Maybe a profit of $350 with all the eBay PayPal fees. Not to mention registered insured another $75-$90. Margins are slim if I am correct so more in-line what dealers are offering.

pf70collector, I agree with you calculations. I calculated about the same net at a fleabay selling price of $4500 for an uncertified 'raw' Gold flowing hair. Getting a slab takes time and has a cost- and risk if it is 'lost in the mail'. Also some flebay sellers end up paying tax to the feds for cumulative sales over $5K.

Time is of the essence with these flips while the 'iron is hot'.

Right now the hot item buzz is the pre-sale privy Gold piece.

Anyway, for those that have a vehicle and/or allied selling venue for selling coins that may expedite and economize on expenses, more power to ya!!

A little more profit than you guys are quoting. With an ebay store the FVF drops considerably with expensive items - your talking about fees in the range of 5.0% so a FV fee of around $235. Shipping is expensive fully insured probably $60 USPS Registered brings you right around $300 fees + shipping.

    $4,700 sale nets you $4,400 - $3,640 cost = $760.00 profit or ~21%.

I was estimating 16% eBay and PayPal fees.
Without store below $7500 it is 13.5% eBay fee
You are correct in your estimation

There are no separate paypal fees.

Anyone seeking a $5000 coin who doesn't pay $25 for a store for a month deserves to lose money.

    CoinWorld PR......

Monday Morning Brief for Nov. 18, 2024: Auction impact

By Jeff Starck , Coin World

    Published: Nov 18, 2024, 7 AM

A quantity of 230 privy-marked Flowing Hair gold dollars will be sold in a December auction by the U.S. Mint.
Images courtesy of the United States Mint.

The march of modern numismatics into irrelevance continues, with the United States Mint’s announcement that it would issue 230 Flowing Hair gold dollars with a special privy mark, with all of these coins to be sold at auction.

Instead of blindly distributing these coins throughout the mintage in a random manner, like the U.S. Mint did with the Flowing Hair silver medal with “230” privy mark in October, the Nov. 7 announcement spelled another milestone in the development of the modern U.S. coin market.

The details of this Dec. 12 auction remain to be announced (Editor's Note: Stack's Bowers announced on Nov.15 it will be conducting the auction), but suffice to say that the U.S. Mint will capture the market share from these coins, instead of letting collectors and dealers siphon off profits in the middle.

The United States Mint is probably already the largest “coin dealer” in the world. Its auctions, er, actions are only sliding it further into the commercial realm. But this is nothing new, globally, anyway.

Could add to bag but as soon as I hit checkout it was already gone. Sucks that it doesn’t even stay in the bag until the next day anymore. If you had one in the bag already that was usually a big help for the next day.

In your case, dreams could have come true.
But, as you mentioned, the year 2026 is going to have a lot of 250th anniversary Mint issues for sure.

Don't bother. It's sketchy and questionable since he will not answer any questions about that.

There are still ways to check on the site.

Unless you're getting the data surreptitiously, they know that the data is available and have chosen to do so. If it's in the website code or an API there should be nothing to get blocked. I don't think we're asking for details or instructions. A top level explanation would be nice.

I was just getting ready to buy one at Pinehurst in 70 FDOI for under $4,900 and they upped the price like $250 extra. Not sure why. Maybe the TV show pricing helped them get greedier.

Good news for raw coin sales. That opens up a little more space to sell raws for just under 5,000.

The collectors on this forum realize that this latest mint issue will never be a rarity. But many US coin series possess key dates that could be described in a similar fashion. However, I'm sure there are 20K collectors in the US that would be able to afford this issue. It's a market that will be driven by supply & demand. I just wonder what the monetary threshold will be in the secondary market?

Could add to bag but as soon as I hit checkout it was already gone. Sucks that it doesn’t even stay in the bag until the next day anymore. If you had one in the bag already that was usually a big help for the next day.

Mine used to until the new website. Now it shows your bag is empty as soon as the stock for the day runs out.

I've had one in the bag for 3 days now. They tell you to remove it when it's unavailable as you would be unable to order anything with an unavailable item in your bag.

What you posted is the way it used to always be for me too. No more unfortunately. Not sure if anybody else’s bag removes it now too or if I’m the only unlucky one.

    91 today.

    Any surface on Monday?

Could add to bag but as soon as I hit checkout it was already gone. Sucks that it doesn’t even stay in the bag until the next day anymore. If you had one in the bag already that was usually a big help for the next day.

Mine used to until the new website. Now it shows your bag is empty as soon as the stock for the day runs out.

    Man, that sucks.

I ordered mine the minute of release. I used the lowest priced shipping. Shipped from TX today.

Same here. I can't believe it's coming USPS Ground advantage, $100 insurance included. Probably in a bubble mailer. I wonder how many will disappear before delivery? They could have at least sprung for Priority mail!

I received mine today. Has anyone tried opening their capsule? I don't know if I'm being too gentle, but the darn thing seems super glued shut. (Just using fingernail and fingers) There seems to be a bit of foreign debris inside and would like to clean it out, or should I just leave it be?

I got her out, but I split my left thumb fingernail being super cautious.

You have to keep working around the capsule until she pops.

I do NOT recommend using any tool to aid you.

@Goldbully - I appreciate the advice. I'll try again in the morning after a nail trimming. :#
