I'm buying the Mint Medals because I like the design, so they will be for my PC. I can't afford the gold version, so I'll have to stick to the $50+ silver versions.
I'm not expecting the EU set go all crazy in pricing. I hope it does well, but my expectations are firmly in reality.

I may add one to my collection, but not for a couple years as I think it will get cheaper. I will probably flip 2 or 4 or 6 of them now as there will probably be some price movement due to the distribution problem connect to the HHL.

I don't understand why they don't use actual photos. Those drawings they use just don't do the coins justice. They look unreal and bland compared to photos.

Waaay too many finishes, mintages, sets for me to keep accurate track of. A previous reference to the USPS issues was an apt one. And too many PC designs... JMHO.
But... the US Mint is catering to the market out there, and there are those who will buy their products... myself included in certain instances. This design/set is ideal for the HSN types out there; I see a quick sellout.
This set will slowly die on the vine, just like it's 2 predecessors have. And we're not talking coins, but 1 oz medals - with a bullion value of less than $70.

I'm rethinking this. $200 may be better going to a SP70 EU set. Or maybe a LE set to flip. (I have no interest in the LESP set, so if I get one at all, it'll be to resell.)
As I said, $50/ozt for a silver round makes me itch, and the closer we get to the sales day, it's turning into a rash...

Question is will this Sell Out in the first few minutes or sell for months? After all the 1st sale of the 225th Anniversary American Liberty Silver Medal back on June 14th Sold out in minutes right? I guess that's not fair cause there was NO limit imposed in round 1.
The Gold & Silver Liberty Medals issued by the Mint are still available and not sold out. What makes anyone think that this 4 medal set will be any different?

Well, not to be critical, but there's no mintage limit on the silver medal. They're going to sell that thing until the cows come home.
I was thinking about going in, but I passed on the gold because I didn't like the design (especially for $1600+) and passed on the stand-alone medal because they wanted 4x spot (which was a huge increase over last year). If I ever want one, I'm going to hedge my bets and assume they're going to be closer to spot in a few years.

I'm not feeling this one. The medals from 2016 were successful but in large part due to very limited mintage. I just don't see medals having that kind of appeal for the long term, but I could be wrong.

A few reasons.
2.9x spot. If I liked the design, I wouldn't care, be it a coin or medal. The design plus the excessive surcharges on the gold and stand-alone kept me out, so at least I'm going to be consistent.
50K product limit. I'm getting a worse vibe about this set, than I did about the LESP. There is an almost dislike for this set. If I ultimately decide to collect the American Liberty series (which will probably be decided with the 2019 design), my guess is I'll find the coins and medals closer to spot.
The set design isn't unique. It's the 2014 Kennedy silver set, only with twice the silver at twice the price. (Okay, a little more than twice the silver, but silver spot in 2014 was 2-4 bucks higher than it is now.) It even looks to be the same size as the Kennedy set since the medals are closer together.
And ultimately, I'm trying to reduce the size of my collection. If I still can't decide if I should buy a set a week from release, I probably won't (and shouldn't) be buying it.
I'll still be interested on how the set does. I think it might even sell out, just not quickly.
The problem is these are medals, not coins. So 50,000 is a lot of medals. I think it stays up for sale for 24 hours then they remove the limit of 2 coins per order like they did with the Silver set.
If they have to remove the limit to get a sell out, expect a longer time to sell-out (if ever). The big players are not going to suck these up like they did the ASE in the LE set.

fact that they are medals and not coins will reduce the flipping market by 50% initially. Only thing that will change this is an unexpected aftermarket interest.

Ebay pre-sales appear to be in the $250 to $300 range per set, and so far seem to be having some sales. Of course, we have seen issues before that have sold pretty well on the presales but aftermarket dropped dropped dropped after Mint sales started....

Like the design - set is too dang expensive, too high of a premium and too high a mintage. I would pick one up for maybe 130-150 down the line.
