Coinworld posted some details about the WLH October 12.
Mintage 70K, HHL 3.
If gold spot is between $1200 and $1249, the cost will be $865.
If gold spot is between $1250 and $1299, the cost will be $890.
If gold spot is between $1300 and $1349, the cost will be $915.
Yes. The real question is will they still be available in 2018? Heh.
If they don't sell out (they might, but I doubt it), they'll still take them down sometime next year. The gold Kennedy was on sale for 13 months before being mercifully put to rest. (I was going to say killed off, but that seemed to be in bad taste.... )
It will be interesting to see how the half goes. A smaller buying base because of the high $840 aprox. cost. A relatively high total mintage of 70,000. I am expecting roughly the same progression of sales as the SLQ. Boom the first day. Dramatic slowdown leading to lifting the HH. A short buying spurt returning to slow sales. Holiday buying could produce a small blip but the quarter and half will struggle to meet max sales.
Price:
If gold spot is between $1200 and $1249, the cost will be $865.
If gold spot is between $1250 and $1299, the cost will be $890. <---- price if it went on sale today
If gold spot is between $1300 and $1349, the cost will be $915.

Hmm, close on diameter, less than half sized on thickness.
The diameter of the gold version being smaller isn't what you should use to make the call that the coin will be "close" to the original... you need to look at total surface area of the coin as that is what your eye will see.
Using the pi times radius squared formula to figure the surface area of each coin, you'll figure out that the surface area of the gold half w/ a diameter of 27mm vs the regular half with a diameter of 30.6mm is not even "close."
The gold version will be roughly 75% of the size of the silver half when looking at the surface area and that is a big difference that will be noticeable.
Well, the good news is, sales for the SLQ are up over 250% over last week. Bad news is, it's dead, Jim. Once the WLH goes on sale next week, sales for the quarter may flatline...
I've bought the other 2 for flipping, and will do so for this one if I get a decent offer. I kept 2 70's of the dime, but none of the quarter. If the quarter and half get cheap enough in 70, I might pick one of each up.

75% of a standard half is still visually better than the nickel sized quarter to me. ~1.5mm smaller on the sides all around, will still be bigger than a standard quarter, which is a good thing for the half.
I missed the Mercs, but picked up three SLQs. This is my first real coin purchase in, like, five years. (I still have an unopened box of 9/11 coins that I really should have returned) Just got them back from PCGS. I'm looking forward to the gold Walkers. I agree that I doubt there will be a huge rush on them.
On the other hand, the silver bullion coins are popular, so there may be unexpected interest...

It looks like the price will be $865. I hope the strike and QC is as nice as the image.
I'd be delighted if you're right!
Depends on what happens Mon-Wed. Right now, average close for Thurs-Fri is $1252, which means $890.
Gold will have to stay below $1250. It's been a pretty volatile metal in the past few days, and wouldn't be surprised if it rebounded back above $1250 where it was for the past few weeks.
If you're right, this'll be like the third time gold dropped just before the sale of a gold coin, bringing the price down for the majority of the sales...
I will be buying just one from the mint tomorrow. At first, I was going to pass, but I have the other two. Investment wise these are going nowhere, but I like them.
Of course, I said that about the 2009 UHR. If there is demand overseas, it could help these centennial coins.

Me too. The question will be how the servers stand up to the rush. Any predictions of how crash, hanging and reloading free the ordering process presents?
Finally! Today at Noon! Be there or be... well... I hope not smarter than me, but...
I plan on getting one to finish the set.

There'll be a crush until 12:20-12:30 like always, but I'm conflicted on how much they'll sell today.
Less than 48K of the SLQ's sold in the first day of sales, but that had a HHL of one. After HHL's were lifted, sales jumped 20K to 75K, but have struggled ever since. There is a chance they could sell all 75K tomorrow, considering they sold 75K SLQ's after the HHL's of one were lifted. But I also think the flip is dead on this coin, and at $870, some will be priced out.
Let me push the start button on my WAG machine... 60K today.
As I noted in other posts, at least 8 tries, 04641xxx at 12:05. Amazing that after all of the money that the Mint spent on the site still no surge capacity.

Standing Liberty Quarter sales through 10/16...
I'm still putting a sellout at a dismally low percentage...

With the last coin still available this one is DOA.
Looks nice. I still think the Mint missed a big opportunity not making a silver version of these. I was mucho looking forward to these.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
Hmm, close on diameter, less than half sized on thickness.
Beautiful coin, to be sure, but I agree this likely won't hit mintage. I'll pick up a few, maybe get them graded...

How does that reverse image not make your feathers wet?
I noticed that they removed the Mercury dime from the website. It was on there saying currently unavailable but that is now gone.

I think it could sell out in a day. Though not like the modern ASE, many ASE collectors would probably be interested in owning one.

One week until the WLH goes on sale. Meanwhile, sales on the quarter has picked up a little...
It looks like the price will be $865. I hope the strike and QC is as nice as the image.

At the current spot price of gold = $1,227.60 a selling price of $890 would be 45% over melt and $865 would be 41% over melt.
This doesn't include the costs of certification, if that's your preference. It gets harder to justify as the chasm between value vs. cost widens.
I knew it would happen.
looking more like $865. That leaves $1.875 million in our pockets to spend else where.
Yep. Looking like gold will have to close over $1300 tomorrow to stay at the $890 price.
Good deal. (Relatively speaking.
