nothing wrong, I was just surprised that he bought it considering he just spent a mint buying the cut and having Knuckles make the card for him.

I'm just really steamed that CJ has blocked me - I was trying to buy the card for 20 minutes before it was bought...just very, very frustrating.

Hey guys,

I am not pretty certain that my Knuckles cuts will not allowed in the registry. My brother actually called me and told me he found the 55 Edwards. He said it looked good so he grabbed it for me. The signature looks good to me, but I have been wrong in the past. Hopefully it will pass!

Its just cards that are only PSA/DNA authenticated no grade. They come up as a 1 in the set. I wish I could say that I had a Marshall to add but you have that one. At the present there are no others in the works. Probably wont hear much from me until I land one of those hard to come by cards that we are all searching for, not before thats for sure. It will be a tough fight.

Good luck on your grades. What cards did you submit back in Oct? PSA has now officially lost 2 orders - 1 of Franks and 1 of mine. Both orders were slabbed PSA/DNA authentic cards that were being submitted for grading. I am absolutely screwed if the order is lost as I had an Al Davis that I listed the cost as $75 (so I could submit it at the $4.50 pricing). Unreal.

Since it's supposed to be a cut signature, there should be less risk to this type of redemption. Leaf probably hasn't made the card yet. It wouldn't make sense to include the card in the product if they didn't already have the signatures. But than again, these are card companies

who knows what excuse they might come up with.

So, Leaf took a $10 check, cut the sig and slapped it on a card and now its worth $400+++?? Absolutely crazy. Reason #1 why I don't collect cut autographs, except for autographs that are impossible to obtain otherwise.

Remember Greg, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay

I think cut autos offer a great opportunity to obtain autos (in card form) of deceased players. The card companies could do a better job of presenting them (ala Knuckles). I'm not crazy about the sticker autos though. I know it makes it more cost effective to obtain autos for players this way, but I think there are enough opprtunities and venues were you can get a gathering of players to hand sign a card. For veteran or retired players it should be even easier.

I was shocked by the price, considering the value of a Shaughnessy's autograph. I thought it might end around $100. The Donruss website originally said the print run was 4, however now it looks like Shaughnessy has been removed from the checklist.

Thats a good point. If they don't have the signatures in hand when the product is released, they probably should not insert redemptions for them. From searching ebay for the Leaf Limited cuts, I know off the top of my head that Ray Flaherty, Ace Parker, Tony Canadeo, and Shaughnessy were all redemption cards.

Why can't they have cut autos for the guys we all need!

Well, the Turk Edwards showed up today. I am very happy with the signature and overall condition. Off to PSA....

Nice Reese - I hope it passes PSA/DNA. My Marshall and Neale still aren't checked in at PSA. It was delivered on December 15th and still hasn't been entered.

Yeah, I hope it passes. Good luck again with Neale and Marshall. I had a $13/5 day order that arrived at PSA on Dec 11 and was not entered until today. I think they are running a little slow because of the holidays.
