    Dang nice score.
I'm assuming that the 805 marked piece is vintage?
80.5% silver yet still marked sterling.
Not that you would melt that piece, but in a pot with 925 sterling scraps who would know.
Any jewlery made from the molten metal I would assume impurities removed?? Would be closer to pure 999.
I ask because I know of a guy that is always looking for scraps for his silver jewelry.

I haven't seen a silver piece in a thrift store in many years.

"805" is perhaps the model number or style number of that piece, not the fineness ?

Yes it is vintage and as @dcarr said, it is sterling .925 silver. The 805 is the model number for the piece and not the fineness of the piece.

    Never heard of 805 sterling.
Always known sterling to represent 92.5%

    And then there was this?

Not to mention the 925 marked china stuff that sticks to a magnet.

Never of heard 805 as a fineness for silver so not sure if that website knows what’s it’s talking about. I know 800 stuff is vintage mainly from Germany and 835 from the Netherlands.

I never touch the stuff from China. Some of that stuff sticks to a magnet because it’s been nickel or rhodium plated to give a whiter look but to many false marks to justify buying any of it.

    https://www.silvercollection.it/MERIDENBRITANNIACO.html

Scroll down to the year 1895 in the company's history to see hallmark.
Hallmark is Meriden Brittania Company. Sterling. 805 I think is the pattern.

I have to make the rounds of the pawn shops, junk shops again. Antique shops will often have Sterling, but usually priced out of reach. Cheers, RickO

    That's great.
I'm trying to work out a deal on a Bunker Hill bar that has odd or different markings for it's size.
I contacted Allengelhard and they figured it was authentic but don't have an example.
If I get that bar I'll send pictures to them.
    It's a great reference site.

Glad to hear they responded and figured it was authentic. There are a lot of Bunker Hill fakes out there now. Some of the oddball sized ones over the last year or more on eBay for example.

I must admit, that 5 kg bar is pretty cool! B)

    Great Pickups...

@asheland That is an interesting ACLI Engelhard bar, and very cool!

@cmanbb the 4oz 1976 Homestake ingot is Superb - Bicentennial Date, and a perfect even weight makes for quite a desirable combination in my eyes.

I love it when I'm able to contribute to the All Engelhard Site. I pulled this boat anchor out of Australia, which probably takes the prize for coolest Engelhard in my collection. Its a different mold than the other known 5kg versions, plus its got nice cooling rings like a stone thrown into a pond.

    5 Kilograms!? That’s bad ass!!! B)

SURFINXHI You know those are .24
    (point 24 karat) right?
24% gold (5.76 karat, or .240 pure). That means that they contain 0.024 ounces of gold (about 1/42 ounce of gold), or just under 3/4 gram
