May be just me, 50000 sets is a lot of mintage for high premium medals that only serious collectors would like. Cut it down to 5,000 then everyone may jump on it.
Yeah, I'm leaning towards watching this one sell out through the mint, whenever it happens, and picking a set up later down the road. The price/mintage doesn't really give me any urgency to order right away. The opportunity cost is apparent on this one.

I keep looking at the 2017 medal released four months ago and still hasn't hit 47k in sales
I'll post the gold and silver coin/medal sales data today after the new numbers get released....
I suspect there will be a percentage of flippers who buy based on last year's 5 minute sellout. I would think that this year's stand-alone's mediocre performance might clue them in, but the 50K product limit might suck some in.
If that's true, we might see negative sales numbers for the set in a couple of weeks...
I'm in that boat also, but did pop for the gold as well - overpriced was that one. I just can't see 50k COLLECTORS lined up for this one either and especially at that price with the same design already out there in both silver AND gold.

Prepare to be shocked
Well, I'll be SHOCKED if it sells out on the first day and VERY SURPRISED if it sells out in the first week....so someone's going to be surprised, one way or the other. They haven't sold 50,000 of the silver medals in like 6 months, so it's hard to imagine tht this $200 set is going to sell out in a day.
@jmlanzaf they are not the same coins as the earlier issue. All different mint marks and finishes, I think they will do just fine. The price per oz on these coins is cheaper then a 1oz silver eagle and it is limited to 50,000 so for me it looks good.

I'm well aware of the differences.
Different finish for a medal no one cared about in the first place. The mint marks are irrelevant as no one is trying to fill an album. The finish is slick and I like it, but the price point is far too high for a mint medal.
If you want to put one in your collection, that's fine. I may put one in my collection a couple years from now at half the issue price. Mint medals do not have a good track record for holding value and 50,000 is a LOT. You can't compare 50,000 for a mint medal to 50,000 for a silver eagle or other coin series that people collect.
The software is trying to warn you not to spend your money on these, lol..

Nothing wrong with that. I have all kinds of stuff in my collection that probably no one but me would care about. I firmly believe that everyone is entitled to make their own collecting decisions. I was only suggesting that the relative interest in a Mint Medal is going to be muted relative to a coin series that has numerous album/registry collectors. 50,000 for an ASE is a $1000 coin. 50,000 for a Mint Medal is a huge mintage.
I'm not trying to talk anyone out of buying one. I'm not even trying to talk anyone out of talking someone into buying one. Just stating my own personal opinion. All the dealers I talked to are also staying away from it for the same reason I am. But, I could be surprised by the ultimate demand.
how many of the P proof have been sold? That might be an indicator... These 4 have different MM/Finish combinations than the P proof... If 100,000 folks bought them, i guess they would be in for this set as well.
Not a sellout period. These are medals, sure silver, sure fancy combinations involving all the mints...like the Franklin Halves did a couple years ago, but overpriced at the starting gate. The reverse proof is interesting, isn't this the first RP medal? And speaking of reverse proofs, next years RP Set will be the knuckle biting sellout...not these medals.

Here we go again another $400.00 going down the drain as my credit card rings up another order! My eyes focused on counting down the hours until that magical time! GO!!!!!! As I wait for the Post man to deliver that package!!!!! And then the coin's going into the bottomless pit of my coin safe! Keep that job Gluggo!
Going to pass on this one. Good luck to all who decide to purchase.

These sets will obviously by broken up, graded and slabbed...which of the medals is going to be the most valuable?
Perhaps the proof? Will the uncirculated one have a burnished/satin finish? Will the RP look like the Terminator?
one second one,(rocking) one second two,(rocking back) one second three, (rocking forward) and one second four, haha all very true valid points. I will still buy 2 of it and keep in box put in closet and forget about it till the next one comes out in this series.

I'm going to do my part to make the mint ordering process easier for everyone....by not even trying to get in to buy these....not even to flip.
Soooooooo not impressed with this issue.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Playing the label game are you?
This is a special, special label. The standard label is a special 225th label.
NGC Special Label for American Liberty 225th Anniversary Silver Four-Medal Set
They get graded at a Modern Tier ($16) plus Early Release ($10, if desired), so you're paying $4 for the special, special label with the signature.
If you're a label collector, you'll need both...

Still no interest on my part. It will be interesting to see how fast they remove the household limit
Household limits will be removed Friday. Then you'll be able to really buy in quantity!!!!!!!!
so, am i right that most people think this will NOT sell out anytime soon?
It has no denomination (matters to me), the stars are too big and Liberty is not spelled "LIRFRTY". Nothing to see here. Pass.
Big fat PASS. Maybe pick one up next year for half price on eBay.
