When it rains, it pours. Just reached a deal & bought this yesterday. It was through HA’s “make offer to seller” program. I didn’t exactly lowball an offer, but the seller accepted to my surprise. I’ve had exceptionally good fortune in the past with this program. The seller has owned this piece for 20+ years & I think that may be part of the reason they accepted my under market offer. I’ll be sure to post better, more detailed pics when I have the coin in hand.

The coin has very sharp detail & great eye appeal. This one is #16 of the 20 I need for my early Walker quest. Remaining are the 1919-D, 1920-D, 1920-S & 1921-S. Right now, I have no plans to acquire the “later 6” to complete the Registry set. The 4 above are more than enough to keep me busy for awhile. Plus, there’s the bank account, now in maximum pain!

    Off to CAC?

Sold by a seller who deals mostly with pawnshop type merchandise and listed only under "coin folders" on eBay.
This coin lot hasn't arrived yet and the photos were poor but here is the list of coins included in a Whitman United States small denomination type set album:

    Auction Description:
    (Seller's wording)

    Coins included:

    1806 - half cent

    1798 - large cent

    1893 - small cent

    1866 - two cent piece

    1865 - three cent (nickel)

    1853 - half dime (silver)

    Five cent pieces (nickel) - 1863, 1912, 1913, 1995 and a silver 1945 nickel

    1898 - dime (silver)

    Dimes - 1942, 1957 (silver)

Twenty cent piece - 1875 (silver)

    Quarter Dollars - 1854, 1876, 1902, 1926, 1934 (all silver)

The Whitman album is nice and these usually sell for $20. by itself.
    The BIN was $64.99

I should have this by Tuesday.

I had cherry picked this 1847/1846 seated half dollar off of an eBay BIN today and owned it for a few hours before the seller informed me that he had to rescind the deal and refund my money. The classic case of winning something on eBay and having enough folks message the seller after the sale about it to tip them off. Oh well, that is how cherry picking goes, it doesn't count if you fumble at the goal line.

That's too bad. That's a nice, clear example of the overdate as well.

    Interesting Chicago ANA pick up!
Purchased from John Sullivan, error expert for PCGS.
    It's the
    1952 Jefferson "Split Planchet"
    PCGS AU

    Here's the interesting part.
I have the identical error in raw form!
Same year, same pattern, same weight. 2.59!
This is why I just had to buy it.
    Here's mine.

It even has the similar raised portion above Monticello's roof!

    Amazing!
    TrueView

    Here's the next strange occurrence.
The TrueView pic of the reverse, is rotated?
It's not rotated in the slab???

Joey, is there any possibility that these are fake? If they do indeed have the same pattern, it seems like a very odd occurrence.

It’s just a form of “bleed through” from the obverse side of the coin. On the reverse side of both coins, you’re seeing a ghost of an upside-down Jefferson. Lots of split after-strike errors will show this effect.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the information.
