pf70collector, I agree with you calculations. I calculated about the same net at a fleabay selling price of $4500 for an uncertified 'raw' Gold flowing hair. Getting a slab takes time and has a cost- and risk if it is 'lost in the mail'. Also some flebay sellers end up paying tax to the feds for cumulative sales over $5K.

A little more profit than you guys are quoting. With an ebay store the FVF drops considerably with expensive items - your talking about fees in the range of 5.0% so a FV fee of around $235. Shipping is expensive fully insured probably $60 USPS Registered brings you right around $300 fees + shipping.

$4,700 sale nets you $4,400 - $3,640 cost = $760.00 profit or ~21%.

I was estimating 16% eBay and PayPal fees.
Without store below $7500 it is 13.5% eBay fee

A quantity of 230 privy-marked Flowing Hair gold dollars will be sold in a December auction by the U.S. Mint.

The march of modern numismatics into irrelevance continues, with the United States Mint’s announcement that it would issue 230 Flowing Hair gold dollars with a special privy mark, with all of these coins to be sold at auction.

Instead of blindly distributing these coins throughout the mintage in a random manner, like the U.S. Mint did with the Flowing Hair silver medal with “230” privy mark in October, the Nov. 7 announcement spelled another milestone in the development of the modern U.S. coin market.

The details of this Dec. 12 auction remain to be announced (Editor's Note: Stack's Bowers announced on Nov.15 it will be conducting the auction), but suffice to say that the U.S. Mint will capture the market share from these coins, instead of letting collectors and dealers siphon off profits in the middle.

The United States Mint is probably already the largest “coin dealer” in the world. Its auctions, er, actions are only sliding it further into the commercial realm. But this is nothing new, globally, anyway.

Good news for raw coin sales. That opens up a little more space to sell raws for just under 5,000.

I was just getting ready to buy one at Pinehurst in 70 FDOI for under $4,900 and they upped the price like $250 extra. Not sure why. Maybe the TV show pricing helped them get greedier.

Or maybe they had to pay more to acquire them. Or maybe their 70 yield was lower or maybe...

Mine used to until the new website. Now it shows your bag is empty as soon as the stock for the day runs out.

I've had one in the bag for 3 days now. They tell you to remove it when it's unavailable as you would be unable to order anything with an unavailable item in your bag.
