Just won this one this morning. Looks like it could be high grade...
USAF (Ret) 1974 - 1994 - The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. Remembering RickO, a brother in arms.
Not high-dollar stuff, but certainly not low-end junque, either.
The 1915 Buff is a 63. The 1883-O Morgan is a 64. There was also an MS66 War nickel. I traded two silver ancients for the three US coins. One of the ancients was slabbed and nice, the other was raw and rather “meh”.
I just purchased this Discovery and wanted to share it in this thread.
It is currently NOT FOR SALE.

Yesterday in “Saturday morning coffee with coins”, I analyzed an auction loss I had this past week for a 65 grade - this date. This piece is a nice one & more than $5k less than winning the 65. This grade was more of my target anyway.
My early Walker countdown is now 12/8. Of the 8 needed, only the 1920 is available. All the others are tough: 1918-S, 1919-D, 1919-S, 1920-D, 1920-S, 1921-D, 1921-S. It’s going to be a long road & already is a real challenge.
Pop 3/2. The 1894/1894 DD IHC is very popular even among non Indian collectors. With a total pop of 31 RD’s in all grades, it’s nearly impossible to find one with full RD color! I pretty much don’t collect RD IHC’s any longer, but had to make an exception for this one!

Saw this and it reminded me of the red dress scene from The Matrix.
If you decide to move on at some point send me a pm.

I hope I'm not misremembering but I think it was an intentional choice so that estimating when a coin was graded would become impossible.
Covering their tracks eh?

So, this was a bizarre auction win for me and may be recognizable to some. I initially bid on this coin with the intent of juicing it up to help get it nearer where it should be for a fellow forum member. Then, I fell in love with it, and in bidding to my absolute maximum reconcilable amount, I broke multiple rules I've set for myself. I'm very happy I did. It's an absolutely excellent Merc.
Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.
A bunch of slot fillers from Great Collections, and some recently graded NGC coins. They're not technically new purchases, but they were once, and have been sitting and sitting waiting for enough of the right mix to make a submission. While they're not big money by any means, I'm most proud of cracking the Florida quarter and SBA from ANACs slabs and getting the same grades.

The TV is “acceptable” but details don’t show nearly as well as the coin does in hand. Strange.
1) head is nearly full - satisfactory plus (not picked up well in the tv);
2) branch hand thumb is good; about 1/4 of the stem split shows;
3) usual center weakness typical for the issue also reflected in the skirt lines;
4) trailing leg of the eagle has pretty good detail considering the center weakness (this may be the weakest aspect of the tv).
Overall, a nice 64+. This is now 13/20 of the early Walkers I’m trying to put together. The remaining 7 are tough (1918-S, 1919-S, 1920-D, 1920-S) & then some (1919-D, 1921-D, 1921-S).
eBay purchase last week. Sorry, crappiest pictures on the thread! But, it fills a tough hole in my series. Still examining. Not real happy with the hairlines. Doubt the pictures will help anyone much. Opinions welcomed.

The S-13 is a non FS variety not part of Registry. I liked the coin due to its eye appeal & interesting aspects that give it a high coolness factor. I’m going to post more about it in the FE thread.

Seller's pics. Looks like nice toning and very clean. I hope to submit it at some point and get a MS66. If I do then it was a really good deal.
