Those are some great additions guys. The Killebrew looks fantastic for its grade. Thats a tough card to find centered like that.

What is puzzling for me is that the Tom Glavine 1988 Score has been added to the HOF RC registry when for a long time, the key rookie card was the 1988 Fleer.

There is also a GLOSSY version of both.

I believe this was asked earlier in the post and Shagrotn77 said that the card added follows that of the Future HOF set. So talk to them over there.

Glavine's Score rookie has been more valuable than his Fleer RC for several years now. A quick check of completed eBay sales will verify that this is still true today. The Score card is much more condition sensitive than Fleer, as evidenced by the 788 PSA to 266 PSA 10 ratio. In regard to the glossy versions, they are ineligible for the set. Production was too limited. Same is true for Tiffany sets.

Once I decided that this was going to be my major focus, I sold off a lot of cards that I had from previous sets. (i.e. Aaron Basic Set, Koufax Basic Set, etc.) That definitely made it easier to buy new cards. Now I've run out of that money, so it's back to saving up for the cards I want. It has been really fun!

Is it to early to start talking about adding players to the future HOF set? I know Clayton Kershaw is only 25, but has lead the league in ERA for the last 3 years plus has won 2 CY Youngs and now hitting his prime. I believe he's on his way to the hall if he continues to pitch like he has for the next 10 seasons. What card would be used for this set? The same goes with Andrew McCutchen. I might be a little premature on these two, but curious on what cards will be used since PSA doesn't use auto cards in registry sets.

IMO it's way too early to add those players to the Future HOF set. Kershaw is definitely tracking for the HOF, but he needs to do it for longer. And McCutchen has more to prove. As for their key RCs for PSA registry purposes, I'm clueless. I remember at one time looking into the 2005 UD USA Kershaw card, but I don't know how that would be viewed by PSA. To me it fits in with the McGwire '85 Topps RC, which they do use.

The big difference between the 85 McGwire and the 05 Kershaw is that the McGwire was part of the base Topps set for the year, plus he had been drafted the year before. The 05 Kershaw is part of a stand-alone Team USA set that contains no professional players. He didn't get drafted until a year later.

Here's the breakdown of Glavein's PSA 10 rookie cards vs the total population of that graded card.

Donruss: 244 out of 985 (24.8%)
Fleer: 797 out of 2273 (35.1%)
Score: 266 out of 741 (35.9%)
Topps: 577 out of 2373 (24.3%)

Fewer Score cards were submitted, but a higher percentage of the ones that were submitted got 10s. Up until 5 or so years ago, the total Score graded population was less than 200, as I recall, while the Fleer pop was disproportionately high. People were submitting the Fleer card for a longer period of time, thinking it was worth getting submitted while the Score cards sat in common boxes until their low graded pop started getting confused with rarity.

I voted no. I'd like to see a few more productive years. If he plays up to his new contract, he'll get my vote but he still has a little more to do IMO.

I voted Yes tbh, I understand Carlos isn't a lock yet , but neither is Santana and Lee Smith. I feel Beltran is at least on those players level right now IMO.

He should be a YES. It is unfortunate, in the public's fascination with numbers that he missed a significant amount of time in what should have been his prime years for piling up numbers. If he doesn't get in, that will likely be why. Add another 162 game, prime number season to his career totals at the end of his career, and most everyone would vote him in.

He's a very good player, Greg, and still has a shot at the HOF. But was he ever dominant (outside of his remarkable postseason performance for the Astros in '04?) I'm not so sure. In 16 seasons he's only placed in the top 5 of the MVP voting once, and only finished in the top 10 twice. He's never won a World Series and is still in single digits in AS nods. I'm just playing devil's advocate here because I'm by no means discuss his candidacy. I just think he definitely has more to prove. See Dale Murphy. Or Carlos Lee. Or Dwight Evans.

I am not a cyber metrics expert, but I believe he fares pretty well in those realms. There have certainly been a lot worse players get in recently, though I know that is, by no means, a good argument for his inclusion. I just think without those missing prime years, he would be close to a lock.
