A supervisor in Dallas just explained why my 12/4/14 TA9 order has not been shipped. She said that there were some post 12/4 orders that were shipped from Memphis Fulfillment center in error. That orders before the Household Limit was in place and greater than 1,000 TA9's were reduced to 1,000. That there should be enough new TA9's coming to the warehouse to fill the 12/4/14 orders. Say, in 7-14 days. She seemed very informed. Mark.
So much for emphatic claims that no shipments went out despite the FIFO policy. Can't blame the individual mint CS rep....they just repeat what they are told. Those that do the telling of what to say is another story. They misrepresented the facts deliberately. But maybe they were told what to say from a higher level. "The cover up is worse than the original crime"
<< <i>My 12/4 order of 22 sets was just delivered by UPS...on Sunday morning.....I didn't think UPS even worked on Saturdays!! Merry Xmas I guess.... >>
Well you got me to look outside and sure enough MY 5 sets were sitting on the Front Porch. I ordered early Morning on the 4th. Enjoy
I mentioned before that these are shipping from multiple locations. I finally got my 12/3 orders -- all from Puerto Rico -- could it be that the new fullfillment center is having these sets assembled there? Instead of shipping to Memphis, they are drop shipping direct. Not a bad idea, but no wonder FIFO can't be accomplished this way.

Anyway, it looks like the price on sets may be drifting down a bit now that orders are getting filled. One thing for sure though, the price on PCGS-MS69 coins has headed straight South over the past week. Remember when the wisdom was that PCGS-MS69 FS coins would likely be around $200-$300 coins? Well, I am currently offering the MS69 FS coins at about HALF that price right now as I also believe my fellow board member MAS is as well. Maybe we are just both in the Christmas spirit

Folks, Wondercoin is right on the pulse of the market. IMHO, what has saved a complete crash in the pricing from a price peak (that topped about Friday night) is the fact that many big supply holders appear to have the discipline (at least as it appears so on EBay) of trying to dribble out these out units
For example, when watching the results of Sold and Current Listings for BINs and Auctions under the search string:
"2014 AMERICAN $1 COIN AND CURRENCY SET" - Yields these results:
12-14-2014 at 4PM Sunday showed 172 sold (cumulative) and 47 listings for sales
12-16-2014 at 1:15 4PM Tuesday showed 198 Sold (cumulative) and 44 listings for sale or (26 Units sold during the time from Sunday to Tuesday)
12-22-2014 at 10 AM TODAY showed 260 sold (cumulative) and 39 listings for sale or (62 Units sold during the time from Tuesday to Today)
NOTE: Before Friday 12-19-201, there was a big deficit of MINT sealed units making up only around 10% of the units offered. When Friday hit and into the weekend when a lot of the 12-4 shipments came in, the number of Mint-Sealed units doubled,
I was ‘COINB0Y' with 4812 posts and ‘Expert Collector’ ranking (Joined in 2006).
I decided to get out of this game. May be kicking myself later but I figured more doubling my money on 30 sets (after fees and shipping) was better than sitting on sets stored in the closet! Not a lot of profit but one shouldn't be to greedy, especially around Christmas!
Starting today, the United States Mint has added a “sold out” product status notification to their online catalog.
Some additional clarifying info from the Mint:
The “Sold Out” status is based on actual inventory, rather than adjusted net demand of the product, which reflected only orders placed and did not include other factors such as cancellations, credit card approvals, etc. A “Sold Out” status differs from “Out of Stock” in that there is no additional production or cancelled orders that can be used to fulfill orders.
The Mint also provided explanation for other status notifications:
Sold Out: When all inventory of products has been depleted, taking into account cancellations and other factors.

I did the same and dumped the 10 sets I bought. Didn't make a killing after fees, but I'm not complaining.
I think the TV hucksters would kinda do a service by pumping them at their usual inflated prices....maybe $59.95 and this would make a "normal" sale of $40 look cheap...and it would define whee a huge bunch of sets went that would not additionally undercut the present selling prices
For example, when watching the results of Sold and Current Listings for BINs and Auctions under the search string:

Soooooo...the Coin & Currency set must not be sold out....still just says OOS >>
Correct. It's not "sold out" yet. It won't be "sold out" until their inventory is depleted.
I'm beginning to suspect that the reason final reported sales were always less than maximum mintage (for sell-out products) in the past, was because PBGS never sold the final orders that couldn't be reconciled after the end of sales. The new company is going to sell these products to the last. So PFSweb is going to audit sales, and free up the inventory that's being held for some reason. It's the reason they put the BBHoF silver back on sale, and the reason the Gold Kennedy's took a hit.
They're not the only ones. Even the ATB pucks took a hit:
2014...Great Sand Dunes National Park...22,025...That's -1280 units over last week 2014...Everglades National Park..............19,028...That's -1176 units over last week
I had a Everglades "on hold". (It was a subscription, with current credit card information. Rather than hassle with calling the mint, I just ordered another one. Same CC, same info, they shipped the non-sub order in two days.) That original subscription order was "on hold" until this week, at which point it was cancelled. No fanfare, no warning, just cancelled. So I'm probably one of the 1176 units that came back on-line.
Anyway, back to the original point, I don't think they'll "Sell Out" until the last of the sets go out, and every order is reconciled. (At least to the point it's cost-effective to put the product back on sale.) So I think we'll see final sales much closer to the final mintages now. Well see.
Edit to add: When I posted this message, I got a time out. (Or more to the point, a message saying the server was offline.) I opened another window to the forums, and it took a couple of minutes, but this post eventually showed up. I am not the "latest poster" on the topic page, nor did the thread get moved to the top of the topics, but this message did get posted. So if you time out, don't repost!

The 1,594 set lot was not mine, but belonged to a forum member who I assisted with the sale (and an error collector actually) who stepped up big time and bought these up from the Mint. He made a pretty penny in a very short period of time. Good for him!! One dealer bought the majority of the sets, but I probably could have sold another 500 sets today if I had them. These sets should be decent in the long run, but there is no crime in taking an easy (and sizeable) profit before your credit card statement is even due.
Regarding the MS69 graded material ... there is very little (strong) demand for those coins best I can tell. One thing... serious Mint State Sac dollar collectors have little interest in "First Strike" coins as far as I know. They like nice blue holders to match their other coins. The coins are hardly worth submitting right now other than truly "perfect" ones that have a serious shot MS70. To the surprise of many, I believe MS69 coins will trade below $100 for a while. And, that makes it pretty easy for a Sac collector to acquire a (current) pop top coin for a great price.
As always, just my 2 cents.
