Expensive coin. Cool, but they'll have nowhere near the interest that the dime and quarter generated. I ordered one, perhaps against my better judgement (4661xxx). Might be better to just buy one already graded for a trivial premium. We'll see.....
It'd be nice if they ended up melting the majority of these. The three-coin set would then be worth something.
Can't wait to see the gold two-ounce 2021 Peace dollar.
At this point it looks like about 24,000 orders. If most are single coin orders and several thousand more are 2 or 3 coin orders then maybe less than 40,000 coins sold so far.

Don't forget that some of the orders are for other mint products.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
Looking around at some of the various blogs, the latest order I can find is from 7:30 last night, with an order number of USM046643xx. The lowest reported number was reported here (don129) was USM046374XX, or around 26,900 orders.
Assuming (there's that word) 1.25 coins/order (most orders appeared to be one coin), that's 33.5K. Overnight sales might push that another thousand, less than half the mintage.
That's pretty bad. (And I expect to see more than a few returns from flippers.)
The mint's behavior toward releasing numbers have changed a little, but I think we'll get first day sales later today.
It's official. mintnewsblog.com/ article. "The U.S. Mint reports that the Walking Liberty Centennial Gold Half Dollar sold 43,728 units on its first day of availability."
I got one also. For some reason my default shipping, which has always been economy, was priority on this order. It's OK I guess. I'll watch closer next time and save $13. UPS is better than FedeX and a signature is required so I know they won't just throw it at my door and run like hell.

I'm surprised that they sold so many. Looks like we may have a sellout in the next few days.
It might sell-out but everybody who wanted one got in yesterday/today and there's ~20,000 left. If it sells out it will take a few weeks IMO.
Once it sells out there is a much better chance that it will do better in the secondary market which I guess is sort of obvious. Also, there is a psychological factor where some people that were sitting on the sidelines will suddenly decide that this is a must have coin and then search one out in the secondary market.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
I don't think that everyone who wants WLH ordered already. Some people have other things going on it they lives. Some people weren't expecting a sellout, so they figured they would wait, especially with gold in a downtrend. I think they will sell out before Christmas.
I am one of those who really wants the gold WLH, but the price is holding me back. In my mind, I go back and forth with questions such as, "should I wait, should I get one now before it sells out, maybe see what happens to the price of gold?"
Regardless of my decision, it certainly is a beautiful coin.
Today, I had the pleasure of going to the UPS facility in Landover, MD to recieve my "Item". Expecting the usual 6X8X3in double sided taped sealed box, I was surprised when they presented me with an 8X8X8 in crate, roughly cut from a larger carton folded over, with a photo copy of the shipping label taped on one side, and several layers of clear cellophane tape wrapped around it. It was adorned with the usual UPS stickers and labels. my heart sank.
I asked the guy if this was the original packing material, he just shrugged. I picked it up and shook it, it felt light as a feather. There was something in there rattling around.
I realized I had to do the unthinkable. Right there in Landover, MD just blocks from FedEx Field, I was forced to open that crate and expose it's contents to the world, as all eyes turned toward me. I opened the crate and there in the far northern corner was a small black box and a shard of paper. I examined the coin, put it back in the box and left.
That re-wrapped box would not meet "unopened" first strike standards, there was no packing paper. The coin seems fine. There was no mark or stamp indicating the parcel was opened and resealed. They hear from me tomorrow. Thanks for letting me vent

Luckily I had bookmarked the cumulative sales page so got right to it. But, if I hadn't I would be SOL. Darn you Mint!
That page has been fubar for a few weeks now. HTML errors, non-functional drop downs, etc.
I've given up on the cumulative reports and am maintaining my own sales database. I'm extracting the table data from the page html itself as the source...
Two weeks accounted for above. Creeping up toward selling the max allowed. The Quarter (16XC) has 15,375 left of 100,000. The half (16XA) despite slipping back by 294 returns or cancels is at 21,318 under the 70,000 limit.
With the remaining dimes (16XB) going back on sale this Thursday there could be an actual sell out of 125,000.
With the remaining dimes (16XB) going back on sale this Thursday there couldwill be an actual sell out of 125,000.
Fixed that sentence for you Kudbegud.
Just for the record:
Price: $200.00
This product will be available for sale on December 15, 2016, at 12 noon (ET).
Item Number: 16XB
Household Order Limit: 1
With the dime at 116K, there are reasonably 5-6K dimes available, considering the number of coins returned because of the finning issue that I hope will be removed from resale.
According to rumors, Michel White (mint spokesperson) has stated the HHL of 1 is a reset. Even if you had ordered before, you will still be eligible to get one.
Others who have called the mint's help line have gotten conflicting results, mostly being told if you ordered before, you will not be able to order again.
I'd trust White's statement more than the mint,, since he's the actual spokesperson, and not some drone on a help line.
But it matters not to me, I'm out. I've got four of these, two more than I really want, With the offerings on the product schedule for January, I may not buy another coin from the mint for months now... The Lions Club and Boys Town don't float my boat, nor does the 2017 gold AmLib. The 20th Anniversary APE is returning to the 1997 reverse (which to me is a let down after the 2015-2016 offerings), and the 2017 ATB offerings are pretty weak.
We'll see what the Mint has to say at their Jan 17 press conference. Maybe they'll have something extraordinary for the 225th. I just hope the Mint hasn't jumped the shark with those silver medal offerings...

Thanks for posting the weekly stats....Another failed, overpriced, recycled "classic" coin(s) design.
Based on the sales figures and the amount of press these coins have received here and elsewhere this year... it's hard to see how you could say these coins "failed."
The lack of a sellout does not equal failure.
Sure, more could have been done with these and they could have been better (could have been made the same size as the 1916 silver versions for instance), but from what I saw these were pretty darn popular this year and likely will be for years to come.

not may more sales after the first 15 minutes. Good, maybe a low mintage.
Does anyone know how to edit a post? It would be nice to know. To correct the record, my order number was only 1 hour in, not 2 hours.
I knew it would happen.
there is a "gear" in the upper right of a reply.
click the "gear" and select "edit"
if you are an OP and it is the OP you are editing there is a large gear on the upper right and above the OP.
jmski52 There is a small gear at the top right of your post that lets you edit it.

I made a half-hearted attempt to order while I was at lunch. Got home around 6 and the website was fine (still haven't ordered, though)

bottom line: beautiful coin, as you say. Tough decision but so was the UHR, for some.
Any update on the amount ordered

Just received in the mint news letter email:
Household Order Limit Lifted!
2016 Walking Liberty Half Dollar
Centennial Gold Coin
ACT NOW We've lifted the household order limit on the 2016 Walking Liberty Half Dollar Centennial Gold Coin.
That _should_make for sell-out within a month. We will see.
Looks like a potential $25 price drop on Thursday, to $640.
I think you meant $840...

well, kind of glad 5 of 6 i originally order were terrible coins. They had black marks, dirty and nicks.
Now i got a $25 discount.
Oh look. The Mint posted last week's numbers, only 3 days late...
These include Black Friday numbers, but not Cyber Monday. HHL's lifted on the WLH on 11/28.
With Free Shipping and a price decrease on 11/30, next week's numbers may show a number of returns and repurchases at the lower price...
